You have to tip your hat to Lawrence and UPS -- really really good teams.  Titans played extremely well, but those teams are really excellent teams as well with superb players, coaching and seasons.

Titans come alive when needed!  Nice job Illinois Wesleyan and congrats to all you players and fans for making the Final 4 yet again.

Also great season for Augie in winning the conference and making it into the final 16.

And finally, I think North Central ought to be proud of their season.  Just getting in this year was, I think, a great accomplishment.

Q, how is this UPS team different than the one you saw in December?
Point, UPS is basically the same exact team I saw in December.  They shot the ball better vs Augie last night than they did vs IWU, but it's the same exact team.

Bob, sorry, I misread this post:

Puget Sound looked very good last night, but I'm not sure if that was due to how poorly Augustana executed, or because UPS is somehow a different team than the one I saw in late December.

Looks like another great win by IWU.  The tough games do nothing but continue, as they match up against Wittenberg next weekend in Salem.  Roanoke/Salem put on a great weekend... regardless of the outcome Titans, enjoy the weekend!

I believe with his three treys against UPS in the Sectional Final, Keelen has tied Kory Coon for career 3s made (and further extended his single-season record).  A truly amazing shooting career with two more games to go.  The Salem weekend should be special and very deserved for all the seniors and other players on the 05-06 Titans.  Go TITANS -- let's bring home another banner for the Shirk.

Q, great job on the call.  Get some rest and get well.  You are going to need a stronger voice next weekend.

I was impressed with UPS even though I didn't think I would be. I've never put much faith in teams from the far west but the Loggers are certainly deserving of being where they were. Not sure where all the "System" comparisons come from though. They are up tempo and shoot a lot of 3s but that's where the similarities end. I never once found myself thinking "wow, they're just like Grinnell" because they're not. Unfortunately for them they simply didn't have an answer for IWUs presense in the middle and that, more than anything, is why the Titans are moving on.

I now understand what people mean when they say IWU can be out of control all over the court. They do have a tendancy to force the break whether it's there or not. Might want to tone that down a notch because you're not going to get away with it at this level.

Can anyone explain the NCAA seating rule concerning designated sections for fans ??? Several IWU folks had to move because they were in the UPS section tonight.

Its actually up to the site administrator..........funny story 4 elderly Witt fans wanted to sit in their usual seats last night..........so they did.  Right in the middle of the Hope student section.  8) But I'll give them credit, they stood the whole game, the administrator did not see fit to remove them.

* Adam Dauksas: 26 pts, 6 reb, 13 assists/3 T.O.
* Keelan Amelianovich: 26 pts, 3 reb, 3 assists
* Zach Freeman: 19 pts, 10 reb
* Matt Arnold: 19 pts (4-5 3-pt)
* Chris Jones: 12 pts, 7 reb

* Zach McVey: 27 pts, 4 reb
* Chase Curtiss: 26 pts, 7 reb
* Antwan Williams: 14 pts, 2 reb, 4 assists

Puget Sound was very good, but Adam Dauksas and the Titans made just enough plays down the stretch to win the game.  IWU's Big 3 all had huge games and Matt Arnold came up big again.

I'm very proud of this group of Titans for never giving up on themselves.  It's on to Salem.

Consistent adminsitration of the Handbook Seating provisions.

I am certain that the IWU fans would be well behaved, but those North Park rowdies, and Wheaties like dhf without her cookies...
they are something else! ;)

There were a couple of them that didn't have any interest in moving. Then they got the move or leave option.

"This year is my last go-around, and I do not want to go out feeling empty as I have the past three years. Forget winning the CCIW-----WE WANT SALEM!!!" - Jason Fisher 12/4/05

With a #1 ranked team, expectations are as high as possible for the 2005-06 Titans, and Trost clearly has goals beyond the conference.  "We want to get to Salem and I think it is OK to say that," he said.  "I remember Bruce Weber talking about his kids last year and that they talked about St. Louis (site of the D1 Final Four).  I don't want Salem to be our primary focus and goal, but we need to go farther than we did last year. - IWUhoops.com preview, 11/3/05

I think down deep getting to Salem was the goal of the IWU players and coaches.  I know they wanted the CCIW title very badly, but I think this was the biggie.  The goal now obviously becomes winning the national championship.

As far as seating...

Salem Civic Center will divide the arena by 4 and say...these are the sections for each school.  When ordering tix, say you want to sit in the _____ section.

The Roop

It was a good crowd tonight, way more there than I expected. It wasn't sold out obviously but the IWU people that had to move weren't exactly denying any UPS people a seat by being where they were.
