Greg,

That was not a runner. He was able to get both feet set and launch.  Great shot and remarkable win.

I definitely call it a runner. He came down on both feet and launched forward without breaking his momentum.

Ok I was thinking a runner is taking off of one foot and letting it go. Either way he received a great pass with his momentum towards the basket and was able to penetrate to a spot that he was able to get a look and hit it.

Gregory Sager

As long as you don't break your forward momentum and you're reaching ahead with the ball when you release it, it's a runner. At least, that's what I was taught.

The Tommies have to be just sick with regret that they let that one slip away. Augie most likely doesn't get a sniff at that win without the inbounds turnover and the two Will Dunn missed FTs in the final half-minute. Up until that final minute I thought that UST had clearly outplayed Augustana. The Tommies didn't put Augie away, though, and they ended up regretting it.

North Central outlasts Wooster, 77-72. It was nip-and-tuck most of the way, but NCC never trailed. Erwin Henry had a terrific shooting night and led the Cards with 20 and 7, while Jagger Anderson came close to a triple-double with 17-8-10. Alex Sorenson contributed 16 and 8, while Matt Cappelletti added 14.

The Cards won it on the boards, where they dominated, 36-25, including 14-9 on the offensive glass.

The Cards certainly dominated the boards, but an equal measure of their victory stems from their long range shooting, outscoring Wooster 30-12 from beyond the arc.

In their last four games, all victories, against Illinois Wesleyan, Carthage, Augustana, and Wooster, the Cardinals have hit 38 of 84 (45.2%) from downtown.

The Cards also played a little defense, holding a Wooster team that came in averaging 85.4 points a game, to 72. Included in the defensive effort was forcing Wooster star Dan Fanelly into a 9 turnover game.

Just call it a winner:)
A beautiful display of athleticism and skill combined.

I was unable to watch both the NCC game and the Augustana game. For those that may have watched both, from an eye test stand point, I'm curious as to which team looked better, Wooster or St Thomas?

GoPerry

Way to go Vikes and Cards!  Keep it going strong.

I take it back, 4samuy. You were right. The Wraparound just showed a smartphone replay from the opposite angle of the livestream cam, and Orange definitely pulled up and went straight up for a jumper rather than a runner.

I think that Wooster has a little bit of a talent edge on UST, but the Tommies played harder and smarter than the Scots did.

The Cardinals got the upper hand quickly over Wooster, and held the advantage almost throughout as Wooster never led and the game was briefly tied only twice in the entire contest.
As I said above, a large part of the Cards continuing advantage was due to forcing Wooster's best player into 9 turnovers.

As I said, I was more impressed by UST than by Wooster ... right up until that final half-minute up in Whitewater.

Speaking of which, UWW has been playing from behind all night against -- wait for it -- Northwestern. Could this be another Cinderella run for the UMACers from the Twin Cities?

Congrats to Augie on getting into the second round.  Keep going.

Sounds like a crazy last 40 seconds and an amazing game-winner by Mssr. Orange in that Augie win.  He's an exciting player to watch.
