What is this "green room" viewing I keep hearing about?  Please explain.

JUSTINTYEM

Its a room with a green floor that used to be the LU pool.but it was filled in many years ago,and is now used by the wrestling team for meets and by the baseball team for practice as well as for other things. That room has a closed circuit link to a camera upstairs that films all LU games. They may also have the local radio broadcast as well for us to listen too. There is also a refreshment stand for those wanting something during the game.Last game it was free to watch from the green room, but im not sure if they will charge this week.

Could everyone please act like Adults? I love this game as much as the next person, but this is just basketball, and people are people.  :-\

Good luck to the CCIW teams going into this week's sectional games. May the best team win.  :)

I think April already spoke well of this, but Justin, one of the things we pride ourselves on in CCIW Chat-land is that we are all supporters of each other and not "smack talkers."  Despite iwufan32's attempt to ruin that reputation, I hope you don't take his or her posts as being representative of the rest of this board.  There's a reason iwufan32's karma is well below the Mendoza line in here.   Sorry, had to throw a Steve Stone reference in there.  Bring back Stonie!
Hail, Hail, the gang's all here, all out for Wesleyan!

JUSTINTYEM

Stonie got the shaft by the tribune. They messed up one of the great broadcast teams the cubs have ever had.Im a cubs fan when my brewers arent playing them, just so you know!!!! A family friend of mine played for them back in the early 90'S.

Isn't a small gym part of the home court advantage?

... It could be... but you could just as easily make the case about a larger gym.  Which is louder, 1000 fans, or 3200 fans?  I think the size is less important... what's more important is what you DO in that size.

Two years ago, Stevens Point went to Gustavus Adolphus.  Their "gym" is half of their fieldhouse, with a curtain on one end.  GAC absolutely packed the place to the gills... there were 3200+ fans, from the floor seats, all the way up to the ceiling on both sides of the court, and lots standing on the balcony at the end opposite the curtain.  It was deafening the entire game (when we got into the locker room at halftime, our ears were ringing).  The West/South Sectional was at Puget Sound.  Even for the first round game (UWSP vs. UPS) there were only 1800 fans there... and their gym is a gigantic memorial gym... seats 4500.  Though it got relatively loud, it wasn't that intimidating.  Then, the second night, there were 250 fans, for the biggest game of our lives.  ... Even if the game had been played in Marian's little tiny gym, it wouldn't have had the same deafening roar that the GAC crowd had.

Part of the "drawback" to LU's court is that the fans are only on one side.  You don't get the arena feel like you would at the Shirk, or DeVos, or Quandt.  But these games will be huge, nonetheless.  You're talking about the Sweet 16 and the Elite 8.  At this point, I'm not convinced that a home court advantage means nearly as much as if the teams are ready, willing, and able to make the plays they need to in order to keep their title dreams alive.
