I know it's the off season and there isn't as much to talk about, but wow......

So I hear IWU is now hoarding significant recruits . . .

Not according to AndOne. :D

I strongly (pun intended) believe that Ben Strong will be first-team all-decade when the list comes out (and would probably be Player of the Decade if they had that category), but no one outside of Guilford had any idea who he was until his junior year.  But AO says if you are not a star as a freshman, you're not significant. ::)

[My apologies: even for off-season banter, this topic is past it's sell-by date.]

Amelianovich was one of the most significant recruits in the last 20 years of the CCIW.   Anyone who doesn't get that needs to check their IWU envy meter.

Ypsi,

If it's past it's sell-by date, why, and what in the world, are you bringing it up? And, especially, why are you associating a non IWU guy who graduated from college way back in 2008 with the discussion?

Also, AO did NOT say if you are not a star as a freshman that you are not significant. He said you are not a significant recruit. And to be called "significant" a recruit doesn't need to be a "star" as a freshman, but he does need to play at least fairly regularly. A freshman who plays only 14 minutes all year is not a significant recruit. Lastly, I think if you've completed your freshman year, you're past your recruit status, and are more properly referred to as a veteran.

Mr. Ypsi

So Keelan Amelianovich and Ben Strong were both insignificant recruits.  Got it.  I suspect the coaches (and everyone else) would disagree.  A coach recruits for the future, which is NOT necessarily measured in a single year.

Could you give me a significant definition of significant please.

As evidenced by you citing, what, four players, one of which you even cited incorrectly? Enough, seriously.
