Choosing the best matchup with the opposing lineup certainly makes sense.
Off season knee surgery notwithstanding, Marietti seems to be moving pretty well presently.
Anderson picked up 3 fouls in just a minute and 3 seconds Wed night.
I'm not sure which of the 2 is better on offense and which is better defensively.

I think from a defensive standpoint against Carthage's quickness, Dortch might be a good weapon to employ against CC tomorrow night for more than his average number of minutes. Possibly the Green Team's best matchup against Kelly?

Wheaton fans.............

How much does the team miss the banished Michael Kvam?
Has his place/minutes mainly been taken over by Caleb DeMoss?
Has Michael Berg been replaced in the starting lineup?

Given North Park's situation at the center position, that's hardly an endorsement, Bob.

Looking at tomorrow's MU @ NPU contest, the Big Blue player who worries me the most is Deavis Johnson. I realize that T.J. Griffin is Millikin's biggest offensive weapon, but the Vikings simply don't have anybody who can match up with the combination of size and athleticism that Johnson brings to the table for Matt Nadelhoffer's squad. In the four games he's played since fouling out at North Central after spending fifteen minutes being a statistical nonentity, Johnson has played like a man possessed. He had 14 and 8 at Elmhurst, 12 and 11 against Illinois Wesleyan, 18 and 13 against Carthage, and 17 and 14 at Augie two days ago. NPU's got enough problems with which to contend without having to also figure out how to defend a 6'7 sophomore big man who is starting to spread his wings and realize how great he can be in this league. Short of sneaking into the visiting team's locker room before the game and putting itching powder in Johnson's shorts, I don't know what Tom Slyder can do to stop him ... especially if Michael Hutchinson has to miss another game for North Park.

Speaking of Millikin, I like the team pic:

Don't much care for the tie design, but I like the idea.

Shoes don't match and are not shined.  Not up to CCIW standards.   :(

Does that one wild European guy still coach at Carthage--he kind of reminded me of Baron Von Raschke from All Star Wrestling.  I saw them play at Elmhurst about 5 years ago and he just about had a hemorrhage over a call.  It was funny, since they were up by about 20 at the time late in the game.

For Millikin, against Augie, T.J Griffin did not play. Rumor has it he will not be playing this Saturday against North Park either.
It could be their only good chance for a conference win this year. As GS has said, the Park just isn't any good.

I think that they could steal one at Faganel, seeing as how they had a chance to beat the 'jays in the final ten seconds in the crackerbox this month.

Mr. Ypsi

Hey, but according to Massey, NPU is the best 15-loss team in d3! ;)

Ypsi, you are cruel.  Don't torment Greg like that. :)

Some very intriguing games today.

For what it's worth...not a Wheaton expert but I have seen most of their games this year...I think when the Thunder move the ball within their system and do not "over dribble", they play offensively at a very high level.

Some nights they shoot at a higher percentage, and some nights they do not.  Kvam was hot some nights, and some nights he was not.

Caleb has obviously stepped up to fill minutes and for the most part, I believe he has played very well.  Sometimes tries to do more off of the dribble than he should, but you have to love his assertiveness.

I also believe that you have to give Fisher some credit for quality minutes and shooting well and hitting big shots.

Not sure about the Berg starting question.  Maybe a little ding that limited his minutes or starts.  But I think he is good to go.  And I think he is getting better as the season goes on.  I know that you (And one) have questioned his talent, and for good reason.  I believe that he is a good hard working kid who is having a nice season.  And I think he will close this year strong and will have a great career.

This has been an interesting first half for Wheaton.  Schauer knew he had a tough non-con schedule, and pretty much every tough game on the road.

I'm sure he didn't expect to lose at Loras, and yet that loss may really haunt the team at the end of the year.

The Thunder have played pretty well in all games other than Calvin, yet losses still show up as losses.

This team needs to regain its ability to win close games, and win games that matter.

Hopefully And one, they can earn the W against your guys tomorrow night!

Just taking that from a smedindy post on the Top 25 thread - he listed the highest ranked team by Massey for each number of losses from 0 to 17.  IWU was tops for 2-loss teams, Wheaton tops for 6-loss teams, and NPU tops for 15-loss teams.  Greg already responded on that thread with the youtube clip of Homer Simpson going 'Woohoo!'  This was meant to acknowledge Greg, not torment him! ;D

Yeah, your posting of Homer didn't even require that posting! :D

I was just worried, Ypsi, as we all know how thin Greg's skin is and all!

Seems the polar vortex has returned over there.  Yikes.  Sounds truly brutal.

Will it be -30 in Kenosha tonight at tip-off time?  Crazy.  Let's hope the pipes in the Toolshed are strong.

GO TITANS!!  Two big games for IWU today up in Cheeseheadland.
