I have watched the game again on demand.  There were certainly some questionable calls and no calls.  Just like any other game.  But not just from Mr. O'Boye.  Q's hope for a closely called game came true with 57 fouls being called, 3 of which were intentional.  Mr. O'Boye made 23 of those calls, one of them an intentional.  Other than a few pats on the rear from Mr. O'Boye to IWU players, just another closely called game.

Wheaton had ample opportunity to close this game but missed free throws and wasted possessions hurt them.  Pretty much the story of our season in these close games against good teams.  For some reason, this Wheaton team has not figured out how to win close games.
So again, see you at the Shirk tomorrow.

So if O"Boye is assigned to the IWU games this weekend by the CCIW then it's also not an issue for IWU or O'Boye?  Just following orders.....
"I am what I am"  PTSM

D-3 watcher

If the CCIW assigned O'Boye to do the Wheaton-Augie game, would you or anybody have a problem?
He's a smart guy, he did send his kid to IWU.
The problem would be, after ever call, one side would be always questioning why he made it. I don't think that's fair, but I believe it would happen.
As in IWU fan, if it was the other way around, well I would like to think he called it like he saw it. But.................

Mr. Ypsi

At the half in B'town:  Augie 33, Wheaton 31.

Mr. Ypsi

Wheaton dominated the second half and wins, 66-55.

A mixed night for Wheaton, as the women lost to my Titans, 79-66.  I hope it is NOT a mixed night for the Titans!

Mr. Ypsi

At the half, IWU 36, Carthage 34.

Jordan Nelson has 10, no one else on either team has more than 6.  One of Nelson's threes must have been at least 35 feet!  It was all net.

Marlon Senior and Mike Kastel each have three fouls; no one else on either team has more than two.

Congrats to IWU, but really great effort by Carthage.  I don't know if you can play yourself into a Pool C bid with a loss, but Carthage went onto the home court of the #4 team in the country and took them to the limit, missing a three that would have tied it with 15 seconds left.

But, of course, to beat IWU, you have to play perfect (or be Loras) and Carthage was slightly less than perfect.

Good win for the Titans, play WC tomorrow for the AQ.  Titans dodged a bullet tonight in a game that had little flow, few runs, too many timeouts, media and otherwise.

Nelson 17
Zman 16
Overstreet 10
Sodemann 9

Carthage played out Titans very tough.

Senior 19
Kelly 16

I hope Carthage gets in.  I think they could make an impression in the D3 dance.

IWU70

Mr. Ypsi

For IWU: Nelson with 17, Ziemnik with 16, Overstreet 10.

For Carthage: Senior with 19, Kelly with 16, Logan with 10.

Carthage now definitely on the (lower end of the) bubble.  I wish them good luck.

Bopol, agreed on Carthage's effort.  I bet they would be in the top half of tourney teams if they could make it.  Carthage is a really good team.

Given that all Pool C teams lose this weekend (except some UAA's) I don't think this loss hurts them in the Midwest rankings.
