Ugly.  ???

Gross understatement. >:(

Titans shot 25% from the field overall, 20% from deep.  And the second half was worse!

Probably the worst performance of the year.  They'll still host the first round, but probably on the road after that.

IF NCC wins tomorrow, they will be first in the final (secret) regional rankings (though if WashU beats UChi, it will be very close).  IWU will likely be third.  (And, alas, none of us will ever know if I was right or wrong! :P)

I recall a post saying there is now a cap of 3 teams per conference, but have no clue whether the poster knew the facts.  Anyone know anything about that?

(If true, it would seem bizarre to me - teams earn or don't earn berths, not conferences.)

Not true.

There was a /jk at the end of that post.  I think he was pulling our collective leg.

(But the fact that we think it is plausible for the NCAA to enact such a rule speaks volumes about its penchant for bureaucracy...)

Q has Wheaton pretty high on his Pool C list, I have to imagine their loss pushes them closer to that grey area where it comes down to how many upsets involving Pool A teams that lose and become Pool C locks.

They should be ok but you never know.

Dunno if you're kidding or not, Chuck, but here's the handbook, and there's absolutely nothing in there about capping the number of teams that a conference can get into the field.

Just seeing the IWU result and box now, as I'm in Macau for a weekend conference.

Now, that was beyond ugly.  What's going on with the Titans, shooting it so so poorly at home?  Bizarre.

If AC finds a way to beat NCC, then maybe four teams in.

Not a great way to end up your season, before entering the D3 tournament.  Strange.

Any word on All-conference selections?

Congrats to Titans Melissa Gardner, Katy Seibring on 1st team, Colleen McMahon on 2nd.   Glad for them.  Great seasons, career for Gardner.  I'm a bit surprised.  I had Seibring first for sure, McMahon 2nd, and Gardner 3rd this year.  Just say'in.

Well, here we are, almost to "selection Monday."

IWU70 -- greetings from the gambling Mecca of the East, really of the world now --  6-7 times the turnover of Las Vegas, if you can imagine it.  Wild place, frontier China!  ms

I think Dave was playing a joke on us CCIWers.  He's the one who mentioned the handbook saying 3 teams total... but did throw in a "jk" and a winky face so deep breaths to Wheaton folks if Augie wins tomorrow.. you'll still be playing next weekend.  :D  http://www.d3boards.com/index.php?topic=4592.msg1494496#msg1494496

Boy, you guys are gullible.  Can't wait for my next April Fool's post.  If D Mac can get you going like this, wait until you learn Coach Stein has taken the job at Albertus Magnus.

Better make it before or after that date - I'm not nearly as gullible ON April 1st! :-[

Whether watching the IWU game on the computer or in person, the ugly result is the same. Putrid basketball by both teams. Oh well, practically every Titan fan thought the 2011/12 season was over when senior-dominated Wheaton beat IWU badly in the semifinals of last year's CCIW tournament in Naperville. And IWU recovered and wound up in Salem. Same CCIW tournament scenario tonight even though both teams deserved to lose. Don't be surprised if IWU regroups and goes on another NCAA tourney tear. They cannot and will not play worse than they played tonight. IWU now has 5 losses, 2 at Shirk (AC and Whitewater) and 3 on the road (Wash. U., Franklin (ugh!) and NCC), with 2 of those road losses to excellent teams. IWU will probably open on Mar. 2 at home and that means Brady Zimmer would have two weeks to rest and recuperate before the next game on Mar. 9 (most likely on the road).

Don't ever sell IWU short once the NCAA tournament begins. Ron Rose's record in the tournament is a sparkling 8-3 with all games on the road or on neutral courts. And this is an experienced and deep IWU team. They didn't play like it tonight. And to think they were one shot or one FT away in regulation against a great NCC team on Tuesday and finishing the regular season at 22-3. Things can change in a hurry.

Mr. Ypsi

It has truly been a rollercoaster season for at least this Titan fan.  With their graduation losses, when the season began I figured to be reasonably happy if they even made the conference tourney.  I gradually gained confidence as the season went on, and when they made it to 13-0 in the conference, I figured Salem was a pretty sure bet and Atlanta was not out of the question.  Now I think they could go anywhere from 1-1 (first game should be a 'gimme' opponent) to 6-0.  It should be entertaining! ;D

Hopefully, they have now gotten the total stinker out of their system.

Side note: it has now been 40 seasons since anyone ran the conference table.  Anyone recall if any team in that time has previously made it to 13-0?
