Things haven't gone well for North Park since they let Bosko go, have they.

Why did he leave?

North Park fired him.

tjcummingsfan

Q are you talking about Bosko or Coach Howard?

Q are you talking about Bosko or Coach Howard?

I was talking about Bosko -- bopol's question seemed to be around why Bosko left North Park.

tjcummingsfan

That's what I figured, just wanted to check and see if you had some more info that we hadn't heard yet.

The full Wheaton list:

http://athletics.wheaton.edu/news/2012/5/17/MBB_recruits.aspx

This is a very strong class for Wheaton.  Michael Berg and Brayden Teuscher are the two most well known names, but there are a couple of others with high ceilings.

Probably most important to the immediate success of the program are the quality bigs added in Berg, Smith and Wikelius.

I just received another email from Coach Howard approx 10 days ago.  We'd been chatting about recruits, and he advised per NCAA rules he could not initiate contact with a certain family.

Todd Raridon, North Park beckons!!

*Addendum made this date to my post after a student yesterday asked me what in the world I was referring to by the 2nd part of my reply to markerickson's original post.
We "older" D3Hoops readers/posters are, of course, familiar with Queen's 1975 classic Bohemian Rhapsody.
I advised the inquiring lad that the tenor of the original post, that of a rival's veiled attempt to lure the NCC leader away, brought to mind some of the words of the classic song. Their inclusion in my reply was a reference to the fact that Todd Raridon's leaving is certainly something NNC fans wouldn't want to see. Accordingly, I added this explanation for the benefit of any other toddlers whose chronological age and/or musical taste/experience may not have exposed them  to some of the classic songs of the "older" generation.   :)

Also ... another recruit for the Big Blue.

Tommy Pilackas, Lebanon, sr.: Lebanon's do-everything senior guard was Pilackas, who contributed heavily in virtually every area of the game. The Millikin University recruit averaged 19.3 points and 9.1 rebounds and also was deadly from the outside with 57 3-pointers. He also added 76 assists, 69 steals and 29 blocked shots.

One theme that has emerged in any discussions I've heard about North Park is the fact that they were rarely seen out on the recruiting trail this past season, at least not in many areas of the suburbs. Perhaps much of their 2011-2012 recruiting efforts were focused on the city, a traditional NPU stronghold as far as basketball recruiting goes. One suburban kid they were known to be on was Griffin Pils, who ended up a Mississippi River Viking.

Also, you have to wonder if a kid who was being recruited by Coach Howard is still interested in NPU after seeing Howard abandon ship after a short one year voyage. Same with any kids who were primarily being worked on by any of the assistant coaches. This is due to the fact that any new coach brought in from the outside, is likely to clean house and bring in his own assistants.

Anyone have any info on the NPU search?

One hat that may be thrown into the ring is that of NCC ass't coach Todd Kelly. Kelly, who just returned from vacation in the Valley of the Sun, is thought to be pondering the possibilities. Kelly was a strong candidate prior to Howard being hired.
On the other hand, its doubtful we'll see former NPU ass't Steve Schafer, now head man at Fontbonne, submit his name for consideration. NPU also had a chance to hire Schafer previously. I think it would take a call from the NPU AD virtually assuring Schafer of the position to get him to even consider initiating the application process.

*It will be nice to see Greg Sager return from his recent hiatus. As is usual with NPU, he may very well be able to provide the most detailed insight as far as how things may shake out  on this question.
