Elmhurst 79
Carthage 58

Leading EC- Ruch with 18pts, and 14 brds.
Martin had 17pts
Michael-14pts
Ihlenfeldt-11pts

Carthage- Jeffery with 20 pts but put up almost 20 shots.

This was never really a game Elm was up by almost 20 in the first half, and carthage closed to 12 at the half but EC went out in the second and pulled away. Three of our starters didnt come out till 1:30 left with a 20 point lead I really question that.

Wheaton just beat Augie by 4.  Great game to watch on the webcast.

Oh well. Can't say I didn't see that coming. First of all, let me say Bollier was huge. He had a great game. That said, outside of Dain Swetalla Augie was terrible. Didn't rebound, especially in the first half. Didn't force many turnovers. Missed a ton of free throws. I don't think Nate Swetalla made one all night. Just a lousy performance all around. But, like I said, it's not like I didn't see it coming. Well we'll see how the Vikes bounce back. Historically, they've had a lot of trouble in Decatur. They're still in the driver's seat, but they've got a tough road ahead. Oh well, 4:30 rolls around pretty quick so I'm headin' to bed.

According to the scoreboard, Hope also lost today to Calvin.

33 consecutive seasons without an unbeaten team in CCIW play - amazing.

Augustana looked really vulnerable without their top two scorers producing.

congrats to wheaton for pulling off the upset - after getting smoked by the cardinals two nights earlier.

North Park 42 points - ouch.

Dennis,

They often look vulnerable when their two leading scorers are producing.

Tough one tonight for Augie....I don't even know what to say.  They just didn't come to play but congrats to Wheaton on a big win for them.  Those missed front ends of the one-and-ones towards the end of the game really hurt.  Guess the conference race will be just a bit tighter now.

Nice win for the Jays tonight!!!

In case any of you missed it.  There was a feature on the Chicago news about Chris Martin the other night. Here is the link:

Go Elmhurst!

Mr. Ypsi

I still think Augie will not be caught for the regular-season title, but IF the Titans win out (which would mean a win in RI), we now need help from only one other team to forge a tie.  Still unlikely, but not AS unlikely as it looked a couple hours ago!

Augie has been barely winning all year no matter who they play, and it finally caught up with them. It looks like IWU has a good shot of at least tying or perhaps beating Augie for the title now. Any idea who gets the tourney if Augie and IWU tie with 11-3 records? This, of course, assumes Augie can beat Millikin on Saturday, which is a big if should Harrigan be hurting.

Was Harrigan sick or injured tonight? I wasn't clear why he left the game. It certainly didn't help Augie to have him less than 100%.

When any team's two best players falter, that team is in deep trouble. Augie is certainly no exception.

rather interesting comment - that the crowd got bigger as the game was winding down

That is somewhat true, I showed up at halftime!!!

augie_superfan

Well they would split the head-to-head tiebreaker.  Then, isnt the next tiebreaker record vs. 3rd place, 4th place, etc?

If so, NCC finishes 3rd then Augie and IWU would both be 1-1
Then on to 4th place Elmhurst where Augie would be 2-0 and IWU 1-1
So Augie would get it.  If Elmhurst finished 3rd the Augie would win it there.

I think that is right but I'm not totally positive

titanfan

A_S, you're right.  Basically, Augie has to lose their last three for IWU to have a chance to win the title outright and host the conference tourney.

Johnny Augie

It looked like Harrigan got a bruise in the thigh and he was having trouble running.

Johnny Augie

I unfortunately only made it to the second half of the game and sat down by the Augie bench.  I'm not sure if this was going on at both ends, but the refs sure let some things fly in the paint.  Augie didn't handle that very well and missed a lot of opportunities that can lose a close game.  Free throws also gave Augie a lot of trouble.  Wasted attempts on the front end of the bonus doesn't help.
