All I know is last night was a fantastic ball game at IWU.. I sure hope these two teams match up first round in the conference tournament. Wow, that would be a heck of a tournament. Elmhurst just couldn't seem to get any breaks late. Great ball game. I wish Daukas wasn't such a hot dog, I love his athleticism, just wish he wasn't such a jerk on the court..

Great ball game, worth the price of admission. Atmosphere was fantastic as well!

This is a question mostly because I'm not real knowledgeable about how the Pool C's work, but Elmhurst is in 3rd place.  How can NC  who is below EC in the standings, have a better shot at a Pool C when they are behind a school that's in 3rd.  That, and Elmhurst beat NC in Naperville.  Could somebody explain?
Currently:  NC is 10 - 4 In Region versus Elmhurst 11 - 6 In Region  and  the Elmhurst QOWI @ 9.059 lower than NC @ 9.929;  so a better In Region W/L with higher QOWI gives NC the current advantage.  The In Region losses to Hope and UW-Plattville really hurt Elmhurst particulalry with UW-Plattville @ .529 Pct In Region (below .667 hurts in QOWI).

Beyond all that, since you used NC & ELmhurst let's say either Augustana or IWU wins the CCIW Tournament, thus the AQ.  NC and Elmhurst sit behind either team in terms of In Region or QOWI.  As I understand it, a conference can only offer up one team at a time for consideration.  Go beyond all that, sitting "at the table" on selection day are 7 other conferences each with their best In Region & QOWI Pool C Candidate competing for a limited number of slots.

iwum,

I know you knew better and just mistyped, but to avoid confusion: a region can..., not a conference can... (and same with the next sentence).
Thanks for the catch.  I fixed my previous post.

To provide some perspective of the Midwest Region; and, how CCIW teams stack up I took the Midwest teams from the Top 100 QOWI and listed in regional order based upon QOWI (highest to lowest) showing their postion in the Top 100 ( ) and Top 25 [ ] for comparative purposes:

The QOWI (from Top D3 100) through games of Thursday, Feb., 2 Midwest Region only:

# Rank Midwest (# Rank Top 100)[D3HoopTop25 thru games Jan 29]

1 -    (1)  Augustana 11.765 (CCIW) [#5]
2 -    (2)  Lawrence 11.600 (MWC) [#3]
4 -   (13) Illinois Wesleyan 10.786 (CCIW) [#8]
5 -   (23) Transylvania 10.421 (HCAC) [#19]
6 -   (26) Washington U. 10.333 [No Rank]
7 -   (30) North Central 10.077 (CCIW) [#14]
8 -   (36) Carroll 10.000 (MWC) [#23]
9 -   (43) Hanover 9.800 (HCAC) [No Rank]
10 - (73) Elmhurst 9.313 (CCIW) [ORV]
11 - (77) Franklin 9.235 (HCAC) [No Rank]
12 - (83) Bluffton 9.154 (HCAC) [No Rank]

I made no attempt to update QOWI.  The purpose here is to show as an example how teams might layout to compete for NCAA Regional Rankings using only QOWI at a point in time.

...and how would you describe Chris Martin on the floor?  Adam is an intense competitor, but he's not a jerk.

rpknupp

What did Martin do? I did not see him do anything "showy" last night.. Maybe I looked over it, because C-Mart is my friend, but I just didn't see Chris "showing his opponent up" all night. Every basket Adam made he popped his jersey out, and had choice words for the Elmhurst student section. I think he looked "like a jerk" last night..

That was frustraing...had something typed out and then it didn't let me post it because I ran out of time.

Anyway, it sounds as though both of our views are altered by the fact that we are friends with these guys.  I'll admit that I don't see what Adam does after a made basket...I look down to write.  However, I do see Martin get that "five year old who just got told he can't have his lollipop because he didn't eat his dinner" look every time a call doesn't go his way...or the way he looks and yells at his teamates when they don't make a good pass to him...etc.  I'm sure it doesn't help our view of the other team's player since they usually stick the dagger in the other team's heart.  I'm willing to guess that Chris is a great guy off the court, just like Adam.

Something that is not right is the way that some of the IWU students acted after the game.  There is no reason to taunt the other team after the game.  It ranks right up there with the "over rated" chant that Elmhurst gave IWU after the game in their place.  Can't they just be happy that their team won?!

When you log in, check the box that says "keep me always logged in" or something like that. Should eliminate timing out.

Congrats on the new addition.

Mr. Ypsi

hammer,

I was just about to suggest the same solution, and to say that I'm pretty sure that Pat doesn't mind - I guess he doesn't mind! ;)

titanhammer

I thought that would negate the "online" / "offline" status.

Thanks, Pat.  Everyone is home now.  For some reason my 20 month old son doesn't see what all the fuss is about, but my 12 year old daughter sure does.

It won't show you as logged in if you aren't actually on the site. If you're idle for 15 minutes then it turns your online status off on your profile, pretty sure.

What was the deal with Jason Fisher shoving Chris Martin in the first minute of the EC/IWU game last night?

The season is not over!  EC still has a game against NCC at the hall.  You might want to wait and get the outcome of that game before you start talking any kind of bid for EC.

I somewhat remember that.  I just considered it each of them saying, "Game on!"  If there was something that caused it, I didn't notice it.  Did they have any battles in high school?

rpknupp

No.. I doubt they even played each other... Delavan and Eureka are not really rivals or anything..

titanhammer

Weren't they both class A and not too far away from each other?  I'm not saying that their schools had to be rivals, but I thought they may have played each other.

RPKnupp, I get the vibe that you don't think much of Titan Hammer.  Doesn't it help my cause that my dad was on one of the famed Manito teams that beat Pekin?
