Yes, Bob, especially when I:

* Specifically indicated it was just a rumor.
* Indicated that I have heard the same thing from more than one source-which usually lends at least some degree of credence to the subject matter.
* Purposely did not include any details because I, myself, have not observed what I was told.
* Served only as the messenger, and did not personally make any accusations, either expressly stated or implied, with regard to the deportment/attitude of the concerned individual.

Furthermore:

* You had no problem reporting that you have heard "nothing but good things," but took issue when I reported that I've heard a bit of a different angle, and from more than one source.
* You completely ignored, and conveniently failed to acknowledge in any way whatsoever, the fact that in the very same post, I also commended two other players. You seem to be fixated on attempting to promote the position that every comment I make about your favorite team is some type of negative reflection when, in fact, such is far from the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth! Did you see what I said about Coach Rose in my reply to John Gleich??
* I offered to advise you privately, as opposed to in a public forum as you're fond of calling it, as to the specifics of the case. But, alas, you evidently weren't interested for whatever reason.

Lastly, Bob, if you want to talk about something really crappy....

* Perhaps you would do well to remember that you are the one who has referred to a fellow poster as an "assclown" and  "complete jerk." As Casey Stengel said "you can look it up."
* Under the circumstances, your attempt to act in a way that suggests you have higher standards or more noble objectives is rather amusing. Even way up here in Illinois!

At any rate, the judge has issued a gag order going forward on this case. So, time to move on to another topic. Peace.

Gracious me.  What happened to discussing basketball?  Perhaps we need another kind of exorcism.

I'd love to see Mr. Falotico on the court in game conditions so we can truly judge his basketball skills.  Perhaps he makes a gesture after he makes a trey!  LOL ;)

Let the games resume, following finals.

Sending you guys a little warmth and good holiday cheer from the Far Side.

Matt Nadelhoffer is a fine coach, but he had a monumental task rebuilding the Millikin BB program. It is still a work in progress.

It is obvious the WIAC is way down this year, which I think arguably makes the CCIW the nation's best DIII conference from top to bottom this year. It should be an interesting year despite the high expectations for Augie. I think there is a good chance three CCIW teams make the NCAA tourney.

Also I am sorry to see Brady Rose hurt. I remember years where Augue lost key players, and it really hurts. I prefer to see all teams competing at full good health, so every victory is a real validation of a team's talent.

I know I'm an intruder on a board I only occasionally frequent but your ongoing argument (if it can be called that) is more than I can stand. You make several logical fallacies in a very short space and it seems to boil down to this:

Telling a rumor is OK because I told you I was passing on a rumor and, in any case, the rumor has validity because several people repeated it so it's probably true, and to my great credit I didn't repeat any of the rumor's details because that would be rumormongering and you shouldn't shoot the messenger because all I did was pass on rumors not create them, and besides, I said some nice things about a couple of people in the midst of passing on those rumors.

Got all that? The mind boggles even if one ignores the ad hominem. I don't know TQ but I've read enough of his posts (and heard him on Hoopsville) to know that he's a good observer of D3 basketball and is fairminded in his assessments. He's also a big fan of IWU basketball. So what? Doesn't this board exist for fans of the various schools?

As a prelude note to tonight's Augie-WashU encounter, in 5 of the last 7 regular-season meetings (including tonight), one of the teams enter the game as the #1 team.  Not sure there are any other rivalries that have that unique quality.

Should be a fun one at the Fieldhouse tonight!

the inability to convert an acceptable number of opportunities from the FREE throw line...

I'm not sure you're giving UWSP's Free Throw defense enough credit...  :-X  ;)

Point definitely isn't the 9th best team in the land right now. The team doesn't defend particularly well and struggles when rebounding. There is no real identity to this team right now and, it seems, a lack in creativity in trying to discover what that identity might be.

This isn't to take anything away from NC. On the contrary, it's precisely why I thought that SP would have difficulties!

I think that's part of what makes the CCIW a tough league right now. You're stocked full of great coaches who have the ability to cast vision to their teams to create an identity for each program. And it also goes to GS's "never going to have another team to undefeated" point. Even eliminating the quality of the players (which is certainly there as well) is the fact that each team has a different tact in how it will win the game and they're able to force this will on their opponent.

This, of course, is the goal of every team... but not all are able to achieve that goal. For even the best teams, they won't always be able to dictate the style of play and then they're forced to play the other team's game. And it's very difficult to be "all things to all people" on the basketball court and come out a winner each time!

John,

I think you make a great point about the level of coaching in the CCIW. Briefly, off the top of my head, and I know I'll leave some details out, but consider:

* Bosko D., currently at Carthage, has won national championships. it doesn't get any better than that.
* Grey Giovanine of Augie is a great tactician, and always has highly ranked teams. National runner up last year.
* Todd Raridon at NCC has taken two different schools to the Final Four, and has a national runner up finish as well.
* Look what Ron Rose has done at IWU. Almost automatic he goes to the national tourney every year, AND goes deep into the tourney. Has at least two Final Four appearances.
* Mike Schauer at Wheaton has been successful for an extended period and has been to the national tourney multiple times with 2 different teams.
* John Baines has turned around the Elmhurst program in just a couple of years, and has a team capable of making a big splash on the national scene this year.
* Tom Slyder definitely has North Park on the upswing after years of floundering. I think his current team is capable of a win in any game they play.
* Sorry, don't know much about the Millikin coach.

I mean, it's practically the NBA.  ::)

Good plan - they could start the game in Rock Island and finish in St. Louis! ;D

North Park 92
Coe 90

Juwan Henry: 33 pts, 7 rebs
Jordan Robinson: 22 pts, 8 rebs
Colin Lake: 19 pts (5-11 trey), 4:0 a:to
T.J. Cobbs: 5:1 a:to

Juwan Henry drove the lane and banked one home with 3.8 seconds remaining to win the game, as Coe's desperation 27-footer at the buzzer rimmed out. Very exciting game, as both teams absolutely blistered the nets; NPU shot 55%/40%/71% and Coe shot 48%/48%/81%. The Kohawks opened the game by going 6-7 from beyond the arc to take ten-point leads at 18-8 and 22-12, but the Vikings fought back with a 10-2 run, and the first half was close from there on in. Coe did the exact same thing to start the second half, going 3-4 from downtown to take a 62-50 lead, but again the Vikings fought back from double digits with a 15-2 run of their own. Down the stretch, the game remained a one-possession lead either way for the last eight minutes and change.

Coe is very solid. This was a good win as well as a character-builder for the Vikings (4-2).

Other early finals:

Millikin 67, Cornell 56
The Big Blue improve to 5-4 with a win in Iowa, paced by Tommy Pilackas (30 pts) and a really nice floor game from Jack Simpson (7:1 a:to). T.J. Sims missed his second straight game.

Elmhurst 76, Dubuque 64
The Bluejays (7-1) likewise picked up a win in Iowa. Kyle Wuest had 19, Bryant Ackerman added 16, and Erik Crittenden chipped in 14 as the 'jays led wire to wire.

Sounds like a great game, Greg.  Hard to stop the Henry-Robinson combo.

IWU looking pretty good in the first half vs. Loras.  But, Loras hanging around.  Falotico seeing his first floor time.  Nelms had a good first half.  T. Seibring too.

#41114
Loras 92
IWU 81

Defensive struggles return for the Titans. They just had no answer/matchup for 6-6/235 combo forward Mirko Grcic, and just couldn't get stops consistently throughout the game.Offensively, IWU looked pretty disjointed for large stretches of the game.

The Titans are just not a very good team right now.  Hopefully they can put the pieces together before the league starts.  IWU now travels to UAA favorite U. of Chicago on Monday.

IWU last played at Loras two years ago, as the #2-ranked team in the country...and also lost.
