And I'm sorry that your Royal Highassness got up on the wrong side of the bed today.

I mean holy frickin' crap TQ. Are you 97 years old and devoid of any and all sense of even lighthearted humor? Or perhaps you really moved to Kazakhstan or some other tremendously depressing place rather than to Lincoln, NE.
You really need realize you're not the king, and to get down off you high (green) horse and live among the common people where you might find a smile or two.
Super Wesleyan supporter IWU70 didn't have a problem with what I said, so why do you?? I even put in a smiley to indicate my comments were in jest, but you can't please all of the people all of the time.

By the way, thanks for the promotion. :)  You previously called me an "assclown." I'm glad you've moved me up a notch to "absolute jerk." Does a pay raise come with that?
Wow for sure!   :-*

What I guess I don't understand is the lack of respect you show to the elderly fans that attend IWU games.  That group of fans ought to be applauded and celebrated for their loyalty and passion -- not made fun of by a chat board guy with a constant chip on his shoulder towards IWU.

In the last few years, several elderly IWU basketball fans - the people who have taken that bus to away games for 20+ years, and who faithfully come to the Shirk Center for every home game - have passed away.  I know several others - in some cases, parents of friends of mine - who aren't doing very well and are in assisted care facilities.  Yet they still come to games if they can, or follow on the radio if they can't.  These are really good people who just care a lot about IWU and the basketball team.

I'm just extremely bothered by the reference to "nursing home residents that regularly make up a sizable percentage of the crowds in the Beer Nuts Center" -- seems really insensitive and disrespectful to me.  (And putting a cute smiley face thing after a comment does not erase it.  If you didn't mean it that way you had the choice of not saying it all.)

:o :o Boys, boys-----getting a bit personal isn't it?   :o :o  Time to move to another subject?

Anyone know what happened to Michael Kvam of Wheaton?   I only caught the end of Saturday's game and during the post-game interview it sounded like he is out indefinitely with Schauer saying he went through the most difficult 48 hours he has ever went through as a head coach??  Sounded very serious.

I don't know any details, but from what I've heard, Kwam is off the team by coach's decision. Sounds like a disciplinary issue.

While "absolute jerk" may have been a bit over the top, I think Bob quite eloquently expressed why he was so offended.  The grey-haired fans of IWU deserve respect, not mockery.  (And I wouldn't be too sure that IWU70 didn't take offense.  His parents are among those whom AndOne mocked.  And Mark and I just got our Medicare cards this past year, so it is now even more personal!  I think he was just being polite and playing along with what was clearly intended to be humorous - however much it may have gone over like a lead balloon ::))

But I agree - new subject.

AndOne

I do need to say one more thing to TQ and Mr. Ypsi on this subject, and then that will be it from my side.

I'm sorry, but you guys took what I said entirely the wrong way. There was not one iota of mockery or disrespect in what I said. All I was saying is that a sizable percentage of the fans at IWU basketball games are elderly. And thats nothing but the truth. I did not make any disrespectful comments about the fans, and certainly didn't mean them any disrespect. However, I think you saw it as an opportunity to twist what I said to your purposes and report what you thought I meant by outlining how you took it.
And before you doubt what I'm saying, let me tell you that from the 87th to the 92nd years of her life my mom was in an assisted care facility, and from age 92 until she died at 95, she was in a nursing home. For each of those 8 years, I visited her every day other than when I was sick, out of town on business, or on vacation. While there, I visited not only with mom, but with her table mates, other friends, and other residents as well. I frequently ran errands like going to their rooms to get sweaters if they were cold during dinner, or taking their plates and going through the food line if they had problems standing/walking. I ran bingo nights, and did things like organize watching Dancing With The Stars parties. I was frequently told by both residents and staff members alike both at Independence Village and Meadowbrook Manor Nursing Home that I was really "a pretty good guy."  For 8 years, I saw first hand on a daily basis the problems they faced just in the completion of the normal activities of daily living. I was proud to do whatever I could for whoever I could as often as possible. And I did it out of dedication and respect toward people in the very situations as the people that you are accusing me of mocking and being disrespectful toward. Heck, I've even had some pretty nice discussions with several of those very same "older" Wesleyan fans before and/or after games.  Sorry guys, but you're really off line on this one. Your arrows need to be aimed in another direction.

Looks like you heard right.  He's already been removed from roster:

How about Jon DeMoss?  He hasn't dressed in about 5 games or so.  It sounded like he was going to be able to contribute this year.

As you would expect, I have nothing but love, respect, admiration and gratitude for the elder Titan fans, those on the fan bus, etc.  I've been amongst them many times, know most of them personally, and now at 65, could surely be considered one of them -- one of the loyalists surely of the Titan nation.  And, I have the white hair and white beard to prove it!   That group is so dedicated and loyal and I think they deserve respect and thanks, surely not mockery . . . or to be the butt of jokes about being old.  Being old and so active and loyal is surely exemplar, and being old is not for wimps, for sure.  AndOne, I took no offense . . . just wish my folks could still make it to The Shirk, make it to games.  Sadly, they are now truly old and frail, so fragile at 95,l and have moved up to Minneapolis to be near my eldest brother, his wife, and daughter -- all doctors of various medical stripes and specialties. Yes, in assisted living.  Still clear-minded and loyal, to IWU and many other good causes, institutions, and friends from over the decades and miles.   My Dad is almost blind now and can only listen to the audio feed of the games from WJBC, WESN etc.  My Mom is in a wheel chair now and could not get out to games either -- they both still bleed green, and my Mom actually fell and broke her hip at The Shirk, requiring pins and an op -- so you could literally say she bleeds green and red for the Titans -- getting injured on a slippery icey sidwalk near Shirk, getting to a game a year or two ago.  I just hope my generation and Q's generation in the Titan nation are as loyal and steadfast to the IWU sports, arts, drama, and music programs, to supporting IWU students through action and giving, as have been this group of alums from the 30s, 40s, and 50s.  They have my admiration and respect for all time.

Looking forward to more Titan action upcoming . . . and I'm sure my Mom and Dad will be listening, watching and supporting IWU students, programs and events, as always -- for over 7 decades now.  My Dad is IWU'43 and my Mom IWU'40, afterall.

IWU'70

AndOne, you are so right -- being elderly, dealing with the vagaries of daily living when so frail and vulnerable, is no fun at all, no easy task.  Folks at an advanced age need, deserve all the support and help that can be provided -- to live a long-life of decency and respect.  We'll all be there some day.  ms

I heard that Jon suffered a knee injury.  I believe he has already had surgery.  Don't know if he will return.
