My boss has no clue what it is that I do.  He just keeps saying keep up the good work.  He looks like an umpa lumpa.

i had been away since North Central's exit last week...but all this talk about bosses and teachers not knowing how long it takes to do projects is great. I agree. at a job i held during the summertime while i was in college, i would work MAYBE 2 hours total during the day.....my boss wasn't computer literate, so he figured things i had to do for him would take WEEKS when they actually only took a few hours. i kept a running talley of my solitaire scores and also started to formulate a theory about how the hearts game on computers cheats.

I thought I was one of the older guys on this board, but thankfully, with all the talk about the NAIA Tournies in the 70, I can rest assured that I was wrong.

For the record, I was talking about NAIA tourneys in the 80's;)

NAIA was still great beyond the 70's.  I would back that statement up only until about the late 80's and early 90's, when there was still only one division and and they all met in KC.  I enjoyed the first round for many years (they played 8 games in one day!).  The teams were outstanding and so were the players.

I'll agree with that.  When Whitewater placed 4th in 83 and won it all in 84, they were battling it out with Stevens Point in the WSUC (now the WIAC)...Point made the NAIA tourney three years in a row around that time and lost in the championship game in 83 (or 84, like I said, too long ago!)...

My boss has no concept of how long it takes to do things.  I generally have some good down-time during th day.

I wish I lived in this world.  ;)

Classic...Karma for you!

Ahhhhh the old NAIA, I got some great NAIA stories but they'll have to be saved for another day....more specifically a day that doesn't include an actual written record of what I said!  ;D

Carry a clipboard everywhere and look around a lot.

This works.....it really does. ;D  It also helps if you look like you need something, people usually stay away then.

You can also point at things if you see people coming that you don't want to talk to.

But to draw a comparison to its more high-profile brethren, Lawrence was king of a conference whose overall talent would be equated to the Horizon League. Two of the teams coming to town this weekend, Augustana and Illinois Wesleyan, are from a league you would liken to the Big Ten.

The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin is good. Really good.

------
Wesleyan and Augie's roster is the best of Illinois that didn't go to Division I schools; they're at those two schools," Lawrence coach John Tharp said. "They're big and they're physical. Illinois Wesleyan, my Lord, you look at them and they're all over 200 pounds and strong. They're pretty impressive."
-----

"(UW-Whitewater coach) Pat Miller told me they were more athletic than Whitewater, which tells you something," Tharp said of Illinois Wesleyan. "Pat Miller said by far they're the best team they've see this year."

And Illinois Wesleyan lost twice in three tries against Augustana.

A lot of names come to mind of Illinois natives that aren't on IWU's or Augie's rosters...

Chris Martin, Elmhurst
Anthony Simmons, North Central
Jabari Saunders, St. Xavier
etc

Then there are the D2 stars at Lewis, Quincy, SIU-E.....

A little hyperbole from coach Tharp there!
