AndOne - not a Griffin Pils fan?  Besides it was Kmiec he pushed to draw the foul

thats good info, thanks.  It appears the cciw is in better shape than i thought.  a team like carthage that seems to be considerably better now than they were in nov and dec just needs a bid to make a run.

Well, it's a picture in a moment of time.  I also looked and there are only 4 teams outside the top 50 with 3 or fewer losses (PSU-Behrend, St. Vincent. Vassar and Hilbert.  I've only followed the selection process closely one year, so I don't have a great feel for how it might work out, but there is a change this year where all D3 games count in the process (in the past it had been only in-region games).  I also have no idea how many upsets to expect taking away a spot from another Pool C candidate.  Finally, I think some of these teams will have historically high numbers of games against regional ranked opponents, which may also play into the process in ways we haven't seen before.

It'll be fun to watch.

I think the generally accepted guideline has been an in-region winning percentage of .700 or above puts you in the conversation for Pool C bids.  I don't think we've dipped below that number too often.

But, this year the 70% rule might change the line a little.

You are also in a region, and I think Q would back this up,  with a committee that puts its teams in a better position to make the tournament.  Other regions are not so kind to their regional members.

Being that he plays for a rival, no, I'm not a fan as you would expect. Its not a personal issue, but just something that in closely observing players around the league, has been very noticeable about Mr. Pils for a long time. I guess he should be commended for being able to get away with it as long as he has. Its very obvious, and I am at a loss as to why the refs don't call it. The other nigh it took a forearm shiver rather than the regular jabbing arm bar for an offensive foul to be whistled against him. Something no ref could miss. And you are correct, it was delivered to Kmiec, not Rourke. My bad.

As many have agreed, too much defensive pushing and shoving has occurred in the last several years. Something definitely needed to be done, but not to the extreme they were in the beginning of this year. While not a fan of the recent years excessive physicality, I do like some contact within the game. As it seems to me that the field is tilted in favor of the offense, I like to see things like offensive arm bars called as I feel it helps put things back on even ground instead of favoring the offense so much with every minute transgression whistled against defenders while offensive players regularly get away with stuff like arm bars, hooking the defender to go around him, and dropping/leading with the shoulder to create space.  :)

I agree - the Midwest Region committee always seems to slot its teams in the right order to maximize Pool C chances.

Congrats to Peters and Zman.

Thanks, too, for the good info, run-down on Pool C possibilities.  Very useful.

Congrats to Zman and IWU's Lexi Baltes for regional nomination for Academic All-American, too.  National teams selected next month.

Keep it rolling Titans -- on the court and in the classroom

At this point in the race, of course CC, IWU and WC best positioned to win the title.  Key games to be played.  Schedule favors IWU.  Gramps may have his say at the end of the day.  CC the big surprise in the first half as many of us had NCC in the top four.  But, to remember, most of us had CC higher if Gramps returned and played well.  He surely has in the recent 8-9 games.  Augie seems in a tailspin just now, a tough stretch.  Perhaps the conference title will be determined by games with EC and NCC.  I think more upsets coming.  Gotta grind it out, win the key games at home and hope you can steal one or two away -- the formula to the crown every year.  I hear ya, Malcom, but I'm still with Ypsi on this one.  Like my Titans at the end of the day.  Plus, The Shirk a very nice place to host the CCIW tournament.  You'd be most welcome there.   :)

Good luck to all the rest of the way -- 6 games and counting now.  Seniors know the time is now.

There's still a whole month of basketball left to be played.

Through a generous $1500.00 donation by this person...ctmchugh0699, Dave McHugh's Hoopsville campaign was at $10,010.00 last night when his marathon program ended. Happy to see that his goal was met, on the day that he spent so much time on the air. Would have preferred to see a donation of that size put him $1500 over the top though.

As Dave has mentioned, the $10,000 figure was a goal and by no means is his campaign over. With 10 days left he will continue to welcome additional contributions so his "Rainy Day" fund will have a balance to fall back on if needed. Let's keep the overall total on the rise for the next 10 days.

If you haven't already done so please consider a contribution, which will  help the Hoopsville experience become a better showcase for D3 basketball. Contribute what you can afford, it doesn't have to be a big dollar amount. Remember, if only 10% of the D3hoops members gave just $10, then Dave's goal would be reached more than 3 times over. A lot of smaller contributions add up to a large amount. Let's keep the ball rolling.... We now return to our regularly scheduled program.
