To go away from criticizing officials, which we can all agree can be done by either side after every game, I wanted to note just how significant Kobe Eichelberger's string of strong games has been. His newfound confidence offensively has brought the Thunder a third offensive threat as he is now averaging close to 12 points per game. This is significant because his evolving game on the offensive end, coupled with his freakish athleticism will demand attention from other teams defensively, and could open up Francis or Samuelson more on the offensive end. He has also excelled on the glass these last several games, helping him to springboard into the lead on the team averaging just over 5 per game, surpassing our point guard, Luke Peters. It is without question important for a post player, such as Kobe, to clean up the boards because he is more often under the basket when shots are taken, while Peters is often out on the perimeter by nature of their positions. I look forward to watching Kobe develop further and see him potentially becoming even more of a dominant force with continued success and development.

No need to apologize for changing the subject, Mr. Eichelberger.  ;)

I don't think it's allowed, either. I didn't realize that it was coming out of the P.A. until Mark posted that. I thought that it was an annoying new feature coming out of the laptop that I was using for live stats.

EDIT: It appears to be covered under Rule 10-2.8, found on page 95 of the NCAA Men's Basketball 2017-18 Rules.

So... it isn't allowed as how I read it:

"Team followers (fans, bands, cheerleaders and mascots associated with either team) shall not commit an unsportsmanlike act, including, but not limited to, the following:
a.   Using musical instruments, amplified music or artificial noisemakers while the game is in progress, except timeouts and intermissions;

Am I reading that the same way as others?

Yeah, that's the way I read it too. I would assume if cheerleaders/bands and the like can't do anything like that, anyone working the game couldn't either.

Would this rule apply to the giant plastic foot that a north park fan had been seen using to slap the floor with during a Wheaton Home game many years ago(Luke Moo era?)?   Then again NP fans are allowed to do anything in King Arena because they're just fun loving kids trying to loosen up us uptight and repressed Wheaties. :-) ;D

Yeah you're right this is Kobe, posting about myself... now that we've both said dumb things, seems fitting to let you know I've been following Thunder basketball long before I knew who Kobe Eichelberger was.

Agree with all that.  Eichelberger is probably the most athletic guy on the team with a great vertical and can run the floor.   Probably more of a 3 but forced to play the 4 spot with Samuelson-Francis-Peters on the floor. If he can start hitting shots behind the 3 pt arc (after air-balling a few in prior games) that could open up his "conservative" drive to the basket game a little.  I'm not quite convinced he's on the verge of all that but the last game was encouraging.

That's definitely fair, and he actually probably is more fit at the 3 given his size, but his leaping ability helps him play the 4 and compete with the "trees." He drilled two 3's against Carroll and had a much quicker release than I'd seen from him before which is encouraging!

duckfan,

Class is now in session. Please pay attention.

1. Evidently you didn't notice the wink emoji ( ;)) at the end of my post meaning, of course, that I was not seriously suggesting you were Mr. Eichelberger.
2. My insertion of "Mr." was a reference to Kobe's dad. If I thought the poster was the player, I would have used his first name. MR. duckfan is your dad.
3. Because you're a rather new poster you may not be aware of the fact that we've had several instances of either players, their dads or other relatives, or one of their friends posting under misleading screen names, and saying something like Have you seen that John Smith kid lately. He has really picked up his game recently. He worked on his shot all summer and spent a ton of time on the weights.
4. So, IF you were Kobe or his dad, your post certainly wouldn't have been unprecedented.
5. Of course, few of these posts by players, family, or friends contain any truthful information and, if they do, they are nothing more than shameless forms of self promotion.
6. Be mindful of a poster's use of a smiley. It usually indicates some degree of kidding, sarcasm, or other facetiousness.

Lol okay thank you for that "lesson." I'll keep that in mind😉. Sorry for mentioning improvements that I've noticed in Kobe's game as a regular at Wheaton's home games. The statisitics I used are easily accessible on Wheaton's athletics website if you so desire to check them out. Contrary to what you think, I do understand sarcasm which is why I responded to you sarcastically 😉. Have a blessed evening.

Through 4 CCIW games (against 4 good teams), IWU is leading the league in:

* Scoring defense: 68.0
* FG % defense: .423
* 3-point FG % defense: .278

Hopefully that continues tonight - Elmhurst is averaging 83.0 per game and has some very talented offensive players.

A quote from that Pantagraph article...

The Elmhurst coach said Wesleyan junior Brady Rose (20.7 points) is "playing at an All-American level. I think Brady is the best player in the league right now. He's playing like it."

Bosko made the following comment after the IWU/CC game: "Brady Rose is one of the best players in the country.  He's a lights out shooter and his first step quickness is hard to stop."

I've been really impressed with Brady Rose this season.  He has turned into a really special player...and is a great leader on the floor.  I'm excited to watch him develop the rest of this season and next.
