I think Wooster to Wash U is over 500 miles.  So if they want to avoid a flight, that leaves Hope/Wheaton or IWU...and IWU should be the highest seed there.

Yes, distance between campuses is about 515 miles. If Wooster and Wash U advance, I think they will cancel each other out for hosting possibilities.

So if a Sectional is...

* Wooster
* Hope/Wheaton
* Wash U
* IWU

...I think IWU would have a great chance to host that.

Titans have a lot of work to get to that Sectional (I've heard St. Norbert is really good - D1 transfer stud), but I think IWU has a pretty good chance to play 4 games at the Shirk Center.

Holy bracket of torture. And I thought the CCIW Tourney @ the Shirk was a challenge.

Someone here really doesn't like that I said the bracket looks like a "joke" huh?

Negative karma? Get real.

Not just what you pointed out but also Hope's women would have priority for the Sectional round.

I would think WashU's women, too.

I don't think WashU could host a sectional(even if they could), no matter what the Wooster winner would have to fly to St. Louis.

Good point as I doubt NCAA would want to pay for a flight.  I do (painfully) know the distance between IWU and Wooster is just barely under the 500 mile limit.

Don't like the bracket. I hope the NCAA has to make 12 flights the next weekend.

And as Judge Smails would say, some people (Augustana) simply don't belong.

Somebody in Indianapolis will have a lot of explaining to do if you are correct!

havej

Augustana "simply" doesn't belong as if they shouldn't even be considered?

Let's see - they beat the regular season or tournament champions in the CCIW, IIAC, and MIAC.  They beat the 3rd place teams in the WIAC and UAA.

Four of their seven losses are to teams in the tourney (IWU and Wheaton).

They have two bad losses (NCC at home and Elmhurst on the road).  They lost at Platteville on the road without Schlitter.

They don't belong?  Who from the region is more deserving?

7 losses. Next thing you know 3 loss football teams will get Pool Cs.

Carthage doesn't get in, but this year was great.  When I think about it, what else could have happened to make it better?  They beat the #3 and #4 teams in the country at home and the IWU game was an absolute blast because a) they won and b) the two teams played wonderful basketball.

The committee dropped the ball a bit IMO.  The Bowdoin pick was a bad one.  Springfield and Dickinson were both acceptable even if I think Carthage had a slightly better resume.  The brackets are unusually messy with way too much unnecessary.

It's a shame that there can't be a mini-NIT for MSOE, Defiance, Carthage and Dubuque.

Anyway, good luck to the 3 CCIW teams that are in and I hope you show everyone by advancing that the committee flubbed leaving the Redmen out.

Selection committee chair Steve Ulrich was on Hoopsville just a bit ago and started bringing up things like "eye-test" and "tournament history" as factors in the selection process.     Wow.

Roop is a Beloit fan. Enough said about his qualifications to judge Pool C selections. Beloit hasn't been near the MWC conference tourney let alone the NCAA tourney since the Bill Knapton era ended about 5 years before Coach K should have retired.

Beating Elmhurst at Elmhurst comes to my mind immediately!   ;D
