Which SHOULD give them a clue about the relationship of QOWI to actual strength of schedule, but I doubt it.

I think you know full well that they are making steps in the right direction.

Also, you should probably know that the men's basketball committee does not set the criteria or decide how they are calculated.

Yeah, I'm aware that the selection committee doesn't set the standards - they are just the obvious fall-guys.

But, no, I wasn't aware of steps in the right direction (aside from, obviously, expansion of the tournament).  What have I missed?  QOWI seems to have exactly the same flaws as SOSI.

Feel free to respond on a less hectic day!!

Feb. 16 blog post, in the "NCAA Stuff" section of Daily Dose:

Thanks, Pat - I'd forgotten about that.  Here's hoping it fares better than the 'institutional break' proposal!  'Proposals' and 'moving in the right direction' are not always the same!

With Augie winning the CCIW regular season title, I initially wondered why this year for the conference tourney? Then I thought back to the Carstens, Clements, Thomas et al. teams that never made it to the tourney. Under the current expanded format, plus the CCIW tourney, I think they would have made it once or twice. Knowing that the regular season champ is virtually always going to make the NCAAs, the tournament is a good thing for the CCIW.

I think it can even go one step further: "UW-La Crosse has played seven games against ranked teams, Lakeland has none."

Actually Lakeland has played against a ranked opponent. They played at Hope in late December and played them very tough.
54-46 loss

But not in an in-region game, which is what the criteria are.

sac

Only because there's a big lake in the way. ;D

Lakeland indeed played the Dutchmen tough, it took a 10-0 run late for Hope to seize control.  I think Lakeland was up by 8 at one point.

Aww...the IWU student's rant got pulled off the board right when I was replying...what a shame

It's not easy being green,

nor RI blue & gold for that matter.

Last night's colors (at the end) were cardinal & white.

Sticks & stones, blah, blah, blah....

And now, back to your regularly scheduled, with dignity (except when I talk about the lack of competitiveness of the North Park basketball program) and class, CCIW chat.

I am determined to be wise, but this was beyond me.

(did that distance ever get measured by Pat on the Streets & Trips software? 'cause it grades out as 199.3 miles campus-to-campus on Mapquest)

Jesus, this should go in the FAQ it's been asked so much this year. Even by Randolph-Macon coaches.
And Pat, add to that 'will Lawrence with its gym get to host a sectional?' you will save a lot of database space ::)

Titans are in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats to NCC, Augie, IWU and the CCIW!

devildog29

Congrats to all 3 CCIW teams for making the tourney.  Interesting the conf. tourney seemed to aid the men getting 3 teams in, but the women only got 1 bid to Wheaton with the AQ.
Hail, Hail, the gang's all here, all out for Wesleyan!

titanhammer

Shouldn't there be more pool C's than what is listed?  I only see 10.

iwu70

Hammer, try again, and the rest will come up.  I saw only ten too the first time I looked.  They have them all up now.  Really too bad about the Titan women not getting in.  I thought they were deserving, though looks like they were just on the wrong side of the bubble-bursting line.  Great for CCIW men to get three teams in.  Now, let's all make some noise.
