New NCC seating looks good.

When next visiting IWU, all the CCIW chatsters will have to check out the new IWU classroom building, State Farm Hall, on the north side of the IWU Quad, including the platform on its front (south side) for IWU Graduation.  A very key, new addition to IWU's academic facilities, home now to Economics and Business Administration Departments, and many new teaching spaces -- much needed to replace the outdated Shaw Hall.  Do have a visit when next on campus.  (Was built, completed on the site of the old Sheean Library, which opened during my time at IWU, in 1968 as I recall it. Replaced by the ever-lovely, ever-incredible Ames Library in about 2002).

Do check out Nick Anderson's blog on the IWU bball team's Costa Rica trip -- on the iwu.edu sports pages.  Trip is August 8 onward, for about 8-9 days.  Titans will play 3 games, see some amazing eco-environments, in CR.  Good luck, safe travels, TITANS!

The Titans leave Chicago-O'Hare tomorrow at 7:00am for Costa Rica (they fly to Miami, and then to San Jose).

IWU's 3 games on the trip are...

Fri 8/9 - vs Costa Rica National Team (tip time TBD)
Tues 8/13 - vs Guanacaste/Liberia Select (6:15pm local tipoff)
Wed 8/14 - vs San Ramon ARBA (8:00pm local tipoff)

The first two games will be broadcast on national radio in Costa Rica.

Costa Rica is smaller than West Virginia. Any decent signal in Costa Rica qualifies as "national radio." :)

I know college athletes can't compete for compensation, but maybe the Titans can make a friendly wager.

If the Costa Rican team wins, then IWU provides beer nuts for everyone.

And if IWU wins, then they get a take home prize from the soon-to-close zoo.

Who wouldn't want to see a tapir decked out in green at future home games?

Wheaton ranked #2.

In compiling their research, the people from Princeton obviously never considered that Brigham Young admitted and graduated Jim 8-) McMahon.
Do you think he would have even gotten a toe. let alone a foot, in the door at Wheaton?  :o

The Weenies and Giovanines are very fortunate to be going on their respective foreign trips.
Last summer, the North Central Cardinals journeyed to Italy, a trip which afforded them both extra practice sessions beforehand, and the opportunity to both bond as teammates and strangers in a foreign land, and also to experience and enjoy the incredible sights and culture that is inherent in such an enlightening experience. I have little doubt that their great successes of last season resulted in at least some small way, from what was shared and gained during the time they spend preparing for, and then spending the time together in Italy.

Maybe.  Afterall, Wheaton admitted and graduated Matt Nadelhoffer.

Hope you gents saw the "partying" campus ranking list too -- U of I was #3, I believe.  Bigtime partying schools many of them in the Midwest, correlated highly with alcohol use and abuse.  Always lovely for the full development of brain matter.

Yes, Wheaton and BYU right up there with the military academies and that perpetual basketball power, Cal Poly.  Banana slugs?

Looks like a nice trip for the Augie teams -- beating the World Cup and the Olympics to Brazil.

I believe its the Cal Poly Mustangs from San Luis Obispo. The Banana Slug is the famous mascot of UC-Santa Cruz.

Any poll that ranks Wisconsin only #8 on a list of top party schools is bogus.
No more crazy of a time can be had in no more raucous of an atmosphere than during morning pre-game and afternoon and evening post-game festivities on a fall Saturday in Madison when the Badgers have a home football game. Consider that the Wisconsin football tunnel walk song is "99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall."  ;D

Does anyone know how many players IWU is taking to Costa Rico? Is there a printed roster anywhere? If I'm not mistaken, incoming players are not permitted to travel at this time of the year.

Along with Anderson, the players who will be on the trip are Randy Azuogu, Victor Davis, Bryce Dolan, Eric Dortch, Brandon Heyen, Rob Mahlke, Mike Marietti, Michael Mayberger, Brian Nelms, Dylan Overstreet, Joel Pennington, Danny Roadman, Pat Sodemann, Andrew Ziemnik and Brady Zimmer.
The above list is from the IWU web site.

* Incoming freshmen are not permitted to go on foreign trips. They must have actually attended class/earned credits to be eligible. I believe this is an NCAA regulation.

* No Ryan Coyle, Conor Hart, or Parker Musselman from last year. Are any no longer associated with the team?
