Just watched the Wheaton vs. Elmhurst highlights on Wheaton's website, and Aston Francis never ceases to dazzle. He will take any shot from any place in any scenario, with the ability to make all of them. How many D3 players have a fade-away jumper of that caliber. He might be a volume shooter, but he is the best heat-check player I've seen in D3 in years. I know it's easy for CCIW followers to kind of take his scoring prowess for granted when you see it regularly, but he is my favorite player to watch nationally.

The Elmhurst Youtube full game broadcast has some pretty funny calls by Jays pbp Mark Krueger during that 6 min or so stretch of 3s by Francis.  Krueger and the young lady doing color do a very nice job.

Btw, the shot clock violation I previously mentioned near the end of the game was indeed closer than I thought.  I still think the buzzer would've gone off before the foul on Gunter was called if the shot clock had not been mistakenly reset.  It happened again two minutes into the 1st OT (definitely should've been reset but wasn't) but WC was able to get it corrected.  But no harm no foul.

mwunder, I tip my hat to Carthage.  They played very well, got a win at the Shirk, which is darn difficult any time.  That loss seems to have re-energized the TITANS.  Perhaps we'll get them back in Kenosha later.  Any win, esp. road wins in the CCIW, are hard to come by.  No nights off for sure.  IWU has two important road wins already, early on this season.  We'll need more I'm sure to compete with CC, Augie, and NCC for the league crown.  Up next, even tougher -- IWU vs. #11 Wash U this Sunday @ The Shirk.  U Chicago at Chicago, then the road trip for Emory and Birmingham Southern in Atlanta @ Emory.

Good luck to the Redpeople.

After a 5 hour bus ride to Michigan, six with a dinner stop, North Central is preparing to take on Alma whose record is only 1-4 but who, according to Massey, has played the toughest schedule in the country so far this year. They have lost to IL Wesleyan, Augustana, Elmhurst, and Washington, MO. They defeated Ohio Northern.

iwu70

AO, they are pretty good.  Beware.

Looking forward to the IWU - Wash U match-up, though I have to get up at 4:30 a.m. in HK to get down the CUHK hillside campus to my office to watch the game, starting at 5 a.m.

True Titan loyalty, even from the Far Side.  :)

Be well, safe on the wintry roads.

Ignore the box score for this one... what it is showing bears no resemblance to the PBP account from the same link.  Very weird.

Not too good, 70, as the Cardinals take it by 21.

4:30 AM? Geez, you may as well just pull an all-nighter if you have to get up before the sun.  ☀️  :)

The NCC guys are scratching their heads over the posted box score. Two of the guys listed aren't even on the team.
Matt Cappelletti led the Cardinals in scoring tonight with 18.
Leading rebounder was Alex Sorenson with 14. Sorenson has at least 14 Rebounds in 4 of his last 5 games, including the last three in row.

Yes, I wondered about the box from that Alma-NCC game.  It had Sorenson playing one minute!

Well, 4:30 a.m. -- you gotta want it.

Greg, how's the CCIW doing overall so far this year -- in the non-conference win/loss stat?

There's a thread that tracks that in the multi-region boards (thanks, hopefan!).  Hasn't been updated as recently as one might wish, but as of 12-10 the CCIW was 28-14.  IIRC, this is roughly average; neither good nor bad by historical standards.

With tonight's victory by North Central over Alma, NCC Head Coach Todd Raridon achieved his 499th win as a head coach. In this, his fourteenth season at NCC his record, after tonight's ninth game of the 2017-2018 season, stands at 230-129. Previous to coming to North Central in 2004-05, Todd served as head coach at Nebraska Wesleyan from 1989-90 through 2003-04 where his record over that fifteen year span was 269-125. With his next win he will become only the thirteen active NCAA D3 head coach with 500 or more wins. Also, I believe he is also only the second coach to lead two different teams to the Final Four, doing so with his 1996-97 NWU team which finished 2nd, and his 2012-2013 NCC team. Looking forward hopefully to #500 next Tuesday night vs. Albion at home.

It is a landmark day in CCIW Chatland when Ypsi gets Ypsi'ed...  ::)

AO, you forgot to mention WHY Todd Raridon only finished second in Salem in 1997! ;D

I never requested hopefan to open the thread, so not sure how I got Ypsi'ed?  Just pointing Mark to an ongoing thread that would deal with his question.  Sheesh!! ;D

He asked for information that he could've easily looked up for himself, and you provided it for him, unbidden. You didn't merely "point Mark to an ongoing thread that would deal with his question" ... you provided him with an actual answer:

Quote from: Mr. Ypsi on December 15, 2017, 10:45:17 PMas of 12-10 the CCIW was 28-14.

And that, my friend, is a Ypsi.

And I suppose that explaining to you what a Ypsi is after you had inquired as to how you'd been Ypsi'ed may mean that I, in turn, have just been Ypsi'ed as well. :-\
