WHEATON NEWS

Former Wheaton assistant coach Paul Ferguson, who assisted Bill Harris from 1999-2006, will return to WC for the 2013-2014 season to serve as an assistant to current head coach Mike Schauer.
Ferguson has been head coach at Wheaton Academy for the past 7 seasons.
Tony Bollier will remain as an assistant. No word on Nate Frank.

Ypsi, you could be right.  Titans have a lot going for them for next season.  Will be hard to replace Reed and his varied skills, foot speed, running the floor, and knack for rebounding.  Anderson maybe, though there may be other combinations that Coach Rose prefers to go with.  Guess it depends somewhat on what kind of off-season work and improvement we see.  I loved Mayberger's offensive contributions and I loved the good run of play that Dortch had late in the season.  All to the good.  Sure hope Zimmer and Sondemann can stay healthy, give us more consistency all season from the 2.  Overstreet still the straw that stirs the drink.

Hope you have a good summer, and that Spring has begun to appear in Michigan.

Mr. Ypsi

Mrs. Y had shoulder replacement surgery last Friday.  Since she is right handed and it was her right shoulder, I have LOTS of new duties to perform.  Since I'm sure it has been harder on her than on me, I'll stop whining now. ::)

Spring HAS (intermittently) arrived in Michigan.  Sunday was glorious - sunny and in the 60s.  It then immediately went back to highs in the 30s. :(  But the forecast is now back to the 50s. :)

Much as we humans suffered from this March, it's probably better than last year.  We had 10-12 days straight in the 80s last March (bringing out the fruit buds WAY too early), then very hard frosts in April.  The apple, cherry, etc. crops (a significant part of Michigan's economy) were basically wiped out - many cider mills (a Michigan tradition in the fall) never even opened for business.

I'm willing to have suffered now for the sake of cider in the fall! ;D

Ypsi, all best to Mrs. Y for a full and fast recovery.  Yes, do help her and don't complain!

I agree with you totally about Spring and cider.  We have the very rainy, misty season here now, with pretty constant downpours and pretty lousy air quality.  I'm looking forward to a typhoon or two to come in and help clear it all away.  We've had rain and basically no sunshine for over two weeks now.  Uggh.

Be well,
IWU70

Mr. Y, all the best to mrs. Y on her recovery.  Could not forget the hot cherry wine that is a treat that I experienced in the fall up in traverse city.  Is it popular all year round?

Gregory Sager

I hope your wife recovers quickly, Chuck. I remember how long and hard my mom had to work at rehab when she had knee replacement surgery last year.

Mrs. Y says thanks for the well wishes. :)

old_hooper, I'm familiar with cherry wine (which is sold year round), but am unfamiliar with hot cherry wine - I'll have to try it!  My guess would be that that is a fall tradition (sounds like a great idea for football tailgating), but I just don't know.  Is it just heating the wine, or should one add cinnamon or cloves or other ingredients?

Mr----

If you share some of that wine with your better half, her rehab might just be a little less painful.  ;D
As a bonus, you'll probably garner a little additional spousal Karma!  ;)

Yeah, well aware of that! ;D

When the kids were much younger (but beginning to read) I got her the classic sweatshirt: "If mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy."  She made sure they were aware of it when she wore it. ;)

Spousal Karma is what allows me to get to as many HS and college games as I do during the season.  ;D

Congrats to Amherst on their second national title.  Not very close, 87-70, over MHB, but a big crowd in Atlanta, over 6,000+.

Time for more recruiting news?
