North Central led for all but 1:39 this afternoon in downing Alma by an 87-67 score in The Hangar in Naperville. The Scots had previously lost to Augie by 11, and IWU by only 5.

... which doesn't necessarily mean anything, it needs to be said.

And which came first, the nit or the pick? It needs to be asked. 😠
I wasn't aware that everything mentioned necessarily needs to mean something. What rule number is that anyway?
Its called a fact, Greg. Period. Plain and simple. I simply stated a fact. Its not something that is open to debate. Or are you going to argue with or criticize that too?  ::)

In a bit of a surprise, Elmhurst edged Buena Vista, 92-87, out in The Middle of Nowhere, Iowa. Jake Rhode led five 'jays in double figures as he notched 19 points, joined by Jeremy Ireland with 18 and 10, Ryan Patton with 16, Jay Militello with 13 off the bench, and Derek Dotlich with a dozen, as Pavlos Marakis pulled down 13 boards.

I couldn't watch this game, but it's nice to see Ireland (who had many double-doubles last season) with the 18-10, after being held to single digits in the first 2 games of the season. Marakis and Ireland both in the starting rotation should really help Elmhurst win the rebound battle most games, but turnovers (19) were a problem again. Newcomer Jay Militello is having a nice start to his EC career, average almost 9 points/game off the bench thus far.

'Tis the season of ... upsets? There have been plenty. 13 of the D3hoops.com Men's Preseason Top 25 have lost and even the women have seen some shockers (Eastern Connecticut over Amherst!). So, I guess there are many teams thankful this time of year?

Sunday on Hoopsville, Dave recaps a wacky few weeks of basketball and previews what could be very topsy-turvy first in-season Top 25s. Dave also welcomes one of the teams which pulled off one of the larger upsets in the last week, Loras, who defeated No. 3 Augustana.

Division III also hears from the new men's basketball committee chair for the first time this season. Gallaudet Associate Athletic Director for Communications Sam Atkinson joins Dave in studio live to talk about the new-look national committee, how the work has evolved not only over the years but also the last few months, and take questions from viewers.

Hoopsville is presented by D3hoops.com and airs from the WBCA/NABC Studio. Sunday's show hits the air at 7:00 p.m. ET. You can watch the show here: http://bit.ly/2RdmAom

If you have questions about Division III basketball, feel free to send them and we will answer them on a the show. Email them to hoopsville@d3hoops.com or use any of the social media options to the right.

I assume weather related...

@MillikinHoops
ATTENTION: Today's varsity game against Simpson College has been canceled. However the JV game vs. Kaskaskia College is still on at 3pm following the women's game vs. Illinois College at 1pm.  If you have time please come and support our young men and women competing today!

The Simpson athletics main page and the men's basketball schedule page show a cancellation, but Millikin's site and the CCIW composite schedule page both show that the game has merely been postponed, with no makeup date listed.

Got up on the wrong side of the bed this morning, did we?

You stated a fact. I stated that the interpretation of said fact is open to question, which is also a fact. Two facts, one right after the other. They go together nicely, don't you think? ;)

One game left this afternoon, Illinois Tech versus Carroll at Van Male. The $64,000 question of the day is: Will there be sound or not?

They did have sound for both games today and I think they may have used a different camera today.

Like I said, I wasn't able to watch and haven't had much time to look at the box, but this is a solid win for the Thunder in their first road challenge of the season. At 5-0, with wins over #2 Oshkosh, a tournament team from last year LeTourneau, and over typical power Calvin, I would expect the Thunder to vault themselves up towards the top of the ORV category. Not sure how other top 25 teams have done, and would imagine it's pretty difficult for a team to go from no votes in one poll straight to the top 25 in the next one. So, naturally, I'll stay modest (and logical) and hope for a significant increase (from zero) in votes for the Thunder.

I'm almost positive Wheaton will enter the Top 25 this week.  5-0 including the win over UW-Oshkosh should be plenty...add in LeTourneau for good measure.

I'll be shocked if the Thunder aren't in there.

Well shoot... put em in the top 25 then! 😂

Don't really care that much about their ranking tomorrow.  I'm just glad for the 5-0 coming into an even tougher 5 game stretch: vs Chicago, @NPU, @IWU, vs Olivet, @Platteville.

Different broadcaster, too.

Mr. Ypsi

New poll is up.  Augie slid from 3rd to 5th, IWU jumped from 19 to 10, and Wheaton entered at 18.  NCC just missed with 47 points.

On the coat tails of Francis picking up his second straight Conference Player of the Week honor, the Thunder break into the Top 25 at #18. Big accomplishment heading into a grueling 5 game slate in the coming weeks as noted by Perry earlier.

I'm very excited to see how this group continues to progress this season. IWU into the top 10, Augie drops a few spots after their loss to now #19 Loras (who enters the top 25 for the first time in program history). Keep the games coming!

Wednesday - #4 UW-Stevens Point at #5 Augustana.

That's pretty good.

That game is going to be pretty good regardless of the rankings. Point definitely isn't the 4th best team in the nation. In my opinion, that's more of a product of everyone losing in front of them. I actually thought their #12 ranking to start was a little high.
