Another really exciting game.

Valiant effort by IWU but to no avail. Had to play a near perfect game and ended up shooting about as good as can be expected (12/24, 50% from 3). But 21 turnovers (9 for Augie), especially in mid 2nd half, was too much to overcome.

Yes, Augies tough D the difference, but the Titans gave them everything they could.  A very good game, going to OT.  Five Doggies in double figures.  No one should doubt the value of Hunter Hill.

Pennington a career game 20
Stempel 15
Dolan 11

Great trey shooting tonight, keeping the Titans in the game.  But, way way too many TOs to win against a team like Augie.

Thanks to Coach Rose and all the Titans for another exciting season.  Thanks to all six seniors for all your dedication and contributions to the IWU program.

Good luck to Augie down the road -- hope you make some noise in the Dance.  Looks like the CCIW might get three teams in.

Thanks to both teams for the extra five minutes.  Exciting game.

Maybe this is the year that Augustana (IL) and Augustana (SD) both win national titles.

Two great games tonight. Congrats to IWU scaring The you know what out of Augie fans.

Going forward Augie will have to play a lot better than they did tonight and against Wheaton last Saturday. Lately Augie has played just well enough to win, which is not encouraging for a team that hopes to go back to the Final Four. They will not get by the likes of Benedictine playing less than their best.

Great game...really nice showing by the Titans tonight.  IWU just turned it over too many times (21) -- had 14 less FGA.

IWU's gameplan and effort on both ends of the floor tonight was very impressive.

Huge thanks to the 6 seniors - 6 great young men who have represented IWU with class.

Elmhurst 60
North Central 58

Very exciting game.

Glad I made it to Rock Island for this one. Elmhurst played their best defensive game of the season. North Central's guards (who burned Elmhurst in the first two meetings) were held to subsistence levels of scoring, and tonight's tempo was much slower than the previous two meetings. Probably the best individual performances of the year from Pat Coleman and Will Nixon to boot.

Big win for Elmhurst to keep the season alive. Glad i was able to make it to the tourney yesterday as both games were great, but the winners don't have too much to be proud about.... The referees determined the outcome of both games. So sad to see what basketball has turned into, heck, all sports are starting to become a bore with all the rules.

Titan Q - Just wondering how you figured Augustana as a #5 national seed.  How does St Thomas, Benedictine, and the 2 others you mentioned, figure to look stronger to the NCAA?  Augie has a better win % than all but Benedictine, and their SOS is not shabby.

Our conference is arguably one of the strongest, and despite some lesser teams as far as team records, last I looked, we had 6 teams in the top 10 of the most difficult schedules in the country.  Some of that is due to playing the Jays, Cardinals, and Vikings twice, but I think IWU, Wheaton, and North Park played a challenging non conference schedule as well.

Looking more at SOS, it appears St Thomas, Marrieta, and John Caroll have better SOS.  Benedictine's is considerably less than Augie's.  Do they get the nod ahead of the Vikes due to there 4-0 regional mark and knocking off our 4 CCIW counterparts?  Or is it the fact that they beat Elmhurst and we went 1-1 against them?

Could Aurora losing knock them out of the reg rankings and lower Benedictine's regional record to 2-0?
And Augie winning tonight giving them a 4-1 record and 2 wins over Elmhurst help them to jump over an undefeated Benedictine team in the reg rankings?

This all seems very subjective to me.  Any insight would be helpful for all readers and esp. Viking fans.

Viking Mike -  you might check the Multi-Region Topics boards particularly Pool C and NCAA Tournament sub-topic boards.  This is where the number crunchers and tournament gurus camp is time of year.  Most posters will leave their region boards and spend ,oat of their posting time there.

You can learn a lot just lurking there.  And, you will get a variety of thinking from the "experts who explain how things work in D3 world.

Now that Hope lost in the MIAA semi, it is even more likely that the committee will pick even more CCIW teams at large because they are so outstanding.  ::) Except that Alma beat Hope and also beat CCIW teams this year.   ???  Flummoxed by the gravity of it all. :o

As I said last weekend, I was requested to announce during NPU's Senior Night that the game would be the last of Ken Falkner's career. I complied with the request. So which three CCIW-pool refs called today's Wash U @ Chicago game at Ratner? Andrew Williams, Tony Driscoll ... and Ken Falkner.

I've been duped.  ;)

I strongly disagree.

Well, technically correct as it could have been his last CCIW game of his career  ;D :o ::)
It depends on what the definition of last game is what it is
