Congrats to Ill. Wesleyen and good luck on the tournament trail.  I hope you can take it all the way.  For some odd reason there is a certain solance in knowing you were spanked by the best in what was simply on of the most amazing exhibitions of shooting proficency that I've seen.

TitanQ, it was nice to make your acquaintance and you're another Farm guy too, that was quite a coincidence.

Congrats to CCIW too, WIAC goes up in smoke...ugh

CCIW board,

I give you guys a lot of credit for not whining about the hosting going to LU.   I think it will work out fine and that people that want tickets are likely to get them given the distances that must be traveled.  Appleton is a nice town.

I wandered down to WW Friday night and saw Ill Wes. play.  They are very impressive.  If they are on their game, they will be very tough to beat by any D3 team.

LU has won something like 34 out of their last 35 at home so I think it should be a good test for IWU.  When I watched IWU play, I wonder how they lost 6 games.  I know the CCIW is pretty good, but I have seen enough of the teams to know that IWU should not have lost 6 games.   Should be interesting on Friday.

Q and others last year at Albion they cleared the gym between games.  Even though I had a ticket for both games I had to go back outside and get back in line.  Kind of crazy.  Fortunately my coat saved a seat for me.

The upside is any IWU or Augie who want to see their team on Friday will get the chance with split tickets as opposed to the less than 200 you would have had.

Last year Calvin was able to bring a pretty full house to Albion in their Semi final game when they would have only had about 200 people there without the split session.

It worked well with Albion and Calvin being close to each other, not sure how it will work with the 4 teams you have, I think you might get some empty seats for the first game which means there could be tickets available if you want them.

Hey LU_nut,

It sounds like they might clear the gym between games, does the Alex have any good hiding places?  ;D

I had a chance to speak with a few MWC/WIAC coaches this weekend. When I asked about Lawrence they all said almost the exact same things...

* Extremely well-coached
* Very fundamentally sound
* Great "basketball smarts"
* They have a great player and a very tough competitor in 6-4 All-American Chris Braier

I'm guessing LU is similar in a lot of ways to the Hanover teams IWU faced in the tournament in 2004 and 2005.  I compared Carroll to those Hanover teams as well.

IWU/Augie/PS fans:

We are looking forward to showing our city and hosting the sectional.

There are plenty of hotels, don't worry.

The Wooden Nickel bar downtown is the official LU hangout.

Live music at Toms Garage is also good for after the games.

See you here !!

all sorts of nooks and crannies......almost 80 year old building.

you may have a lot of company trying to find a hiding spot.

If they are going to clear the gym, I am surprised they did not put more time between the games.

The times are subject to change.LU can change the times as they see fit now that they were awarded the sectional.LU Also sets the prices for tickets even though they dont get "ANY" of the returns on the tickets.

I don't know if I'll actually be there, but from what I saw on the internet during the Larry-Grinnell game, it looks like a pretty neat old gym. I like places like that. I never got to see the old gym at Augie, it was before my time. From what I hear it had an overhead track running around the court that made shots from the corner somewhat difficult. That could be an embellishment, but it makes for a good story.

Last Night St.Thomas pulled a fast one and took LARRY'S Bench from them.They thought it would help them but it didnt.LU sits to the Left of the scorers table as the hallway to their locker room is right there.But i guess NCAA says you(home team)sits to the right of the scorers table unless the other team says its ok.UST wouldnt consent so LU switched benches and still won.I hope the others coming in dont pull this as well!!!!

Some limited ticketing info (below) from Augustana College website:

Times for the tournament games, along with ticket details, are not available at this time. Because of the small size of Alexander Gym (capacity 1,000) on the Lawrence campus, the NCAA is considering a split session ticketing arrangement. That would mean that after the Augustana/Puget Sound game, the arena would cleared and new tickets would let the fans in for the Lawrence/Illinois Wesleyan battle. The details have yet to be ironed out and won't be available until at least Monday, March 6 in the afternoon. The championship game would still be at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 11.

OK CCIW, Augie & IWU fans - let's get the tickets, deal with the split session and root for each other in the Friday games.

I would hope Augie could get a fan bus for this.....otherwise that is one hell of a drive
