Congrats to Wheaton on their Final Four achievement.

Francis was out of this world.

Well, that was about as big-time as you will ever see in your life.  I mean, Aston Francis......wow.  Just beyond words what that kid did last night.

I have made a lot of friends from Wheaton College over the years through my association here on d3boards.com.  You guys have been knocking on this door for so long, with so many great teams and players.  Happy for all of you.

In particular, my thoughts are with the late Dave Lawrenz ("Wheaton C" here) - a great friend and the biggest supporter of Wheaton athletics you'll ever find.  He is certainly smiling today.

I will see everyone in Fort Wayne.

From what I've been able to gather, Francis finished the night at exactly 2300 points for his career, including 990 for this season.

1044 is the single season mark (by TCNJ's Greg Grant), which probably will require more than one game.

The best I can tell, Andre Foreman (d3's all time leading scorer) had 2324 total point in his final three seasons, I believe the highest scoring three year stretch in the history of d3.  That "record" is certainly achievable tomorrow against Marietta.
Then again, maybe not?  LOL

Totally logical thought though all things considered...

Wow. I have no words. So happy for Coach Schauer, his team and my alma mater. What a thrilling season and a real joy to watch these guys play. Wow.

The final fours are set! Eight of the best men's and women's teams remain to battle it out for two national titles. On the women's side, many of those expected to make it to Salem. On the men's side, none of the top four powers will be in Fort Wayne.

Sunday on Hoopsville, Dave takes a look at both a record breaking performance on the men's side and chats with the four teams dancing on the women's side. (Due to the extensive coverage in Fort Wayne at the men's championship weekend, Sunday's show will have more women's coverage than men's.) How one man put up 62-points in a game and has already shattered the single-tournament scoring record. And how the four hosts on the women's side survived their weekends to advance.

Hoopsville is presented by D3hoops.com and airs from the WBCA/NABC Studio. Sunday's show can be seen LIVE starting at 7:00 p.m. ET right here: http://bit.ly/2NRnPZi (or via Facebook Live and Periscope simulcasts).

This sets the stage for Wheaton's Fort Wayne semifinal next Friday night against UW-Oshkosh, which will be a rematch of this season's Lee Pfund Classic championship game. Wheaton beat UWO in that game, 86-74, as Francis scored 45 points on 12-29 shooting en route to being named the Will Landry MVP of the Pfund. His opposite number, the estimable Ben Boots of the Titans (this season's WIAC POY) had a very quiet six points that night on 2-15 shooting. Don't look for lightning to strike twice in terms of Boots going 2-15 from the field.

Your warning is probably correct.  On the other hand, he just scored 6 points on 2-13 shooting against Guilford - so who knows! ;)  Perhaps we can compromise on 6 points on 2-14 from the field?! ;D

Wheaton trails at the half, 43-45.  Francis already has 35 points, but I don't view that as a good sign.  Wheaton is much more dangerous when Aston gets his inevitable 30-40 points, AND teammates are contributing (see, for example, yesterday's win over Augie).  Tonight, no one else is really adding much value.

No question.  I'm not sure Wheaton wins a shootout with these guys.  Very few of the Pioneers average more than 20 mins a game. They'll have fresher legs down the stretch.  Even Francis will get tired legs in minute 35.

Obviously you forgot that Francis's legs are bionic! ;D

Nice tributes to Wheaton C . . . we all remember him and miss him.  He must be smiling down after this weekend.

Good luck to Wheaton this weekend.  Keep it rolling . . .

Christopher Newport will win by at least 15 points.  How did Swarthmore get so far??
