Great article in the Quad City Times about the Swetalla family at Augie.

I'm glad that they decided to transfer this year. They've been an important asset to the team.

Nice family story...  This weekend also happens to be Alumi weekend.  There figures to be a few players around from the '93 team rooting on the most solid team to have a chance to go deep into the playoffs since then.

Greg,
I consider myself the Ralph Wiggum of this board.

Dan, I'm shocked that you didn't use the Ralph punchline, "Sleep? That's where I'm a viking!"

Greg,
I've got to admit I don't recall ever hearing that one. But, as you pointed out earlier, my knowledge of pop culture has some gaps. I thought the failing English quote was kind of appropriate because Stat busted me the other night for my compositional skills (or lack thereof) when I didn't separate my post into paragraphs.

Stat

Dan, forget the grammar, the punctuation, the spelling.

Just space it out, so the old guy can read it easier!

You're crazy if you don't believe Dee Brown will be on an NBA roster next year.  He'll be a 1st round draft pick guaranteeing him a roster spot for at least 3-4 years!

I think Dee Brown will make an NBA roster next year, but I don't see him as a first round pick.

The Pool C cutoff is probably at about #45 when you factor in all of the Pool A and B teams.  (There will be 37 A's, 4 B's, and 18 C's in the 59 team field.)

I think Augie likes its chances of a Pool C bid, if they don't win the conf tourney.

Q, who is eligible for a Pool B bid?  This was brought up last year but I can't remember.

He was pretty widely forecast as a first round pick last year before he was injured.  Has he done something to make you lower his status this year?

(Aside from being out-scored 13-8 by a d3 PG in an exhibition?! ;D)

Johnny,

As Q is busy broadcasting a game, I'll tackle that.  Bs are independents or members of conferences who are not eligible for an A (I think the only reason is not enough members, but perhaps there are other qualifications as well).  There are 4 B slots this year (and I think 41 teams chasing them, though I'm not confident on that latter number).

redmen1

87-80 Augie wins. "The Voice" said the officiating was very poor and Augie got alot of calls going there way.
Augie made plays to finish the game off. Jeffery and Johnson both played well for the Redmen. Any Augie fans at the game want to comment? Cause i would like to hear how "Bad" the officiating was. It has seemed like every game the Redmen play there is bad officiating.

Carthage played tough and probably could have won but they didn't. Have a good night!

Johnny Augie

Harrigan with an impressive offensive game finishing the game with 37 points.

augiefan

It's never pretty but Augie guts out another one. Harrigan had 37 and McAdams Thornton 16 per Augie announcers. Dain Swetalla had 11

Thanks for the answer.  That sounds about right.

If it makes you feel better, I'll say Carthage lost only because of homer officiating.

redmen1

Forgot to say Harrigan played very very well. A big 10-0 run really hurt the Redmen tonight. The Redmen seem to always allow a big run for the opposing team and fight back and lose by 5 or 6 points.

Jeffery with 29 points. Bosko says its tough and the guys wanted to win.

He also said they were just a little short.

He also gave out alot of compliments about Harrigan. His motor is always moving. AND did anyone know he played 1 year and a half years of JV basketball?

The Redmen need to learn how to play a whole 40 minute game. Alright I'm done now.

88-87 IWU beats Elmhurst.  Sounds like a game for the ages.  WJBC Intant Classic.  Valiant effort Elmhurst.

I can't imagine what it will be like if these two square off in the tourney.

Go Elmhurst!
