Out of curiosity, does anyone know who all such teams are?  I'm pretty sure that Hope, Calvin, and Wheaton absolutely will not play on Sunday.  Messiah never schedules games for Sundays, but is willing to bend for make-ups or tournaments (so as not to inconvenience others, I would assume).  I would assume there are others, but these are the only ones I know about.

North Park teams will play on Sundays. I haven't heard of it being a bone of contention among Parkers for as long as I've been around, although there's plenty of people who would prefer that NPU not play games on Sundays.

I would imagine that the list of no-Sunday-athletics schools would include many of the D3 institutions on this list, besides the ones already named:

Eric Dortch is an outstanding Titan basketball player and an oustanding IWU campus citizen.  He'd be starting alot of places.  Important contributions to the 21-5 record and, as  you can see, important contributions to the community. 

Congrats to Eric and all the Titans who perform well in the classroom and in the community.  Basketeball is great, but basketball is just basketball. 

Looking forward to some outstanding games in about 24 hours.

Congrats to IWU coach Ron Rose on his COY award for piloting his Weenies to the regular season conference championship. I do wish however, that the award was chosen by a vote of the conference head coaches rather than just automatically being given to the coach of the team that finishes 1st. I believe a coaches vote is how the award is chosen in football.

Personally, I think the coach of the 1st place team certainly merits the award in many years. Especially if he is the coach of the team that was picked first, and fended off a strong challenge or challenges from another team/teams. However, I think that most often the best choice for POY is the coach whose team exceeded expectations by the widest margin. Of course, a tie is possible under this scenario. IWU probably didn't exceed their own expectations this year, but they exceeded probably many of the conference members expectations, as they were picked to finish 2nd, but captured the championship instead. In that Coach Rose certainly exceeded expectations in a very successful season.

However, to me, the COY is either Millikin coach Nadelhoffer or Wheaton coach Schauer. Perhaps a tie. Both guided their teams to places 2 slots above where they were picked to finish. If I have to pick just one, I guess in light of their recent record plus the fact he started 5 freshmen, I'd give it to Coach Nadelhoffer.     

Bottom line, I'd just like to see the award be the result of a vote rather than just routinely being given to the 1st place coach.

I didn't say you were bashing Ron Rose.  And I didn't say that expressing an opinion is frowned upon.

IWU came into this season having to replace its entire perimeter rotation (Gonzalez, Zimmer, Rudnicki, Koschnitzky).  North Central returned most it's nucleus from a team that had won back-to-back CCIW titles.

Do I think IWU "expected to win the conference?  Not really.  Contend...sure.  Hope to win the conference...sure.  But expected to win?  No.
