Yes, I knew it, you were that geeky guy there with Emily Dale and Max Pape!  I knew it.   :)

Anyway, we can be loyal Titan fans forever, no doubt.  And, this, my friend, looks to be a vintage year, just like 1970.

"@IWUhoopscom: I'd rather have Kevin Reed at the 5 than Mason Plumlee." Are u not taking your medication again?

Ypsi, given your Sociology major, does that mean you had some courses with D. Paul Miller?  Did you know he's close to 100 now and very very fit, competing in his age group in many State and National Olympic style track and field events and winning many medals.  He's extremely fit for his age.  I saw him in recent months also worshiping at the altar of Shirk.  Perhaps you've read the articles about him on the IWU website or in the Pgraph.  As you likely well know, dear Emily Dale and Max Pape are long passed from the scene.  Sadly, Emily died in a fire at her summer home in upper Michigan and Max, too, is long passed.  Emily was so important as an early advocate and mentor for women at IWU, always willing to speak out and rock the boat.  I admired her greatly.  She was one of those early full-professor, tenured women blazing the trail, along with Doris Myers, Dorthea Franzen, and that big-voiced, very broad Marie Robinson.  Remember them??  I mention these Wesleyan great and good faculty, as many were/are also bigtime IWU fans, especially D. Paul.  I also saw at games in recent months Lee Short, there in his fancy new motorized wheel chair, parked along the Shirk railing on the west end, overlooking the court behind the basket, under the new women's national championship banner.  He's in good spirits, having defeated cancer for now.  (Karen Short '70's father, and longtime former Admissions Director and VP for Development).   He's well into his 90s, but in good spirits, there watching, supporting the Titans whenever he's up to it, can get out.  Same with my folks at 95.  If they have the will and strength on the day, they still sit in their appointed seats and cheer on the Titans, however meekly and quietly.  Gotta love the fan base of IWU, especially these elders of decades past.  I admire their loyalty to team and alma mater.  Sometimes these IWU elders, travelling fans are the butt of jokes in this room, but, actually, we should be so loyal, and hopefully emulate them in old age, which comes to us all as sure as the sun rises.

WUH, I admire Kevin Reed's game as much as the next guy, but, yes, someone needs to have their head examined.

Soon time for Senior night and Kevin and Dan Oswald will get their just praise and due appreciation.  I also hope Os gets the start, along with Kevin, to show the seniors out at Shirk in the proper way, kudos flying.  Gardner and Bilek playing one of their two last games at the Shirk vs. MU too.  Gardner soon to break the record for the most games played in the Wesleyan women's program history, at 122 games  That's some durability and strength, not to mention dedication, especially in the Mia Smith era of "run and jump" defence.  That's a lot of miles  on Melissa's feet!

Congratulations and good wishes to all the IWU and CCIW seniors wrapping up their sporting careers in the next few games.  Let's hope our Titan teams have about, shall we say 8 games remaining?

Mr. Ypsi

Yeah, I had classes from Miller - good to hear is he is still doing so well!  I admired tremendously his dedication to his principles; being a conscientious objector during WWII took guts!

Admittedly, I say a lot of things far worse (or far better) on my Twitter feed.

I'd hope that I wouldn't have to clarify that suggesting I'd rather have Division III Kevin Reed than a 6-10 guy that plays for Duke was a joke.  But who knows.

I knew it was a joke.  But it definitely did not sound that way in my last post.  I apologize for that.  I loved your tweet and the retweet.

In addition to being one of the best SIDs in Division III, Chris Mitchell is also quite quick-witted.

70,
While playing 8 more games would be a good run, the Titans need at least 9, maybe 10 to reach Atlanta and get the grand prize.

A goal that's within reach, but a lot of roadblocks along the way. Starting with teams in the CCIW.

iwu70

Ah, yes, Watcher, I forgot the CCIW tournament.  You are right, 10 games, right?  Somehow I had in my mind 30-3, so that would be 10.  That would be another 6-7 weeks of basketball, right?  But, I get ahead of myself.  Many many tough games to make it to Atlanta, I'm quite sure.

It's 9 if IWU losses in the first game of the CCIW tourney, 10 if they win that game.

Ah, yes, as we say in Chinese, "mingbai, mingbai" (I'm clear now, I'm clear!).

Some good games still to be played in regular season, and also the Shirk-hosted tournament, no doubt.

Speaking of which, does anybody happen to know what year it is over in China?

I believe it is the year of the monkey, I am not really sure, hard to follow things over there.

The Pantagraph is planning a big special editorial section this week, all about the year of the monkey 2013.

Gregory Sager

Are you sure? I would've bet all the corn in Manito that it was the year of the okapi.
