No. Only schools participating in the game have the ability to post releases about games.

Thanks Pat, and sorry Lawrence.  My bad, and our bad for not posting the release!

I agree that the young man who sang before the LU/IWU game did an excellent job.  He didn't need amplification to fill the house (and that's a compliment to him, not a dig at Alexander Gym).  I wish more people just sang it straight, the way he did.

Saturday's seating situation was a joke.  "The Roop," you were probably sitting right by me!  I was in the top row in the UPS section.

There was more than enough room for some of the overlow IWU fans to sit on the far end of the bleachers, far enough away from the UPS fans.  That was just plain dumb.
... While standing outside waiting to get back in for the second game, an LU fan
Old School, I had an interesting conversation with two MWC coaches and a member of LU staff during the halftime of the IWU/UPS game.

UPS had requested that its fans have access to the entire allotted section and that IWU fans not be allowed to sit in that section.  LU had agreed to the request.  I asked "Under the NCAA Handbook guidlelines, UPS should have then paid for its entire allotment of seats to block out the section whether the tickets were sold or not - did they?"  The answer from the LU staff person was "No."  Before I could ask a follow-up question, the MWC coaches asked, "This is not the right thing to do. How can LU not give access to those seats to any fan that had a purchased ticket at the door since UPS did not buy out the section? ."  Whether I agree with that decision or not, it was made at the right level as I understand the guidelines

Regardless, I think overall LU Athletic Department did a pretty good job.  Really nice folks. Rallying a team of students from the Athletic Department to do the heavy lifting was a good move by the Athletic Director.  And, if anything, I think that the LU staff worked really hard with what it had to work with in a short time to deliver a good tournament experience.  Heck, the AD even made personal visits to the hotel housing the visiting teams to make sure everything was going right there too.  I have no complaints with LU.

Yeah, that's a bit odd.  It stinks of sour grapes if you ask me.

I blame that on Whitney Houston and her awful (in the opinion of my musicians ears) version of the anthem.

DIII Fans Unite!
Adam Dauksas is a finalist for the Bob Cousy Award, which is given to the nation's top college point guard.  Among the other finalists are Dee Brown and Gerry McNamara.  Dauksas is one of two DIII guards nominated.  There is a committee that decides the winner, but the winner of the fan voting online gets one vote.  The website is www.cousyaward.com.  Vote for Dauksas often and tell your friends.  He's not going to catch Brown, but lets at least get him a few percentage points.

Yeah Pat, you need to get this on the front page so we can win like we did with Hope-Calvin last year.

My experience with the NCAA 25th anniversary has pointed out to me the fruitlessness of such endeavors. There's no guarantee the fan vote will be taken into account.

A few IWU trivia items:

1) In nuetral floor games this year, IWU is 4-1 with wins against  U. of Texas @ Dallas, 2 wins vs. UPS,  and Carroll. The lone loss was to North Central in the CCIW tournament title game.

2) IWU is undefeated against nonconf. teams, winning all 14 (not counting the exhibition loss to the U. of I.)

3) If IWU and Wittenberg both win Friday, that matchup's history: Witt has won 3 of the 5 previous meetings. I found these most recent results:

In Dec. 1990 at Fred Young Fieldhouse, Witt beat IWU 89-73. That was David Caldwell's senior year.

In Dec. 1991, Witt beat IWU 79-57 in Springfield, Ohio.

In Nov. 1996 in the Tip-Off Tournament at Wash. U., IWU walloped Witt 91-69 in the title game. That was the national championship team with Crabtree and Korey Coon (freshman).

Rumor has it that there might be streaming video for the IWU-Va.Wesleyan semi?  Is it true?  Those of us in the far reaches, on the far side would  be delighted.

Lanny, there was an IWU/Witt matchup since that last one.  In 1999-00, IWU defeated the Tigers 77-60 to win the Titan Tipoff Tourney.  It was freshman Luke Kasten's second career game, coming off a 27-point Titan debut vs Roanoke.  Korey Coon led the way with 26 points.  IWU jumped out to a 20-5 lead at the 15:10 mark...one of the best Titan starts I've ever seen.

Yes, a Penn Atlantic video stream, complete with the D3hoops.com audio for the Friday semifinals.  A great opportunity for those who can't make it to Salem.

Does anyone know when tickets for Friday nights IWU game will go on sale at IWU?
