NPU is finally going to be back on the air! (Or cyberspace, if you want to be picky about it.) We've straightened out the administrative issues, so Rob and I will be back to bring you all of the rest of NPU's home games, starting tomorrow afternoon. I'll be on the air with the pregame show around 1:45 pm or so, and then we'll bring you all the action as NPU hosts Trine at 2 pm.

(Contrary to the press release, this will be our fourth year of webcasting NPU's home games, not the third.)

Looking forward to it. I'm sure that Rob will be on here sometime this evening or tomorrow morning to mention it as well, and I believe that he will once again be sharing the e-mail address from which we'll take questions or comments during the game.

my question to mr. sager is this:  does the broadcast have enough time to be able to include everything the loquacious voice of the npu vikings has to say?  he certainly is above-and-beyond with the written word on this board -- but can the airwaves handle all he has to say?  inquiring minds want to know.

Wheaton fans, is it correct to say that the WETN stream cannot be viewed on an iPad?  My parents have an iPad and would love to watch the Wash U @ Wheaton game, but I don't think it's possible is it?

Thanks.

I've made a pretty good attempt at it (3rd party web browsers/media players etc) but have never had success with WETN and ios.

Really intriguing game at King Arena tonight featuring two very good, but very different, teams.

#6 Wash U is a frontcourt-oriented team, led by 3 big starters:

SF - Matt Palucki, 6-6 So - 11.0 ppg, 8.1 rpg
PF - Chris Klimek, 6-5 Jr - 15.1 ppg, 4.5 rpg
C - Robert Burnett, 6-7 - 10.0 ppg, 7.6 rpg

These three have led Wash U to a crazy rebound margin per game of +16.

The Bears also have a very good PG in 6-1 Jr Alan Aboona (13.0 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 5.3 apg) and then a lot of depth at the guard spots in 6-3 Jr Tim Cooney, 6-0 Kevin Bischoff, and 6-0 Ben Hoener.

If there is a knock on Wash U (and it's hard to find one), it's that the Bears are not very deep in the post.  6-5 SO Nick Burt seems to be their only decent post reserve.

#22 Wheaton, of course, is more of a perimeter-oriented team, led by 6-4 PG Tyler Peters (20.7 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 5.0 apg) and 6-2 SG Michael Kvam (12.0 ppg, 22-46 3-point, .478).

6-6 Sr Nathan Haynes (8.7 ppg, 10.4 rpg) will have to be really good defensively tonight for Wheaton, and Wheaton's young posts will have to grow up in a hurry.  Otherwise the Thunder will get carved up by that incredibly precise Wash U offensive machine.

Wheaton is nowhere near as deep as the Bears...especially with Brayden Teuscher out with injury.  His absence will hurt the Thunder tonight.

I've seen Wash U 4 times in person this season (twice at Nebraska Wesleyan, twice last weekend in STL).  I think they're a legitimate national championship contender.  They have the 3 elements I believe almost all great teams have:

* Balanced offensively (inside/outside)
* Deep
* Strong defense/rebounding

It can't be overstated how significant this in-region result will be come Selection Sunday.  This is a big, big game for both teams.

I have Wash U as a 4-point favorite.

That's been my experience. I think you need flashplayer and the iPad doesn't yet support it. The way I have been able  to do it is use "remote desktop" app (free download) and connect via ipad to a desktop where you can log in and watch. So it IS achievable with a minimum of tech savy ability (and I scrape the bottom of the barrel in this regard)

Lots of Augie supporters around. If they are like me, just no time to post.  Excited about this young Augustana team.  They are young but appear to have lots of raw talent.  Hoping we can get 2 of our veterans back from injury soon.  Anyone know if Kevin Schlitter is out for tonight's game at Steven's Point?  Do we know the extent of the injury?

iwu70

Yes, would be nice to have more regular posters from Augie and a number of other CCIW programs.

I see that Carthage and Millikin both lost last night, dampening our pre-CCIW season winning percentage somewhat.

Wash U - Wheaton should be a very good one.  Also, Augie @Stevens Point, right?

Have a good weekend all.

I agree that Wash U is a legit contender to make it to Salem.

With a significant height advantage Wash U clobbered Webster on the boards Wednesday night. Also dominated all other phases of the game.

It seems to me that with their front court size they have plenty of depth around the hoop, if not precisely "in the post".

Salem and Atlanta both, I'd say.

I totally forgot about Atlanta -- possibly bcause I'm not convinced it's a good idea.

I want to see how it all plays out before condemning it... after making two trips to Salem, I know how wonderful the experience is for everyone... the community, the fans, the players.

I'm glad they haven't removed this experience totally from the championship.

The Salem experience is definitely special. I'm wondering if the Atlanta experience will be special AND a big deal.

As an aside, it will be interesting for the 8 teams who make it to Salem to be around 7 other teams instead of just 3. I wonder if they will still do the dinner like they do on the eve of the Final Four... that was always a special moment when you had all 4 teams together and you got to hear from the coaches of the teams, in expectation for the weekend's events. Before any of the teams had tipped off and played (I guess with the exception of situations like Amherst/Williams in 03-04 or the multiple ODAC teams in 09-10... I might be missing others), they were all there, together, on equal ground.

The sheer logistics of twice as many teams to take care of it quite daunting.

Well the good news for Wheaton College is that WETN's lack of mobile device integration will lead to two more paying customers tonight.  My parents are going to make the trip from the SW suburbs to Wheaton tonight.  They said it's their first trip to King Arena since the passing of Dave Lawrenz ("Wheaton C").  My mom and dad used to make several trips to Wheaton each season and always sat with Dave and Ann.  I'm sure they will be in Dave's old section for anyone who knows Bob Sr and Joan and wants to say hi.

The late addition of my parents to the crowd should make up for the revenue lost to a certain former 1st Team All-American point guard who will be on a Wash U pass list.

North Park video stream up...

For anyone who likes to follow CCIW games online, you might want to bookmark this page:

http://www.iwuhoops.com/schedule12-13.html

I have links to each team's homepage, live stats, and video.

North Central is the only team in the CCIW without live video streaming.

Unfortunately i can hear Jay-Z and Kanye West really well...Greg Sager not so much.  No trouble with the crowd mic, that's for sure.

Kind of odd, but neat, publicity for NCC this morning from former Chicago Bull (and current Bulls color man) Stacey King via Twitter this morning:

Stacey King - @Sky21King - Props 2 my boyz over at North Central College! I see ya holding it down at 6-0 this year! I'm coming to check ya out this year real soon!

Not sure what the connection to the program is. Maybe a few players work at Bulls/Sox Academy in the offseason and have met Mr. King?

AO, any light to shed on this?

I know a couple of starters worked as scorekeepers at the Bulls Sox academy this past spring and summer. I'm coaching a 12u travel team and saw them there a few times. Probably where it comes from

I unfortunately have been "off line" and out of it this week due to the unexpected sudden and crushing loss of my 22 year old nephew last Sunday, and the corresponding family events over this past week.
I will attempt to explore this possibility upon my return next week.

I do know that both Aaron and Vince worked at Bulls/Sox over the summer so therein may lie the impetus for a possible visit by Mr. King. And, should he decide to attend a contest at the venerable "hangar" I do know someone who can get him a good seat.   :)
