Greg: Regarding NCC and the tight rotation working out: Yeah, but in both games, NCC was a different team in the 2nd half. I've seen NCC play 4 games and the trend is that they are usually a better 1st half team. They especially tend to wear down in the last 5 minutes. NCC scored only 14 in the 2nd half Sat. and maybe 25 (?) in the 2nd half against Elmhurst. So even though the tight rotation worked, it didn't work nearly as well in the 2nd half.

I have no idea about IWU will play, but I think geographically, it would be possible for Transylvannia to host a 4-team regional with IWU, DePauw and one other team, maybe Maryville (TN). I don't think DePauw and the St. Louis conf. AQ (is it the other Maryville?) would be sent to the same 4-team regional. But on 2nd thought, I imagine that both DePauw and Maryville (St. L) could be 2 of the 10 teams playing on Thursday night, possibly against each other.  I think it would be an advantage for IWU to be sent to Lexington, KY to a 4-team regional rather than to play Thursday and then to Lawrence on Sat. Who knows. But IWU has actually played better on the road this year than at home and has recent a history in the D3 tournament (as Chuck pointed out) of playing lights out on the road in 2nd round games.

The big question that Titan fans, Trost, and maybe even the players are wondering is: Which IWU team will show up in the tournament? The one that dominated Augie Friday or the one that was wretched Saturday?

For all you b'ball fans suffering from withdrawal Monday through Thursday this week, the Disney movie 8 Below is a great film. Similar to Seabiscut with dogs instead of horses.

(did that distance ever get measured by Pat on the Streets & Trips software? 'cause it grades out as 199.3 miles campus-to-campus on Mapquest)

Jesus, this should go in the FAQ it's been asked so much this year. Even by Randolph-Macon coaches.
And Pat, add to that 'will Lawrence with its gym get to host a sectional?' you will save a lot of database space ::)

Of course, Lawrence solved that problem last week by knocking out a wall and adding another deck of bleachers. Or so they say in the MWC room.  ;)

I wasn't at Saturday's game, but from everything I've read about it thus far it seems like the Cardinals didn't wear down in the second half but rather were victims of self-imposed stall tactics.

From your fingers to God's ears!

But there is no way the CCIW teams will end up in THREE different sectionals, and the left coast will NOT have anyone make it to Salem.

Still, the idea of a CCIW vs CCIW final sure is a nice fantasy!!

I think you might see Randolph-Macon or Lincoln from the East Coast, those are just my early guesses.

It's a good day to be a WIAC fan or an ODAC fan. One of the WIAC teams (UW-LaCrosse) got moved into a different section than the other two, and the two ODAC teams (Virginia Wesleyan and Randolph-Macon) are in different sections as well. In other words, those are the only two leagues that can dream about having two teams make the Final Four.

Awfully tough draw for the Cardinals!!  Why wouldn't NCC get the home game?  What are the determining factors?

I don't know about that. The Great Lakes/South sectional looks awfully tough to me.

It looks like they actually set it up for a real final.  The GL/South winner vs the MW/W winner.

Its great to see three CCIW teams in, but very frustrating to see that they are all in the same bracket.  Plus, a fourth historic CCIW team in Carroll.  I am also surprised that NCC doesn't get to host a game.  It almost looks like NCC was the equivalent of the last seed in the Lawrence section.  I thought they deserved better.  A couple of possible CCIW-WIAC matchups in the second round look very intriguing.  Another Hope-Calvin game at Hope might break a tournament attendance record.  And a possible Maryville-Maryville matchup in Mississippi could be fun.  Another anomaly that I just noticed - the upper right bracket has two bye teams, the bottom right has none, although Hope having to play Wis. Lutheran might as well be.  The worst part of all of this is that we have to wait until Thursday.

The CCIW got three teams in, but none of them are potentially matched up in the second round.  That's better than the CAC and the MIAA who have their only two teams set to do battle the first weekend.

I think the CCIW got enough respect, they just happen to be in the toughest region.

I'd agree with that.  I think the GreatLakes/South and the Midwest/West Sectional are likely the two toughest brackets.
