ISU 82 Augie 74 Final. A good showing by Augie. Ebel and Orange combined for most of Augie's points. No one else in double figures. Now on to the regular season. Both IWU and Augie were solid against their big school opponents.

Speaking of IWU why is Zach Knobloch no,longer on the team? I have not been on the board recently, so it probably was already discussed.

It was a great showing against a very good Illinois State team - picked to finish 1st or 2nd in the Valley.

Knobloch is still in school at IWU...just decided over the summer he didn't want to play basketball anymore.

Strong showing by Augie vs. ISU.

Ready for the regular season, the real games!

Brett Benning was in starting lineup guess the Mono wasn't that bad or the Argus got it wrong. Only down four in the last minute. OSU Very fast. Angie needs to defend the baseline better. Very physical game! A few ticky tack fouls but call on both teams. Ebel looks great. Orange had a tough first half
But played better in the second half. Glad I went.

The Vikings were as close as 78-74 with 26 seconds left, but Illinois State added four late free throws for the final margin.  A good outing for Augustana.  It was also good to see IWU give a very competitive effort against the Illini.

And now, the moment we've all been waiting for...No more opera talk. No more mono talk (hopefully!), it is time for games to begin!

Wheaton hosts Ripon College at 7 on Saturday evening. I looked up Ripon's roster and noticed that they only have 5 returners from last years team that did pretty well (18-7 and defeated then #4 UW Oshkosh in the Wis Dells Tourney), and 11 (!!!) freshman.

I'm figuring the starters will be:
PG: Luke Peters
G: Aston Francis
G: Kobe Eichelberger
F: Trevor Gunter
F: Jay Spencer

Cade Alioth could also fit in there, but he could also be the first guy off the bench. Admittedly, I'm not part of the "inner circle," so take my predictions with a grain of salt.

Best of luck to all CCIW squads and happy Basketball Season!

ducky41, I'm with you.  Time for some games and to see what the various programs really have, what they are made of in competition.  Good luck to all the CCIW programs, players and coaches this season.  I hope everyone has a good season with few injuries and no unsportsmanlike drama.  Surely looking forward to the 2018-19 TITAN edition and the opening day game vs. U of Chicago on November 11th @The Shirk.

Let the games begin!

Best to all CCIW chatsters and commentators.

North Central will hit the Eisenhower Expressway tomorrow afternoon to join the multitudes for the rush hour(s) crawl into Chicago. Their ultimate destination will be the campus of the Univ. of Chicago on which they hope to arrive prior to their scheduled 7:30 scrimmage against the Maroons.

Rumor has it that Graduate Assistant Coach Zach Jadzak will be driving one of the NCC vans. Given his heavy foot and history of becoming involved with various Chicago PD Blue Light Specials, its unlikely any of the NCC starters will be riding with "The Attack" as any trip interruption would likely prevent arrival by the scheduled tip time. 😉

At that time of day on the Ike, rush-hour traffic is far, far worse leaving the city, as opposed to entering it. The Cardinals are traveling opposite the suburban commuter flow.

We're 10 days out and from the looks of the Carthage web site, the men's basketball program will not be fielding a team.

I miss Steve.

According to the 2018-2919 schedule posted on the CC web site, they play at Lake Forest on Friday, 11/9 - 3 days from now. 😏

I wasn't sure if that was a "real" game or a scrimmage since there are no links for GameCast / Stats / Video feed.

I'm quite sure its a "real" game as the Carthage schedule shows the NCAA regular season limit of 25 games, including that one.

You're correct, but having made that drive many times, it isn't exactly an open road going in the other direction.
