I want to say to the classless student that was wearing the green **** with long hair and sun glasses in the front row grow up.  U can talk smack all you want but to  yell as you are leaveing the game in your car  Augustana can f yourself.  And the over rated chant from the team that was number one for a chunk of the season.  U are pure trash my friend.

Now that that is said heck of a game by IWU came in with a good game plan and made it work.  Still think it is a different game if Harrigan doesn't role his ankle in warm ups.  Good luck and hopefully the most CCIW teams get in the tourny and all represent  it well.

I think a more appropriate comment on Augie's season my be over achievers not over rated.

Ypsi, you should be ashamed . . . but will take the win and run, right?  Would be nice if three CCIW teams get in, but looks now like Augie and IWU make it.  NCC has lots to play for tomorrow.  Great win tonight for the Titans.  I thought the difference was the very strong play of Zach and the Jones brothers.  I was able to watch the video streaming here in Hong Kong most of the game, though the audio was of pretty poor quality.  I new day --my Saturday morning baozi with CCIW bball.  Luckily, (Greg) the internet police haven't come to drag me away yet for my mild critique of Coach Trost (and Bloomington's Chinese cuisine), though I'm sure the laogai awaits me for other greater offenses.  Q, thanks again for a good call on the game.  We all appreciate you and your team very much!

Obviously not one of Augie's better performances tonight. IWU's offensive execution was outstanding all night. Only seven turnovers and 52% shooting (it sure seemed a lot better than that).

I'll disagree with Dennis a little bit concerning Harrigan and McAdams-Thornton. Not to take anything away from the Titans defense, I think was more a case of them both just having off nights. Jay missed multiple point blank shots and Harrigan's shot was way off all night, even on the good looks he got. Both of them were really forcing it the last 12 or so minutes.

A key play came late in the first half. With a chance to cut a 7-point Titan lead to 5 or 4, Pat Brusveen got frustrated and committed a really bone-headed intentional foul against Jason Fisher. Augie had a fast break going at the time. They lost possession and the Titans converted both free throws and scored on the ensuing possession and a potential 5 or 4-point lead was 11. It was out of character for Brusveen and Wesleyan made the Vikings pay.

The one positive would be that Dain Swetalla keeps getting better. He had 23 points and 15 rebounds tonight and is really playing exceptionally well.

Although I wasn't in the best mood towards the end of the game, I did get a kick out of the IWU students chanting "over-rated." Sometimes irony is lost on young people.

Should be a great game tomorrow. Both teams executed their offenses almost to perfection tonight (although NCC did have an uncharacteristic 17 turnovers). I think one potential advantage for IWU is that the Cardinals will be playing back to back days and don't go very deep with their bench.

I hope all the predictions of Augie being a "lock" for the tournament are correct. I have a sense (and I'm probably not the only one) that the CCIW teams that make the tournament are probably looking forward to playing someone else for the first time in a long time.

Mark,

Sounds like we had the same experience - the video was acceptable, the audio was poor.  What a small world it has become!

Yeah, I blew the prediction, but I'll take the excuse from many posters on the MWC or MIAA boards - it was the ref's fault!  But I guess I can live with 'only' a 14-point win.

iwu70

Chuck, let's have your predicted "only 14 point" wins the rest of the season and post-season.  Impressive win by the Titans tonight.  NCC will be another tough one, though I like our chances given IWU's depth.

Johnny Augie

In general, I've always hated the over-rated chant.  In all sports, teams should be happy to get a quality win over a highly ranked team.

My hatred for the chant is up there with end-zone celebrations.  I'm more impressed to see a guy toss the football to the ref, rather than to go hump a field goal post or dance like an idiot.

Nice win by IWU, I enjoyed watching the game on the internet.  It gets confusing trying to keep up with the Freemans and the Jones twins.  I never know which is which until the box score comes out.

Mark,

I've gotten burned too badly on this board  (including for predictions I never even made!) to make any specific prediction, but I DO think the Titans have as good as chance at the 'Walnut and Bronze' as anyone, and better than most.

Was that vague enough to protect my ass?

The hell with it - the Titans are going to finally show why they were the unanimous #1 - they ARE going to win the title.  There, I finally said it, and I'll live with the consequences.

Chuck, on behalf of the other 58 teams, thank you, and the check is in the mail.  ;D

Completely agree with the first two paragraphs.  In regard to the third, Zach is left handed and Andrew is right.  As far as the Jones Brothers, it takes a true Titan fan to differentiate (without the assistance of jersey numbers).

Mr. Y...WHY?!?!?!  Pat, can we get this one removed from the board?

Goodness, I didn't think the consequences would start THIS soon - but if you insist on sending me a check, feel free.

As I tell my stat students, the three biggest lies in American life are:

The check is in the mail.
Of course I'll respect you in the morning.
The numbers speak for themselves.

[Not being a TOTAL moron, I elaborate only on the third!]

Sure was a lot more pleasant drive from Rock Island tonight than on Feb. 15 in the ice and snow and after a tough OT loss. I posted after that game congratulations to Augie for winning the CCIW title but mentioned that I had seen Augie play 4 games and the 2/15 game was by far the best Augie's offense had looked in the 4 games. I went on to comment that I doubted that Augie could ever repeat their offensive performance the rest of the year. Please excuse me while I pat myself on the back. Since the Feb. 15 game, Augie's offense has reverted to what it was most of the season, which is mediocre.
IWU tonight looked like the team that dismantled 2 very good teams in the Westmont Tournament. I'll take bets that no Titan fan comes on this site in the next 15 hours
and denigrates Trost as was done after the tough OT loss on Feb. 15.

Should be a great game tomorrow. I'm not convinced that the loser will make the D3 tourney. We'll see.
