That could be. But I'm not a mind reader, nor do I play one on TV.

(Heck, I didn't even stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night. ;))

Seriously, though, Sims is such an outstanding player that I'd be shocked if he pulled a Kent Raymond (or, perhaps more fittingly, pulled a Drew Gensler) and gave up playing the sport on the intercollegiate level in order to become a regular student.

My 2003 logic 104 class from UW Fox Valley would suggest there is a distinct possibility he will end up a transfer player at UW Whitewater.  They like them you know.

Ya. And the price is right too! 💸 😏

Mr. Ypsi

Well, the title game is set: Benedictine vs. St. Thomas (the ouster of Augie).  I was hoping it would be the Bennies against CNU, so we'd have TWO Salem 'virgins' going head to head, but this was the final I expected (once UST downed Augie, which was the final I really wanted).

At the risk of getting gibes about 'pulling an Ypsi' (but I don't know how to research this question without going through 70+ years of game-by-game records, and am hoping someone either knows or has seen a report that I missed): Is Benedictine going 5-0 against the CCIW totally unprecedented?  I'm guessing it is, since few teams ever play 5 CCIW teams in a single season, and going unscathed would be difficult, no matter how good the team.

Gregory Sager

Only two or three CCIW schools have all-time year-by-year results posted online, Chuck, and BU doesn't, either, so there's absolutely no way to answer your question.

What happened with Benedictine this year?!?!  Last year they lost to Concordia (WI) twice and Concordia (IL) once.  They also lost to (it is a long list) Edgewood, Ramapo, North Central College, Lakeland, Aurora, and WHEATON.

I think their bubble bursts tomorrow against UST.

They had 6'9, 235 center He Who Shall Not Be Named available for the entire season this year, Mark, that's what happened to Benedictine. He gave back his D2 scholie and transferred back to BU at the end of last season, but he only got to play in three games with them. He's the Central Region's Co-Player of the Year (sharing the award with Augie's Hunter Hill), and he's certain to be named an All-American as well. Also, the Bennies only lost one starter from last year's team.

I was afraid of that, but thought maybe someone had researched it and I just missed the report.

Yesterday, Darnell Harris was a big part of Middle Tennessee's huge upset win over Michigan State.

I found some conversation about Harris from the '12-13 season, after he lit IWU up for 32 points as a UW-Whitewater Warhawk...

Darnell Harris is an interesting story.  Left his H.S. in Milwaukee after his JR year to attend prep school in Texas, where he committed to D1 Florida International...but ended up at prep school in LaJolla, CA where he committed to D1 Cleveland State...but never made it there and is now a FR at D3 UW-Whitewater.  Quite a path!

Another of Jenkins' players, Hamilton standout Darnell Harris, will spend his senior year at Christian Life Center Academy in Humble, Texas. The 6-foot-8 Harris averaged 13.7 points and shot better than 40% from three-point range.

Jenkins said Harris is considering Florida International and Marquette, with Providence, Oklahoma State and Tulsa also interested.

Hamilton (Milwaukee, Wis.) might have fielded one of the nation's top 25 basketball teams during the upcoming season – that is until two of its premier players transferred to out-of-state prep schools.

Veteran coach Tom Diener told MaxPreps that 6-foot-8 senior Darnell Harris is at Christian Life Center (Humble, Texas), while 5-8 senior point guard Charles Lee is attending Huntington Prep (Huntington, W.Va.).

Both would have been three-year starters. Last year they helped Hamilton post a 20-4 record, win the Milwaukee City Conference and reach the Division I state quarterfinals.

Harris, a slender 185-pounder, averaged 13.5 points, 8.1 rebounds, 2.6 assists and shot 45 percent from 3-point range. Lee averaged 12.5 points, 5.2 assists and 4.0 rebounds.

"Darnell has tremendous perimeter game skills: shooting, passing, pivoting," Diener said. "He can really shoot the three. As he gains strength he will become one of the premier recruits in the country. I think you will see him in the NBA some day.

Rather than hold out hope of an offer from Marquette, Darnell Harris committed to Florida International on Wednesday.

http://clevelandstatehoops.blogspot.com/2011/09/darnell-harris-commits-to-cleveland.html

Darnell Harris, a 6-foot-8, 210-pound forward from La Jolla Prep (Calif.), has verbally committed to Cleveland State, according to his head coach, Bobby Bossman.

After UW-Whitewater, he ended up at Northwest Florida State...what a crazy path to the NCAA Division I tournament and being part of that win yesterday!

The Central region has accounted for 8 of the last 12 D3 men's basketball titles.  Benedictine plays for one tonight.

Nice catch on the Darnell Harris info.  Thanks for posting.  I remember watching him a few years ago and thinking this guy does anything he wants to do on the floor certainly he could play at a higher level.  I think perhaps there was some doubt about getting a chance due to his having attended several high schools and a couple of colleges.  Glad he has advanced on both fronts.

Among the many stops on his basketball journey, Harris was a one year Whitewater rental during the 2012-2013 season.
On 3/9/13, in a 2nd round playoff game between North Central and Whitewater that was played at (talk about irony) Benedictine, Harris badly missed a 3 point attempt with 6 seconds left that would have tied the game.

He's since taken down the post, but last week sac pulled a ypsi and requested the CCIW's non-conference W-L records so that there would be a basis of comparison for this season's 62-33 (.652) mark.

I don't mind answering his request, since this particular data table doesn't seem to be available anywhere anymore. The CCIW website used to have the non-con table on the men's basketball history page, but it was taken down a few years ago. Now I can Google it and find it again for updating next season. I'm only going back to Y2K at this point.

Strictly speaking, this is a CCIW vs. non-conference opponents table, not a non-conference table per se; CCIW tourney games and the one D3 tourney game between CCIW opponents in this century (Carthage vs. Illinois Wesleyan in 2010) have been excised.

The deepest advancing CCIW team has lost to the eventual national champion the last 4 years, and 6 of the last 7...

2016 - Augustana (St. Thomas)
2015 - Augustana* (Stevens Point)
2014 - Illinois Wesleyan* (Whitewater)
2013 - North Central* (Amherst)
2012 - Illinois Wesleyan* (Cabrini)
2011 - Augustana (St. Thomas)
2010 - Illinois Wesleyan (Stevens Point)
2009 - Wheaton (Wash U)

* Final Four

Gregory Sager

Big congrats to North Park junior guard Juwan Henry upon being named to the D3hoops.com All-American team! He joins Augustana seniors Hunter Hill and Ben Ryan on the team. Hill made the first team, Ryan made the second team, and Henry made the fifth team.

I'm not sure that I should rile up a certain neighbor of his out there in Naperville, but He Who Shall Not Be Named was named as the D3hoops.com Player of the Year. ;)

No my request is still there, appreciate the response.  Sorry this pretty simple request seemed to ruffle a few nerves for some reason.  :)

Hm, I couldn't find it for some reason.

I'll admit right up front that the feather-ruffling is all about shaming our resident retired college instructor into doing his own research. ;)
