Dunkin...I hear ya.  But, if "a foul is a foul" then coaches would never go ballistic on the side lines.  They would just accept the call.  They either didn't think it was a foul, or they didn't think it should have been called.  And they're getting in the ref's head for the next time there is a call or no call situation.  I do think there are times when the ref should just let the game play.  It's an opinion, we can drop it.

I see they are called the Duhawks but it seems to me there would be a great marketing opportunity to call them the Lorax.  ::)

Great finish, I am sure based on past CCIW that Augustana weren't going undefeated.  Did that volatile Augie coach do anything interesting?   ???
World travel isn't all its cracked up to be. Neither is Duluth/Superior.

Jacket came off close to the end of the first half with a B+ toss to the team manager who was waiting to catch it.

What struck me most was Grey walked off of the court following the made FT without shaking anyone’s hand. He allowed his senior captain and PG Nolan Ebel to do the same. Pretty classless move if you ask me. I understand that Loras celebrated afterwards, but no more than any team would after the typical buzzer beater. Had it been reversed, I would wager we’d be hearing on here about how classless it would have been for Martin to walk off and to allow Ruggles and DiCanio to also leave without shaking hands. Just my two cents.

For some reason, it does not bother me when a team leaves the gym if the other team is celebrating.

I may be alone, but I do think coaches should be quiet while the other team is shooting free throws.

1. The question being did the celebrating begin immediately or did some of the losing team and staff congratulate the winners first? And, if some did, why didn't they all??

2. Good luck with that.  ::)

Duckfan, you're right about the time, my bad.
But I lean towards having a no call on that play.  Not much contact from that camera angle.  The ref's mind set at that time of the game should have been...no blood, no foul....you and I know that every foul in a game isn't always  called...just a fans opinion.  Again, grats on the pressure foul shots though.

Totally disagree. I know that I've said this a hundred times on d3boards.com, but a good official calls the last five seconds of a game, whether close or not, the exact same way that he called the first 39:55 of the game. Rules only work properly when they're applied fairly and evenly -- and they're there to protect the players.

Seriously? Coaches will go ballistic on the sidelines no matter what kind of a foul is called. ... and certain coaches more than others. ;)

"Let the game play" is another way of saying that players have open season to commit cheap shots. As dunkin said, a foul is a foul.

You're not alone. We've ragged on Giovanine many a time on CCIW Chat over the years for barking out instructions to his players while an opponent is in the middle of a free-throw attempt. It's not illegal, and sometimes it's unavoidable or an oversight, but when done repeatedly and thus deliberately it's seriously unsportsmanlike.

Nobody's mentioned it yet, but Millikin crashed to the ground in a big way on Wednesday night, losing at Aurora by a score of 90-65. The Spartans opened the game with a 24-3 run over the first nine minutes, and that pretty much put the kibosh on the Big Blue. Scherer's boys were led by Davante Harrell, who had 22, and Elijah Henry, who had 13 and 8.

Wesleyan blew the doors off of Westmo tonight, 95-64, to absolutely no one's surprise.

Nearly a full slate tomorrow, with seven of the nine teams in action.

Was anyone successful in getting the livestream from Webster tonight? We could watch on the computer, but not cast, and the screen went blank whenever IWU had the ball. It wasn't a game for very long, but that was very strange.

I suspect iwu70 was attempting an experiment and inadvertently got the wiring installed exactly backwards...  ::)

Greek Tragedy

My friend was at his kid's grade school basketball game. The opposing coach purposely yelled instructions while his son's team was shooting free throws. After about the 3rd time, my friend yelled at the coach to basically"shut his trap" loudly, in front of everyone. I think he felt embarrassed and knew he got busted. He stopped doing it.

Very important game today for Wheaton in Texas against LeTourneau. This carries the weight of a holiday trap game, but here's to hoping that won't play a role for the Thunder today.
