I suspect that Francis is still a heavy favorite for MOP

I think pretty good chance it is a co-MOP.

I don't think the contest should be that tight. Francis is a great scorer, but often times it seems the more he shoots the less chance his team has of winning because other capable players with better open looks never get the pass that enables them to take that open shot. He had made 79 three pointers in conference, but there are 14 players who shoot a better 3 point percentage than Francis including a guy on his own team that, at least before last night's game, was leading the nation in 3 point percentage. Plus, his head coach has publicly called him out on radio interview shows for playing matador defense and basically waiving as his man goes by him on the way to the basket.
Nope, Alex Sorenson should be the MOP.

Shocker... If not Francis, Brady Rose is the MOP.

Hard to imagine that any player in the country gets the kind of attention Francis does from opposing teams. Averaging over 30 PPG in conference. All three (Francis, Rose, Sorenson) are stars, but Francis sort of stands out from the pack in my eyes.

Wheaton student section "taunting profiles" for last night's game vs NCC...

https://twitter.com/AlexSCOREnson/status/965077257558675456

Wow.  Not exactly something to make the Wheaton community proud.  Organized taunting using family members names and other personal information?  How about cheering on your team in a positive manner?  Oh, I almost forgot.........

* Ryken's Rowdies - Does the President of Christ centered Wheaton College really condone the actions of this group of buffoons? A better name for the group would be the Goon Squad. And the President lends his name to this crap?

* Bottom left corner of the "Scouting Report." It's North Central so ANYTHING goes. Really? ANYTHING GOES?  ???

* Making fun, or trying to, of guys names, talking about ex-girlfriends, mentioning players parents and sisters names? I'm sure this has something to do with a basketball game, I just can't figure out what that is.

* Screaming (the obvious) "daddy's boy" at Connor, yelling "I see your bald spot" at the coach, and signs like "Aiden Chang combs his eyebrows." You need to come at us with more than that very weak s—t boys. By the way, the guy who combs his eyebrows just hung 20 on your asses.  ;)

* As far as your frequent chants of "North Central sucks," check the box score boys. I think you'll see the (not very loud) Thunder
got a 17 point beatdown. Who sucks now? Seems like the only ones doing the sucking today are dressed in orange.  ;D

It will either be Francis or Francis/Rose.

Sorensen will rightly be a first team all-conference selection.  He won't be MOP, and he shouldn't be.

Francis should stand out. He's a fantastic talent. I've never seen anyone at the D3 level who can so seemingly effortlessly make shots from as far away as he does. He is a standout performer. However, as spectacular as he often is, he's also pretty one-dimensional. Rose and Sorenson are both more complete players. Rose is the preeminent back court player in the conference, and Sorenson is it's dominant big.

As a follow up to my comments last night....

Like I said, Bosko will be a HOF coach once he retires, but that really has more to do with much dated accomplishments.

In the last 15 years (including this year), his CCIW record is 110-103 (that's through 15 games this year).   So, he has a 52% winning percentage in conference over that period of time.  Also, Carthage has won two conference championships (one was shared) in those 15 years and made one NCAA appearance.

Finally, since the conference tournament started in 2006, so 12 years, Carthage has only made it 3 times.  Conversely, Augie has made it all 12 years, NC and IWU have made it 9 times, Wheaton 8 and Elmhurst 6.  Considering you only have to be in the top four of eight teams (prior to this year), I think this is the stat that stands out most to me.

They had put together a nice recruiting class last year and along with some seniors who stepped up their game, they got their second conference title.  Coming into this year you had a first team all conference player (Kruse) and a second teamer and freshman of the year (Perry) returning.   Then you get a Jordan Thomas to really elevate his game and Baltimore, despite missing four conference games, giving you another excellent offensive threat.   With those four players alone you can't tell me you shouldn't at least make the conference tournament.

And if this was the NCC football teams cheat sheet no one would be saying a word. This is a non issue in my view. I have heard stuff from other teams fans, NCC included, that make this sheet look like a hymnal. I don't get the issue.

I have taken a deeper look at Pool C.  I have Wheaton on the bubble but in better shape than I thought this morning...

http://www.d3boards.com/index.php?topic=4232.msg1858071#msg1858071

Wheaton's wins over Whitworth and Baldwin Wallace are very big -- because they will both be right there on the board with Wheaton at about the same time.  I think the Thunder can go up to Carroll feeling like a win keeps they very much in the Pool C picture.

IWU's numbers currently are: .792 (19-5)/.543/2-4.  If you move IWU from Pool A to Pool C, the Titans would be #14 on my list - just behind Emory, and just ahead of St. Olaf.

It will either be Francis or Francis/Rose.

Without question.

The MOP will either be Francis solo because of his crazy offensive abilities and the damage he has done to teams throughout the CCIW season...or Francis + Rose.  Brady Rose has been a complete, consistent, star player on a team that has already clinched a share of the title.

I think it'd be pretty tough to leave Brady Rose out of the MOP award.  I am seeing the Francis/Rose co-MOP route.

USee,

If the Wheaton "Scouting Report" is a hymnal, they are using some pretty strange hymnals over there at Wheaton College.
And, as far as a NCC football team cheat sheet, is there any evidence of the existence of one? Can we see a copy please?

Agree USee, seen and heard much worse over the years.  And who are you talking smack to, AO?  Doubt that any of the students involved are posting on this board and I don't think that Usee, duckfan, etc had anything to do with putting together that sheet.  ???

I love everything about the Wheaton cheat sheet.

90-95% of the cheat sheet was based on what the individual player posted on publicly social media or by the team on the team roster.  5-10% was silly speculation

The fans were obviously in the head of Aiden Chang, but he had a great night and used the taunting to his advantage.  It did not work tonight, but it may worked on another night.

Long live the fan groups.

That's the thing -- almost all of the information used was easily found on social media.

I will say this - I think the Wheaton students cross the line when they start bringing up girlfriends and that sort of thing.  I remember last year at Wheaton they kept saying things about Trevor Seibring's girlfriend.  Well, she was sitting right there.  As were her parents...and brother.  I don't think it's fair for a fan to come to a game and be put in a really uncomfortable/borderline hostile position.  I would hope the Wheaton students (and students at all CCIW schools for that matter) re-think what is right/decent on that front.

If you want to chant "Daddy's Boy" at Brady Rose and Connor Raridon for 40 minutes, more power to you.
