"3) A rumor I heard from several sources. Don't know if it's true, but allegedly an LU student counterfeited the LU/IWU ticket (not hard to do considering the simple format) and sold them to LU students who stood in line early for admission. If true, that would explain why some IWU fans who bought legit tix had to stand or sit in aisles. It appeared to me that there were more than 1100 paying (maybe?) fans in the Depression-era gym for the 2nd game Friday."

Add this to the facts of the seating problems, NO rumor since it comes from the lips of an IWU fan who must use a walker to get around.  After the first game Friday eve, the gym was "cleared" and she was asked to also leave or be escorted out.  The fan pleaded their case, they did not have a wheel chair with and would be a real problem to go out and then come back in with the walker!  Allowed to stay, they witnessed the entry of LU fans from the NE corner door which filled their section and overflow into the end zone section.  All this before even one GREEN IWU FAN ARRIVED.
As we stood in line that Friday night, we wondered why it was taking so long to clear the gym when nobody was coming out and we were surrounded by ONLY IWU fans???  This also helps explain why I paid $10 to stand in the IWU outside aisle, the early entry by LU through the side door and counterfeiting filled seats sold as assigned to IWU.  I certainly trust someone that can do something about future site selection has a record of this treatment and host site selection.  Is it too much for the committe to review anticipated attendance, they fully know the traveling and home records of each team....that's part of the job!

Some one earlier commented that there will "always be small schools in D3" and I couldn't agree more, that's D3 with the exception of some conferences (the WIAC).  Thus, if you deserve to host you must have just as equal an ability to host based on the traveling base of the schools involved.  How else do you develop an interest in D3 if you choke off fan participation at such a critical time as the tournaments?

Rumor has it that there might be streaming video for the IWU-Va.Wesleyan semi?  Is it true?  Those of us in the far reaches, on the far side would  be delighted.

Yes, a Penn Atlantic video stream, complete with the D3hoops.com audio for the Friday semifinals.  A great opportunity for those who can't make it to Salem.

I've put together some more info on the video this weekend. Will link it out front later.

VOTE FOR DAUKSAS

Dauksas is a finalist for the Bob Cousy Award, for the nation's top point guard. At the time of this post, he has 91 votes (Dee Brown has 6096).  Vote at www.cousyaward.com

He handchecks more that Dee Brown, that's for sure.

GO TITANS!!

You can just call the Salem Civic Center directly and order them, and then pick them up at Will Call...at least that has been the case in the past.

There were obvious problems at the Alexander this past weekend.  I'm sure Lawrence has not hosted such an event in quite some time, if ever.  Problems arise and I'm sure they'll fix those issues in the future.  As much as I hate to say it, Lawrence deserved to host.  They were the #1 team in the nation and their facility met the minimum requirements.  I've read in previous posts the Lawrence isn't the only school to "clear the gym" between games, though others probably had a bigger lobby!  I was also wondering why it took so long (along with the other 1000 people in line) to let everyone in.

I think Hoops Fan said it was sour grapes, if he was referring to the seating issues.  It's not sour grapes at all.  I'm sure it would be viewed that way had IWU lost, but they didn't.  More than half of UPS's section was open and it's not like IWU fans wanted to sit right next to their fans.  Most wanted to just sit at the very end, which is a better view than the baseline bleachers.

Those fans who entered through the NE door were parents and family of the team and they were downstairs prior to the game at a prayer service.  Sorry they got in before the geriatrics.
I'm sure it wasn't with malice of forethought.

Mr. Ypsi

Pat,

Good interview tonight on WJBK!  You pretty clearly indicated you expect a Witt-IWU final, but I had to take a phone call during the end of the interview.  Did you ever tip your hand on the winner of the title game?

Maybe you should have paid more attention to the jinx factor rather than being rational before you picked Hope!  While it is undoubtedly just coincidence, as I've pointed out on Final Four and MIAA, there have been 4 #1s in the FF (and 2 wins), Witt is the 3rd #3 (with Williams having a win), Amherst is the 3rd #4 (so far no wins), a #5, 2 #6s (with a win by Otterbein) - there has NEVER been a #2 in the FF!  You destroyed Hope's chances with the final regular season poll! ;D

Since the Hoopsville curse seems to have died this season, perhaps we can start the d3hoops.com #2 curse! ;)

Nope. :)

I pretty much suspected that!  With the internet, there is no longer any such thing as 'sucking up' to the local audience! ;D

I also expect that title game, and much as I bleed green, I'd consider it a toss-up.  I THINK we simply have MORE horses than Witt and will win, but it will be a battle (assuming it even happens).

You can just call the Salem Civic Center directly and order them, and then pick them up at Will Call...at least that has been the case in the past.
They won't be available at IWU, as far as I know. You can order tickets in one of two ways:

1) Order them from www.Ticketmaster.com, and pay all sorts of rediculous services charges.
2) Order them from the Box office at the Civic Center. The phone number is one of the many bizarre d3sports numbers programmed into my phone  :-[ and it is 540-894-6022. You will still pay a service charge ($2) but it is much less than through Ticketmaster (which is $6-$7).

The second option is better, even if it wasn't less expensive. because the Civic Center knows where each school's designated fans section is, and you can request to be put in the IWU section.

You will then just need to pick up the tickets the day of the game from the will call window. The line has never been very long.

I have also picked up tickets the day of the game from the ticket booth, and gotten a great seat by requesting that the put me as close to the floor and the middle as possible. Heck, I've even gotten a good sized block of tickets just for the second day and gotten great seats that were all together when my sis and a group of friends from home decided to come down at the last second for the championship two years ago.

The Final Four, as far as I can tell, has never gotten that close to selling out. It may get closer than normal this year, with VaWes and IWU there, but I wouldn't worry too much about the tickets.
