I see the LU program prtojects Jordan Delp as a starting guard for Augie. It doesn't look like the LU staff did much research beyond reading last weeks box scores, unless, of course, Drew Wessels is still on the mend. Is there any word on Drew's health. Since UPS is a pressing team, I really think Augie needs Drew back running the point on friday night.

The program also missed a pair of brothers that play for IWU...

"Augustana and Illinois Wesleyan have more in common than the same conference.   They both have sets of brothers on the squad.  Augustana features Dain and Nate Swetella, and Wesleyan has Cory and Chris Jones."

Brick

From what I hear Drew will be back in action this weekend...it would take wild horses to keep him away, and i do n't think that would even be enough...they kid is dying ot get out there again

Now if that isn't 'bulletin-board' material for Zach and Andrew, I don't know what is!  Should we predict 40 points between the two of them? ;D

Brick

No chance errors like that are made all the time

... although at the moment Augie is the only CCIW team we've shot.

Would it be asking too much that you could have shot them BEFORE we lost the two regular season games to them?! ;D

We did. We shot them at Stout. :)

Now, now, you know perfectly well I was talking about a Dick Cheney type shot! ;D

With due respect to your brother, Ryan Coleman is the best female bball player in the Mid-American Conference, not some guy with a camera! ;)  (What are the odds of THAT coincidence?)

Chris and Cory Jones were really only recruited significantly by two colleges - Illinois Wesleyan and Lawrence.  I think that says quite a bit about the ability of John Tharp and Scott Trost to find talent...even the kind flying way under the radar.  The Joneses played high school ball with Eddy Curry (straight to NBA), Melvin Buckley (Purdue...now South Florida), David Moss (Indiana State), and Pierre Thomas (Utah Valley St).  You had to look real hard to see these two hidden gems.

I found this article from March 15, 2002, as Thornwood was getting ready to take on Springfield Lanphier in a state quarterfinal game...

http://www.findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qn4155/is_20020315/ai_n12455922

I found it fitting that nowhere in the piece are Chris and Cory mentioned - just Buckley, Thomas, and Moss.  Four years later, it's Dauksas, Amelianovich, and Freeman that get the pub...and Chris and Cory just keep doing all of the important dirty work.

Brick

Dirty work is right those two throw their bodies around like you wouldn't believe under the hoop....could be why they seem to find themselves in foul trouble against augie....or maybe it's how they look like two pac that gets them in foul trouble....

Combined with 6'10" All-American Eddy Curry, Thornwood will have a physically big team with solid guards. 6'2" junior Cornelius Jones, 6'4" senior Steve Sawyers, 6'2" junior Pierre Thomas, 6'2" junior David Moss and 6'1" senior Shenard McDonald, lead the guard play.

Thank God he grew...IWU has no room for Cory at the 2!

I am almost positive that Ryan had the name first. PLUS, he was born in Ypsilanti, so you should reconsider. :)

Yes we do if we use the five guard lineup this weekend :D

Anyway I look at this Lawrence sectional, it comes down to just a really good matchup of four quality teams.

Boy do we need some basketball games to keep this conversation going in the right direction....

No matter which way you look at it, I came before the kid from Nick or the basketball player (who, believe it or not, I have known about for a few years).

I used to get IMs from people asking if I was the Ryan Coleman from TV. That was funny. I'm just a poor sports photographer..... he's already rich beyond imagination.
