Old School,

I already got my Augie tickets for the game.  I'll see if I get a chance to get anymore.  I unfortunately won't be anywhere near Augie to go get them.  If I do, I will let you know.

AUGIE2000 might be a current student, maybe he will bring you some tickets!!!

Johnny Augie

Does anyone from IWU have any extra tickets? There are 4-8 of us that want to go and if IWU still has some tickets, we would love it if you could grab us some.

Ryan Scott (Hoops Fan)

They had about 50 left earlier today.  If we judge just by the number of requests on this board, they may be all gone by now.

The NAIA D1 tournament field was released yesterday...

http://naia.collegesports.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/030806aab.html

16 "Pool A's" and 16 "Pool C's."  2 of those 16 at-large  bids went to teams IWU faced and defeated soundly - Olivet Nazarene and St. Xavier (Robert Morris won the CCAC tourney).  Lawrence defeated at-large team Vanguard 64-59 on a holiday trip.  Vanguard plays in the GSAC, which is probably the best league in NAIA I (Azusa Pacific, Concordia, Westmont, The Masters, Biola, etc).

The bracket gets released at 5:00pm...

http://naia.collegesports.com/

All 32 teams go to Kansas City, Mo. March 15-21.  That's gotta be a great format a fun tournament to attend.

Thanks to a generous IWU fan, I now have two tickets to Friday's game.  Thank you kind, anonymous Titan fan!!!  ;D  As a side note, this is why I really like this board.  As much bantering/bickering/chest thumping as we may do about our teams and conferences, I think that most folks here are willing to help out a fellow D-III fan and that's pretty cool. (obligitory sigh and  :'()

True, but you weren't some Larry U fan coming in here and flapping your mouth and talking $%#^!  ;D

If you were, I'm sure all IWU nation would be laughing at you knowing they could've gotten you tickets but didn't because you said something bad about their mothers, or team or coach or whatever, for that matter!  :D

This is why I save the venom for when it truly matters.  8)

***Or the Sooner Athletic Conference.

In the last 10 years, the Golden State AC has had 3 total finalists including 2003 Winner Concordia Ca.

The Sooner AC has had 6 total finalists including 3 winners, 2005 John Brown U, 2002 Okla Sci and Arts and 1996 Oklahoma City University.

The semi-finalists are also listed which shows a strong representation by the Golden State AC.

The fascinating thing about this list is the names of the former champions who are now NCAA.

Sam, with 550 tickets available for Lawrence, I assume once tickets were distributed to players, coaches, administrators, "friends of the program", etc, etc, there were probably only about 300 tickets really "for sale", don't ya think?

Unless I'm mistaken, we had the same # available as last week (rougly 750)...I was under the impression the LU/IWU game had a 2/3 to 1/3 ticket split rather than 50/50.  If thats the case, the tickets sold out 25 minutes faster than last week (thus my wow  :)).  If i'm wrong...well, I guess its only as impressive as last week then.  ;)

The Roop

I think you're both right. As I understand it, it was a 2/3-1/3 split but with 400 going to students there were only about 300-350 available to the general public. Despite a 5 hour drive round trip my designated NRO representative made it in time today so I'm covered.

Information about the NAIA tournament brings back the good old days for IWU b'ball fans. There is no comparison to the NAIA tournament experience for a fan and the impaired (on many fronts) D3 tournament.  If you wanted to see interesting b'ball games starting at 9 am and ending around midnight, the NAIA was and probably still is the tournament to go to. Haven't been there since IWU's last appearance in 1980 when they got blown out by Abilene Christian in the first round. Basically, the NCAA couldn't stand the competition and threw tournament travel money (just a pittance for the wealthy NCAA) at schools as an enticement to leave the NAIA. The poor NAIA has always operated on a shoestring budget. But the NAIA sure knew how to conduct a real tournament on a great nuetral floor with quality refs (for the most part).

I have 2 extra tix for the IWU/LU game. E-mail me if you want them.

Greek Tragedy

Ah...the memories of the NAIA tourney down in Kansas City at Kemper Arena!  The first time Stevens Point went to the NAIA tourney (or at least when I went), we stayed at a local church and showered at the nearby YWCA!  The following year we moved up in the world and actually stayed in a hotel all the way up to the Championship game in 83 (or maybe 84, too long ago!) and losing to Fort Hayes State!

Anyway, Veterancciwfan is right, it was quite an experience to go down there and see a tournament played in tournament format.  Sure we didn't stay for every game, but seeing the game before Point played and staying for the game after they played was pretty cool and to see it in a central location in such a big place like Kemper Arena.

While I'm on the NAIA rant, I was on Titan Q's webpage thing and you'll have to check your "All-time" records regarding Eau Claire.  There were WIAC/WSUC schools that had duel affiliation and I know Eau Claire was in the NAIA about as long as Point was.  EC and SP were battling it out in the 80's and I remember Coach Anderson having his players "hold" the ball in a loss to Point at Quandt simply because it effected the Dunkel Ratings!  Looking on the WIAC website, it has Eau Claire participating in the NAIA tourney as late as 1992-1993.  I think you have EC as having played in the NCAA for 89 years or so.  Anyway, that's neither here or there.

I know the NAIA had a weird regional tourney to get to Kansas City, but EC played Viterbo on 3/1, and lost.  Then Viterbo played at Point on 3/4, lost, and then played Point for a second time in La Crosse on 3/6 and lost again...Point advanced.
