Greg and I have this friendly feud going on over what counts as a tournament game.  He says the regional third place games count because the NCAA says they do, while I contend that its not a tournament game if the winner can't advance.  Before you all weigh in, let me remind you of two things:

1) When is the NCAA ever an accurat measure of reality?

When it's their tournament.

2) Pat agrees with me.

He may say that he agrees with you, but nevertheless he duly lists the regional third-place games in the D3hoops.com archives along with all the rest of the tournament games.

As I said, the NCAA makes no bones about the fact that those games counted. Look in the D3 recordbook available on the NCAA website, and you'll see that the single-game scoring record in the D3 tournament was set by Gerald Reece of William Penn. He scored 49 points in a regional third-place game against North Park (whose Michael Thomas scored 38 in that game, incidentally).

Frankly, I wouldn't mind if the regional third-place games didn't count, because it would make NPU's tournament record even better (the Vikings were 1-2 in regional third-place games, beating Whittier in '82 and losing to William Penn in '81 and UW-Whitewater in '86). But those games are in the recordbook, and they thus cannot be arbitrarily ignored.

Augie goes down by 6.  Looks like the PS pressure got to them to some degree.  92-86.  Too bad.  A great season by Augustana.

Tough end to the season...congrats to Jay and Rick on GREAT careers at Augustana.  Congrats to Augie on the great season.  It was a lot of fun for the fans to see such a great team play this season.

Touche, but as we always said as kids: it doesn't matter, I'm better, infinity always one more than you!

We'll let Ypsi or someone else with an aptitude for theoretical numbers work out the repurcussions of that statement.

Congrats to Augie on a great season, and to Rick and Jay for a great four years here at school...I know the returning guys will not forget how it felt to get so close and will come back even hungier next season...Thanks for all of the memories fellas

Mr. Ypsi

Mr. Ypsi's comment is simply that I thought I wouldn't have to deal with 3rd grade taunts now that my youngest is in 8th grade! ;D

Though the infinity taunt was a new one - I have a few friends in the math department who talk about different 'orders' of infinite; I slowly slink away with a headache!

Since I am apparently not competent enough to find the link for the audio stream on the website Q posted for us, can someone fill me in on where I'm missing it?

Wheaton women lose to DePauw in their first ever sweet 16 game, 69-60.  Great season for the women's basketball program at Wheaton.

Ok, nevermind, I finally found it.  Silly me, I was looking for something that said "listen" in it on the main menu.  I didn't realize it took several minutes to scroll through the words where it finally says "listen live."

Glad to be of service, April.

Yeah, I'm kind of a nerd and my younger brother was stubborn, so instead of the long, drawn-out "is not-is too" debates, I simply said "is too" infinity always one more than you and explained that my response was continually working to be better than his and because I said it first, it has precedence over his "is not infinity" which was sure to follow.
