Massey's predictions for tomorrow:

North Park 79, @ Millikin 74 (NPU 68% favorite)
Elmhurst 79, @ Wheaton 67 (EC 86% favorite)
North Central 73, @ Illinois Wesleyan 70 (NCC 57% favorite)
Augustana 76, @ Carthage 56 (AC 96% favorite)

Ken's Hal 9000 supercomputer doesn't seem to put much stock in home-court advantage as far as this weekend is concerned.

Looks like his formula factors in about 5 points of homecourt advantage.

Elmhurst travels west on Rt. 38/Roosevelt Rd. to play in Wheaton tonight. The Jays haven't won on Wheaton's court since 2009. I expect Wheaton (who took both Augustana and Hope down to the wire on the road) to give the Jays a tough game but I think Elmhurst's depth will prevail in the end.

I was surprised to hear that EC was one of the Thunder's 4 conference wins last year.  After just perusing last year's box score searching for clues that might help tonight, I can say that I like our chances if Teuscher scores 26 points again, going 16/17 from the FT line(only this time it will be Riley, not Brayden).

I'm wondering if there will be the normal pretty stout turnout at King from the BlueJay fans since they might expect this to be a not so competitive affair?

I remember thinking the Bluejays may have cost themselves a berth in the D3 tourney after last years loss in King Arena.  Wheaton played a great game.

By the way, that 2009 win over Wheaton in King Arena was when the Thunder were ranked #1 but Raymond was out with an injury.  He came back a few weeks later and led the Thunder to CCIW regular season and tourney titles.

Ah, yes, the infamous "Raymond's high ankle sprain" thread of 2009. That turned everybody on CCIW Chat into an amateur orthopedist for a couple of weeks.

I didn't get into the orthopedic discussion, but recall it also set up quite a debate (Top 25 thread?) on what to do with a great team who briefly loses their indispensable player, loses a couple of games, but then the player comes back?  (My position was once they show they are as good as before, virtually ignore those losses, but some vehemently disagreed. 8-))

Well, probably one of the few threads you did not jump into 😄😀

With my post count, I suppose it would be pointless to argue! 8-)

Yep, considering you are 3720 more posts than Sager!  Unless, Sager's post counts have rolled over😄  But Sager wins the word and quote count 🤓😳🙄

Final from Decatur: North Park 77, Millikin 71. The Big Blue jumped out to a quick 8-0 lead before the Vikings came back with a 13-2 run.  Juwan Henry led the Vikings with 26 points and Michael Hutchinson and Jordan Robinson each added 11.  The Big Blue were led by TJ Sims (25 pts) and Tommy Pilackas (16 pts).  The teams combined for 31 turnovers.

Final from the Griz:

North Park 77
Millikin 71

Juwan Henry: 26 pts, 6 rebs
Michael Hutchinson: 11 pts, 11 rebs
Jordan Robinson: 11 pts
T.J. Cobbs: 10 pts, 5 stls

T.J. Sims: 25 pts
Tommy Pilackas: 16 pts, 6 rebs
T.J. Grifffin: 11 pts
Jack Simpson: 3 stls

It wasn't pretty, but I'll take it. On a night in which the Vikings didn't score for the first four and a half minutes and found themselves down 8-0, and then lost Jordan Robinson for most of the first half due to a bad cut below his eye, NPU still had the wherewithal to pull out the win. Give credit to MU, which did not play like an 0-4 team and had no quit in it.

I'm just pretty darned please to get out of Decatur with a win, no matter what the score.

Incidentally, the only reason Wheaton was ranked No. 1 if I remember correctly is because Elmhurst also knocked off then No. 1 Washington University a few weeks earlier.  Knocking off two No. 1 teams in one season...
