WESLEYAN RECRUIT

IWU is getting 6'7" Mike Marietti from Providence Catholic in New Lenox, IL
Can't locate any stats on him.

In an interview with the Joliet Daily Herald on 1/3/12 when asked if he had decided about college yet, he stated:

Not yet. Illinois State, Miami of Ohio. I don't know if I want to play in college. Maybe Carthage, Augustana or the University of Chicago. I had 29 on the ACT.

Perhaps he is now more sure he wants to play. Maybe he wasn't sure if he wanted to try to play at a big school (he mentions Miami of OH and IL State). However, it appears his "fire" might sometimes be turned only as high as the simmer setting. It will be interesting to follow his development.
Its curious he mentioned Augie and Carthage but not Wesleyan where he will evidently enroll. Appears to be a smart kid with a very nice ACT score.

He did mention IWU about a month later (Feb 13)...

Right now, if I had to make my choice it would be Illinois Wesleyan. I really like what they have to offer. But Miami (Ohio) University is my No. 1 choice. I think they are getting a new coach, though, so I'll have to see what happens.

I can't confirm AndOne's post, by the way...I have not touched base with anyone at IWU regarding recruiting in a few weeks.  Hope it's true - sounds like a very skilled big guy.

Titan Q - I can now confirm that Bryce Dolan from S. F. Borgia HS in Washington, Mo. Has chose to become a Titan. I saw Bryce play several times. He made the Post Dispatch when he had 44 pts and 9 treys against Lutheran South in St. Louis. I will let you post the particulars. This came from him at the MSHSAA Sectional golf tournament.

Thanks for the news.  I've heard good things about Bryce Dolan - basically that he's an undersized SG (6-0 I think) but that he can absolutely shoot the heck out of the basketball.

Dolan averaged 17.3 ppg and 3.0 apt as a senior.  He led the St. Louis metro area with 98 made 3-pointers and was 74-83 (.892) from FT line.

I am determined to be wise, but this was beyond me.

They didn't ask me, but if they had, I think it stinks. Moving the final game as well as the elite 8, doesn't say much about how the NCAA cares about family and fans. Getting to and getting good rooms are always a problem. This just adds another weekend to an already long playoff push. It will be a great experience for the Titan basketball team, and I personally love Atlanta. I'm just saying.

"Chatham Glenwood point guard Tyler Thurston is headed to Elmhurst College.

While Thurston's scoring took a dip in the 2011-12 season, he moved from the off-guard position to the point, where his primary role was setting up the scoring of sophomore Peyton Allen. Thurston finished at 6.8 points per game, down from 14.2 the season before.

Thurston, listed at 6-4, also made 62.2 percent of his free throws and pulled down 5.3 rebounds per game."
