A NCC, Elmhurst, Wheaton 3-way tie:

NCC should get the #3 seed by going 3-1 vs. Wheaton and Elmhurst....they Elmhurst went 2-2 so would they get the #4 seed or would they start over the tiebreaking procedure as if it were just a 2-way tie for the #4 spot.  If that is the case, Wheaton gets the #4 seed

So basically...Wheaton must win out...and they have a real chance

So, if Wheaton beats Elmhurst and Carthage - AC beats NC - and NP beats IWU, there would be four teams tied at 8-6 in the league?!  If this happened, is this correct:

1 seed - AC
2 seed - WC (only one to split with AC)?
3 seed - NC (won both against WC, IWU and EC split)
4 seed - IWU (won both against Millikin, EC split)

Let's look at a more realistic finish (although that has proven not to be the norm):  let's say NC beats AC, EC beats WC, and IWU beats NP.  That would put NC, EC, and IWU at 9 - 5.  If that happens:

1 seed - Augie
2 seed - NC
3 seed - EC (sweeps over WC and CC)
4 seed - IWU

If AC beats NC, with EC and IWU winning:

1 seed - Augie
2 seed - EC
3 seed - IWU
4 seed - NC

I now have a headache!

I think that beating Elmhurst is going to be a tough one.  Wheaton does not match up well against the BlueJays this year.

It will be cool to see how the Thunder does now that one of their games REALLY matters!

I am really confused with Wesleyan's play.  Not to take anything away from Augustana, but the Titans are not the team they were earlier this year.  Are they waiting for the Tourney before they come alive again, or is this it?

My thoughts on the Augie game tonight....
The Vikes did nothing but kick down the door to the CCIW championship tonight!  They did not back in and the seniors came up huge...Congrats to Jay on his 1000 point as a Vike and to the entire vike's squad for a hard fought CCIW championship.....
As for IWU....I was unimpressed with the play of Adam D and Keelan...If they are as good as they are said to be then they should have taken the game over in the OT period...But tonight is not about negativity it is about an AUGIE CCIW CHAMPIONSHIP....CONGRATS GUYS WE'LL BE HERE OVER SPRING BREAK TO CHEER YOU ON!

Hoosier Titan

Congratulations to Augustana on winning the CCIW outright.  What a crazy season!
You'll never walk alone.

IWU fan, go put your skirt on and cheer in your bedroom.

After tonight, no questions asked:

Trost and nothing but Trost is the problem

Thank god , I am not a greenie.   Talk about invisibilty and withdrawal,  Who will show up now?

Go Redmen.

Stat, Titan nation wins together and loses together.  No one gets all the blame and, once again, what is the quota for Titan posts?

Jeff Gibbs...Jeff Gibbs...Jeff Gibbs...Jeff Gibbs...Jeff Gibbs...will that make you go away for awhile, now?!

North Park and Carthage combined for less than five turnovers in the first half.  NP scored over 50 points early into the second half when they had a 19 point lead.  Then Bosko deployed a press and NP had no clue, absolutely no clue, on how to break the press.  Granted, I am not schooled in bball, but I didn't see any adjustments to break the press.  Bosko continued to press as he saw its fruit and the lead disappeared rather quickly.  NP lurched, Carthage tied,  and then back and forth until the Red Men took the lead for the first time with 33 seconds remaining.  Was this yet another case of the NP coach getting schooled or was the team significantly hampered by having an undersized freshman as the squad's lone PG?  A combo?  Regardless, the common refrain from this year, " a new low" applies.

NP's two seniors, Brett Mathisen and Bjorn Berg, contributed mightily in tonite's game.  These two, and sophomore Jay Alexander, contibuted approximately 60 points tonite.  Bjorn's improvement this year is not lost with me.  Brett has been a legitimate talent in the CCIW these past two years!  Thank you for your dedication despite the program's problems!!

Quite a game at Carver tonight. This is one the Vikings really needed. They needed some momentum going into the post-season. Really terrific performances by just about everyone who stepped on the court. By far the best their offense has looked in any game I've seen. Their post players went to the hole with confidence and their 3-point shooting was outstanding. Harrigan didn't have one of his better shooting nights (7-19), but given the circumstances, it was a huge effort. He had seven points in overtime and finished with 26.

Dain Swetalla just keeps getting better. He was outstanding tonight (20 points, seven rebounds, three assists). Pat Brusveen is shooting with a lot of confidence and with Dain playing the way he did tonight, hopefully that gives the Vikes solid 3rd and 4th options offensively. Wessels was also huge tonight (7 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 1 turnover and a great job on Dauksas)...huge. Jay was solid as usual. Although he didn't put up big numbers, he did go over 1000 career points, a nice honor on senior night and the night the Vikes clinch the outright regular season title.

IWU had tremendous succes on their offensive glass all night. Amelianovich hit some big shots. I thought Matt Arnold played a very solid game and really made Harrigan work for his points. Schweer's foul was a hard one, but I think probably not intentional according to the rule.

IWU just made fun of the Augie announcers for not being professional.  I guess they clapped when Adam got hurt.  That's bush league.

If you've ever listened to an Augie game, they really don't have a clue.

If that's true that's absolutely terrible. I hope they were applauding Swetalla's bucket on the play, if not, that's terrible.

Other than that, nothing but positives tonight. ;)

Good call on Agnew. I imagine those who knew the source are all around 50 years of age or older.

I knew the Agnew/Saphire quote and I'm "only" 41. ;D

Congratulations to Augustana (and the Mosele's, Augie alumni) on their championship.  You have certainly earned it.

Brick

I have a hard time believing that the augie anouncers would clap when Dauksas got hurt...they may not be the best but that is just plain dumb to clap when another player goes down

Stat

Hammer, you thin skinned b.

Watching you and Q laughing in the foyer after the game is all I remember.

Just givin' it right back to ya, Stat.  However, you don't have a good memory:  Q and I were eating crow in the lobby after Otterbein beat Carthage...served up by the intoxicated Otterbein fans that met us in the parking lot before the game.

Stat

And all this time, I thought you enjoyed us getting beat.

titanhammer

No chance...we were staying in the same hotel and hoping to be a part of the Carthage Rock Stars.  When there's one CCIW team in the Final Four, I think all CCIW fans are on the same page.

Brick

Now there is nothing wrong with intoxicated fans....they add flavor to the game!
