North Central over Central (Iowa) tonight, 88-83.  I have no details.

70----

You really need to check the source of that information. North Central didn't play anyone tonight, and they don't play Central IA anytime this year.  ???

That was a women's game. AndOne -- couldn't be bothered to consider that possibility?

One could say "we could have won" but in no way you can say "we should have won". You shouldn't expect to win with that many turnovers. Whitewater looks good, not unbeatable, but they might be down the road. Mr. Young kinda just ran the offense tonight, but when he needed to, he got to where he wanted to, and that allowed him to score. He just did not have to tonight. Never happy after a loss, but if you can learn from it, might help in the future

In light of some errors in the Live Stats being smartly uncovered by Mr Ypsi, I'm not sure that these stats are correct, but if they are, I think they are quite telling.

Points off turnovers:
UWW--31
IWU----8

Points in paint:
UWW--36
IWU---22

Fast break points:
UWW--10
IWU----0

Pat Coleman

I would always doubt fast break stats, just because it's kind of an add-on for people to punch into live stats and I don't think it is done consistently. Often it is a keystroke that gets overlooked.

To be perfectly candid Mr. Coleman, in light of the fact the information was posted in the MEN'S room, I simply reacted to what I immediately knew to be erroneous information. My post was not malicious nor did I smite the original poster as 70 and I actually are often in agreement on various questions/issues. I simply pointed out the impossibility of the NCC MEN having played Central tonight.

I believe the real question here is why you were so "bothered" by what is 100% factual information, that you felt it necessary to respond in a spiteful manner.

I personally have a dislike for when people make an automatic assumption that there is no such thing as women's basketball. You may not have a ranked women's basketball team at your favorite institution, but you do have women's basketball. (And they have a Walnut and Bronze, by the way.)

Women's basketball deserves respect, not to be brushed off like it doesn't exist. Your dismissiveness of that possibility rubs me the wrong way. It may not be top of your mind but it should at least somewhere *enter* your mind.

Hope that answer helps you.

Darnell Harris is an interesting story.  Left his H.S. in Milwaukee after his JR year to attend prep school in Texas, where he committed to D1 Florida International...but ended up at prep school in LaJolla, CA where he committed to D1 Cleveland State...but never made it there and is now a FR at D3 UW-Whitewater.  Quite a path!

Another of Jenkins' players, Hamilton standout Darnell Harris, will spend his senior year at Christian Life Center Academy in Humble, Texas. The 6-foot-8 Harris averaged 13.7 points and shot better than 40% from three-point range.

Jenkins said Harris is considering Florida International and Marquette, with Providence, Oklahoma State and Tulsa also interested.

Hamilton (Milwaukee, Wis.) might have fielded one of the nation's top 25 basketball teams during the upcoming season – that is until two of its premier players transferred to out-of-state prep schools.

Veteran coach Tom Diener told MaxPreps that 6-foot-8 senior Darnell Harris is at Christian Life Center (Humble, Texas), while 5-8 senior point guard Charles Lee is attending Huntington Prep (Huntington, W.Va.).

Both would have been three-year starters. Last year they helped Hamilton post a 20-4 record, win the Milwaukee City Conference and reach the Division I state quarterfinals.

Harris, a slender 185-pounder, averaged 13.5 points, 8.1 rebounds, 2.6 assists and shot 45 percent from 3-point range. Lee averaged 12.5 points, 5.2 assists and 4.0 rebounds.

"Darnell has tremendous perimeter game skills: shooting, passing, pivoting," Diener said. "He can really shoot the three. As he gains strength he will become one of the premier recruits in the country. I think you will see him in the NBA some day.

Rather than hold out hope of an offer from Marquette, Darnell Harris committed to Florida International on Wednesday.

Darnell Harris, a 6-foot-8, 210-pound forward from La Jolla Prep (Calif.), has verbally committed to Cleveland State, according to his head coach, Bobby Bossman.

Darnell Harris never attended prep school in La Jolla, CA only Christian Life Center Academy in Humble, Texas last year

Voice, it seems to me that Harris left his Milwaukee H.S. after his JR year and played at Christian Life Center Academy in Texas during the 2010-11 season.  This article from August 2010 mentions him heading there - http://www.jsonline.com/sports/preps/101441709.html

But for 2011-12 it seems that he was at LaJolla Prep. Here is video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VMgfLq9wHkY

(Just from watching the video I'm 100% sure that is the same Darnell Harris that lit the Titans up last night.)

Here is a MaxPreps player page: http://www.maxpreps.com/athletes/Noo5qJG9E02_-g6BMdR8rw/basketball-winter-11-12/profile-darnell-harris.htm

And a boxscore from 12/11/12 (LaJolla Prep vs L.A. Trade Tech): http://www.saddleback.edu/athletics/basketball/brum01.htm

Here is mention of his committing to Cleveland State (from LaJolla Prep): http://clevelandstatehoops.blogspot.com/2011/09/darnell-harris-commits-to-cleveland.html

Far be it for him to assume we're talking men's basketball in a forum where the header is "Men's Basketball -> Midwest Region" and the original post made no mention of it being a women's game (which I would expect in a forum titled "Men's Basketball")

BTW, thanks for fixing the score on the Medger Evans/Lehman women's game.  I was shocked when D3Hoops had Medger Evans winning last night.  How do you guys get the scoring information anyway?  Does it come from the school's AD depts?

iwu70

Calm down guys.  My error on posting the NCC score wrongly.  Obviously I thought it was the men's score, not the women's game.  I done wrong.  And, as you know, from my posting in the women's chat space, I have great respect for the women's game in DIII, just love it.  My 93 year old Mother, who was a feminist, for equality of all types, way way before her time, would kill me if I didn't have respect for, even advocate for the women's game.  She was a Title Nine advocate before that legislation was a glimmer in any legislator's eye.

My apologies for the confusing, erroneous posting.  I am, like the Titans, still a work in progress.

Loved the Titans women's game yesterday, a real return of their mojo, a "steady the ship" game after getting it handed to them by DePauw.  Both Titans teams are going to improve, continue to develop and be darn good by CCIW season time.

Men Titans have another good set of challenges this weekend, with Tufts, then likely Wash U if they beat Tufts.  Tufts gave #1 MIT a pretty good game recently, losing only by 10.  They must be a pretty solid team.  We all know that Wash U is again another excellent team/program.  Almost goes without saying.

IWU Women play U Chicago on Saturday -- with the National Championship banner being unveiled in the rafters of the Shirk Center at 1:55 p.m.  Hope all IWU fans appear to show respect for Mia Smith and the women's program and its exemplar achievements recently, especially last year.

Again, my humble apologies for the erroneous post.

IWU70

P.S.  Pat, thanks for defending the women's game and all the excellent programs out there now.  Much appreciated.  ms

iwu70

Wow, what a journey for Darnell Harris.  He's a superb talent, no doubt.  But, frankly, you have to wonder what this journey, many schools, has done to his educational process . . . surely no continuity of education or of friendships.  I find it a bit disturbing.  And, I wouldn't be surprised if he leaves WW and goes for a DII or DI program, with scholarship et. al.  Stay tuned.  He sure lit up the Shirk Center last night.

Quotethanks for fixing the score on the Medger Evans/Lehman women's game.  I was shocked when D3Hoops had Medger Evans winning last night.  How do you guys get the scoring information anyway?  Does it come from the school's AD depts?

Yes, about about 95% of our scores come from one of the participating schools.  Usually it's the Sports Information Director who posts it, assuming the school has one.  We clean up the remaining 5 percent at some point, but they aren't a high priority for us, particularly since the 5% includes schools who play a lot of non-Division III opponents.  If I need a score to write the front page or if I'm watching a game, I'll enter the score myself.

I don't think we entered the MEC/Lehman women's score last night, though we're watching the box scores because of how extreme the results have been for the Cougars.
