Whether Augie backed in, drove in or jumped in -- they in.  I disagree however with your statement about nobdoy expected Augie to be in this postiion.  In the CCIW pre-season coached poll one coached voted for Augie.  And, since a coach can't cast a vote for his own team -- that would then most likely be my guess -- IWU's Scott Trost.

C'mon, IWM, you're inverting the meaning of Trost's vote. Scott Trost can't vote for his own team -- but if he could've voted for the Titans he most certainly would have done so. Do you really think that Trost thought back in November that Augustana would beat out his team for the CCIW crown? Do you really think he wouldn't have voted for Illinois Wesleyan if the coaches poll's rules had allowed him to do so?

Well Greg I would doubt he would have voted for North Park :o  I would think he voted for the team he thought most likely to win other than IWU.

Ypsi,

Don't be fooled by the inflated record of North Central.  5 of their 18 wins were vs. inferior NAIA opponents.  Plus if they go 1-1 this week, that gives them 6 conference losses.  I don't think a Pool C is an option with that many losses in conference play.  North Central (even if they go 2-0) must win the tourney or they will be going nowhere.

Yeah, the NESCAC really is getting away with murder on that single round robin thing.  They would be lucky to get two in, if they had to go double, but as it is, there is still a good chance they'll get three.  I'm glad that the difference is coming from obvious schedule discrepancies and not so much from the age-old argument about strength of region opponents.  The NESCAC would be just as screwed over as the CCIW if they actually played each other twice.

This is one thing, I'd say should be resolved.  I think the 12 game minimum is a decent rule change.  I'd support it, with all the weight I carry in the NCAA.

While we proposing legislation to submit to the competition committee, an official conference may have only 5 members, and we might need to make the legislation sport specific.

I would recommend

"double round-robin or a minimum of 12 scheduled conference games".

That would give some latitude.

We will be right there with you, IWUfan!  Leaving shortly.  A win would sure help to secure those post season hopes.

Wow, all of a sudden this board is re-dominated by IWU fans.  Where were you guys when Augie was running away with the title?
Should be an exciting night in the CCIW.  Two playoff caliber games on tap with EC/NC and IWU/Augie.  I will be tuning into the WRSE broadcast ( those who want to listen it is 88.7 FM,   Q is the IWU game going to be webcast on your usual station?
I'm still hoping for a 3 way share of the title so ( it breaks my heart but...)  I will be pulling for Wesleyan tonight.

Wow, you guys are rough with the Karma points.  Post a message and get blasted for not being on more, and lose karma, too.  Jaybird, I was right here, just don't have time to post all day.  Today I am home sick so thought I would read and post a quick message.  Congrats to Augie for clinching a share of the conference.  Is that better?

79jaybird

IWUfan,  I know what you mean with the karma.  Just 2 weeks ago I was +2 now -5 ?  Go figure.
I don't worry about karma as much as what is written ( text)  ;D

That's not the issue. You said that Devildog was wrong in stating that nobody thought Augie would be in this position. But Devildog was right. Trost certainly didn't think Augie would be in this position, and his vote in the preseason coaches poll is not an indication otherwise.

I'd accept that wording. Additional specificity is always a good thing. But by "minimum-sized league" I meant a league that met D3's minimal number of seven member schools in order for the league to qualify for a Pool A berth in men's basketball.

I'd still like to hear from the one CCIW Chat regular who actually gets a vote in the D3 convention for his opinion about my proposed legislation.

Jim Williams will have the play-by-play and I will do the color.  Looking forward to another good IWU/Augie game.

79JayBird,

Here is where you'll find the Augie/IWU game.

TitanFan12

Hi, I am new to posting on this site but I check it everyday!  I am a huge Titan fan and go to all the home games and almost all the away games.  I was wondering if the IWU vs. Augie game was being streamlined online tonight?

Go Titans!
GO TITANS!

79jaybird

JohnnyAugie--Thank you.  I will be tuning in back and forth between your game and the EC/NC game.  Unfortunately, I can't make the game.  It's that d*** thing called WORK.  >:(
