Mr. B and I joke about printing out your comments about 2010 someday and presenting them to you in book form. ;)
Though I wouldn't want to waste a twig from a fig tree to present it in book form. :P

Just one game on tap for tonight, weather permitting:

Central (7-1) @ Augustana (7-3)

Central must have arrived in Rock Island earlier this morning...the Mississippi will dampen the weather in the Quad Cities...this game is most likely a go.

Augustana played perhaps its best half of the season in the second stanza and pulled away from Central, 88-73. Dylan Sortillo had a 24 and 10 double-double, Nolan Ebel had 10 assists to go with his 21 points, and Chrishawn Orange (11), Jacob Johnston (11) and Brett Benning (10) also hit double figures.

Totally agree.  Looks as if they are starting to figure out perimeter defense.  I believe Central was averaging 85 pts per game and Augie was able to hold them to 73.  This may have been the best effort on the defensive end all year for Augie.  I thought they played excellent in the second half.

OT:  Recently saw that Grinnell beat Greenville 151-128.  The former, according to its website, kept the latter below its scoring average that was above 140ppg!  In doing so, Grinnell made 54 free throws to set a D3 record (71 attempts).  I cannot envision such a scoring contest or that many FT attempts.  Then again, 2016 brought us Trump and a Cub WS championship.

Just under 80 if you factor our the scoring anomaly that is the game against Grinnell.

Central was only able to get 14 points from their leading scorer who was averaging 25 points per game before tonight.  He was averaging 32 minutes per game before tonight, but only played 18 minutes in the game.

He sat out the entire first half, and nobody knows why. The third-leading scorer for the Dutch never played at all.

Augie clearly didn't play a Central team that was at full strength, which I suppose takes a little bit of the luster off of the win. But that doesn't matter in terms of what really counts, which is the nice boost that this win gives to Augie's OWP and the potential down the road for this to be an Augie win over a RRO.

I was curious about Taylor's stat line too. He only played the 18 minutes and wasn't in foul trouble. If he misses the whole 1st have, I suppose the obvious speculation is for disciplinary reasons or team rule violation. Hope he's done his time, he's on my fantasy team!  ;D :) :P

Should be a great game tonight in St. Louis.  The Illinois Wesleyan/Wash U rivalry is one of the best non-conference rivalries in Division III - two perennially strong programs that have played a lot of meaningful games against each other for many years.  Fair to say that fans on both sides circle the calendar each year and really look forward to this game.

Looking at this year's matchup, it strikes me how similar this teams are.  Both teams are about the same size position by position...both teams are deep, including two super subs...production is similarly distributed across the rotation.

The biggest difference I can see between IWU and Wash U is that the Titans are a much more 3-point-oriented team.  42% of IWU's FGA are 3-pointers...for Wash U that number is 28%.  The Titans make 10.1 3's per game...the Bears 5.8.  IWU not only shoots more 3's, but shoots a better percentage - .382 vs Wash U's .331.

Coach Edwards referred a high level of mutual respect that exists in this rivalry, and I agree very much with that - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Okt1O00o_jo.  He said, "winning the game means something to both teams."  I couldn't agree more -- as an IWU fan, I can say that's a big deal to beat Wash U.

Looking forward to watching the Titans and Bears go at it again.  This is a very big game for both teams in terms of regional rankings, national tournament hopes, etc.
