The problem is by going to a national system, you go away from the regionalism that presidents in Division III champion. We have stretched the terms pretty loosely for awhile now and even changed 400 miles to 500 miles for travel... I doubt it would go further. Another thing about a national RPI system to "seed" a bracket (which again, doesn't happen officially), you may end up still having to reward teams hosting chances over those with better numbers because geographics has to dictate at some point in time... as everyone is seeing in a potential Wash U, Wooster, IWU, Hope pod next weekend (which would automatically go to IWU unless Hope women lose and it actually has to be a decision).

All by a mere 15 miles...

Maybe we should just call it a regional tournament with the chance to make it to "nationals" at Salem.  Pre determine the number of pool c teams from each region as we don't have enough national criteria to really compare teams across regions.

What happens if IWU loses and next week the pod is Wooster, WashU, St Norberts and Wheaton? Does Wheaton become the defacto Shirk center? Or even if it's Hope instead of Wheaton, Devos over the other teams?  Even more mind boggling.

Comes down to geographics... not that uncommon. We aren't that far removed from #1 regionally ranked St. Mary's and #1 regionally ranked Middlebury having to both travel to Rochester (not highly ranked) for the sectional weekend because SMC and Middlebury were more than 500 miles from each other.

You do know that is exactly how it happened... right? If your region had eight teams regionally ranked... that's the number of teams in the tournament from that region.

QuoteJust another normal bracket for the D3 women's basketball committee, where the most important number seems not to be W-L, SOS, RPI, or national ranking, but bus fare. Quote from: Hwbb on Yesterday at 01:09:02 pm Women's Basketball Great Lakes MIAA [quote/]

St. Norbert to Wooster is over 500
Wash U to Wooster is over 500

All 3 are less than 500 to Wheaton and Hope.  They would likely get the nod.

At least with that system we could find out who was in the secret final regional rankings!

Really do think the final regional rankings should be released.  Big questions on the women's side too.  Same deal.

Usee, some pretty funny stuff there, my man.  I particularly liked "Eric Clapton Dortch" and "George Michael Mayberger."   :)  I think both of these guys are going to sing well this weekend and have big first/second round games.

Good luck, safe travels, to all the teams this weekend.  Should be some really great games.

Q- Miller is 6'8 and 270. Griffin is 6'6 w/ like 7' wingspan and very athletic. Huskey off the Bench goes about 235. They are Big Boys and Miller plays the middle of WU's 2-3 zone with his hands always up. Old school style. The paint will be crowded at both ends.
