He was suspended and then restored to the roster. He left MU after the 2015-16 school year with two years of eligibility remaining, and a Google search reveals no further basketball activity from him since then, or at least no further basketball activity that can be traced on the Internet.

Does UMPI normally get basketball transfers from the Midwest?

The thought of T.J. Sims plying his trade in the barren winter wasteland of northernmost Maine made me chuckle at the incongruity of it.

But then I looked at the roster of the Owls.

You know what? He'd fit right in at UMPI.

And hey.. the Owls are not the infamous Owls of earlier years D3hoops.com chat rooms... they have been at or over .500 the last 3 years.. 2-3 this year, but two of those losses were by 10 and 8 to good basketball schools Montclair and Husson....Nobody is going to make them their winless pick for the year!!
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

And, love the Owls school motto. University of Maine at Presque Isle - North of Ordinary;D

First conference games of the season are this Saturday. To date, some teams appear to have surpassed early season projections while some are struggling to live up to expectations. It will be interesting to see how things shake out over the course of the entire season. 🏀

HAMBO

Hey AndOne, your comments about pre-conference games showing some surprises and some disappointments are spot on.  This weekend may clear things up a little bit.  You always do your research so do care to share your conference predictions now and compare them to the coaches' pre-season predictions??

Halftime in B'town: Carthage 39, IWU 34.

Tight game the whole way (if either team ever led by more than 5 I missed it).  Titans fall to the Red Men, 74-72.  The intensity felt like February, not opening night! :o

Titans go down to CC -- 74-72 -- Brady Rose missing a potentially game-winning trey with 1 second to go.  Tough loss.

Rose 24
O'Neil 16
Coleman 9

Live by the 3, die by the 3, only 28% tonight.  Both teams very evenly matched up and down the stat sheet.  Difference rare poor FT shooting by IWU, 9-16, 56 %  Can't say exemplar things about the IWU shot selection tonight.

Tough way to start the CCIW season.

Brad Kruse for CC, 20 points.

IWU'70

all blues

Millikin's first foray in conference action came up a 10 point loser at Wheaton.  As opposed to 32 points last year.  MU was down 18 at the half, but proved they had indeed heard about this game of basketball before by closing the gap all the way to 3 with 10:50 left, before grinding to the aforementioned result.  Stuff:  Millikin made more baskets, a little under 50%, Wheaton a little over. The Blue outrebounded the Cru.  Elijah Henry had a double-double; Austin Francis had 31 points (10-20, 4-12, 7-8, 8 A) Besides rebounds, the Blue bigs also scored well: 19-28, the guards? not so much-pg 4-15, sg 6-19.  one 3 for MU(out of 10), but Wheaton was only 6-22 IIRC.  Turnovers about even, but more Blues  Yeah, I'm hiding something-you guys are sharp  ;) Millikin out-hacked Wheaton 24-16, and Wheaton made a very commendable 22-26 FT; MU barely 50% at 9-16.  Elmhurst up next

This one was tight the entire way. It felt like maybe IWU had gained control after Nick Coleman made a huge 3 to put IWU up 70-67 w/ 1:58 to play, but Carthage stormed back with a 6-0 run to go up 3 at the 0:22 mark.  Brady Rose missed a 3 at the buzzer from the right wing that went in and and out.

Carthage presents a lot of problems when they are clicking on all cylinders.  6-11/280 soph Brad Perry is just a big man down low and someone you have to throw a lot of guys at.  And Brad Kruse has really become a great player.

There are a few things I wish IWU would have done better tonight - rebounding in particular - but I think the story tonight was how well Carthage played.  They slowed IWU down, executed a very smart gameplan, and made big plays when it mattered.  This is one where I think you tip your cap and move on.

The Titans are now in the midst of a brutal stretch of games and really needed the home W tonight.

Unbelievably entertaining game.

In regulation chrishawn Orange takes it full court with 3 seconds on the clock to tie game in regulation.

Stats to come.
