* No Ryan Coyle, Conor Hart, or Parker Musselman from last year. Are any no longer associated with the team?

All are still members of the IWU basketball team as far as I know.

In addition to abstinence, Wheaton received more news yesterday.

"Former Wheaton College prof pleads guilty to child porn charge" is the Chicago Tribune headline.  Two weeks after begin charged, he was fired from his job where he specialized in Christian education.

Wheaton's international trip happened at the end of the school year.  Two weeks in India.

Nick Anderson's blog on the Titans' Costa Rica trip has started.  Check it out.  Sounds like a really fun journey, with plenty of good time for bball and bonding.

All best to CCIW chatsters for the lazy hazy days . . .  new students -- international and domestic -- arriving on campus now within about 10 days.  IWU has a record number of international students this year, with over 50 newbies arriving on August 16th.  Great job IWU!  Keep going.  The "Titan nation" goes further internationally.  (Check out the story on iwu.edu).

Go TITANS!!!

Go Titans -- the beginnings of a very special season, IMHO.

I'd be interested in a further report on who is getting the main PT, who looks good early on.

I've heard from so many friends and travelers how special a place Costa Rica is.

It goes without saying that Carthage and Wheaton will have more than 1 and 2 recruits respectively. I also suspect North Park will be coming up with more than we already know about. It seems some of last year's NPU recruits were among the last to be revealed.

NPU is going to have somewhere in the neighborhood of 16-20 newbies on campus this fall. I and others have already named a bunch of them thus far on CCIW Chat: Austin Wood, Garett Gatz, JayQuan Lee, Juwan Henry, Matt McNamara, and Justin Mack all come to mind. There's also Marcellous Hazzard, a 6'2 guard from Minnehaha Academy whose arrival excites me because it means that NPU has finally reopened the Minnehaha pipeline, and not a moment too soon; the Red Hawks won the Class 2A Minnesota state title this past season (Hazzard was the leading scorer in the championship game with 14 points). North Park hasn't had a Minnehaha alumnus suit up for the Vikings since Micah Watkins a dozen years ago. Also, Gatz's teammate at Harper College, another 6'2 guard named John Lorenz, is coming to NPU as well, but Tom Slyder has informed me that Lorenz just tore his labrum and is questionable for this upcoming season. Tom named a bunch of other recent confirms, but the names were a blur to me. There's a kid from Africa, a Lebanese kid who played in the Chicagoland suburbs this past year, another kid with a Greek name that starts with a 'V', etc.

My understanding is that there's 16 newbies already in the deposit-paid category, and that the coaches are still working on maybe a half-dozen transfers who could commit before classes start up at North Park in a couple of weeks.

The other piece of good news is that Nate Rummel finally appears to be healthy. He was having some knee pain earlier this summer, but it turns out that it was just the normal process of scar tissue breaking up around his surgically-repaired meniscus. He should be good to go in 2013-14. Rummel doesn't wow anybody with his skills, but he has the experience that freshmen big men such as Wood, McNamara, and Mack don't have, and at 6'7, 250 he's a useful player to have available on the bench.

Marcellous Hazzard

I think we can close the voting for the coolest name in the CCIW right now.

iwu70

Agreed, pretty cool name.

NPU is gonna need a bit something more than a cool name.  Just say'in.

The NPU coaching staff is well aware of that. Just "say'in".

Greg, did you want to add "sic" to that post?   ;)
