It is not a sporting event in the US if this chant does not occur, along with the A$$ho!e chant.

Honestly, the GC-LU game I went to this year was the first time I'd ever heard it from a large segment of the fan base, and I've been to hundreds of d3 games.  Maybe its a Midwest thing; man are those stereotypes wrong.  Everytime I've heard it in New England, it was a few drunk frat guys trying to start it and who ended up being throw out of the gym by administration.

Maybe the NCAA needs to send proprietary card stock to all the participating schools to print tickets on to prevent this sort of incident from happening again.

Maybe the NCAA should just have a stock ticket template so that schools don't print tickets that are so easy to duplicate.

Of course I grew up attending sporting events in NY and Philly so my view might be a little more jaded, you mean it is not normal to heckle and ride your own team?

The template would be easy to copy that is why I suggest the card stock, something with an NCAA hologram would do nicely and be very difficult to counterfeit.

Heckling yes.  I've done my share of outrageous, incidious and offensive heckling, but not profanity, that's crossing the line.  It must be the Puritain Massachusetts thing.  Gay marriage: OK; liquor sales on Sunday: still banned.  You gotta love that.

Except at Boston professional sporting events, where as in NY and Philly profanity and drinking are rewarded.

I do hope the LU administration addresses the counterfeit ticket issue, I also think the NCAA should press them to address it.

The thing is, it happened TWO weekends in a row.  I was outside standing in line, again (they cleared the gym after the first game) and an LU fan said they counterfeited tickets to the 2nd round game vs. St. Thomas.  They turned down LU fans at the door, even though they had tickets in hand...though they refunded them.

The "tickets" they used could've been copied on my computer printer or taken to the local gas station and used their copier.  They were pretty generic to say the least.  Not to say that d3 tickets should have halograms on anything on it!  :D

Any of you ever been to a Wisconsin Badgers game?  Football, hockey etc?

They insult their own fans!  The student sections take shots at each other..."Eat $%!#"...."*&^! you"...back and forth.  I went to a badger hockey game and a chant involved the opposing goalie liking sodomy!  The "A$$hole" chant it tame compared to what these kids come up with.

They didn't just throw snowballs, they booed him too.  They also hung Roman Gabriel in effigy one year and burned it from the upper deck of the Vet.  There is a good reason the Vet was the only stadium in the country that had it'

I heard the CCIW was breaking up and the IWU Titans were moving to the MWC along with Carthage, Elmhurst and Augustana so there will be a North/South in the MWC.

Is that true?!?!?

Anyways good luck to the Titans this weekend!!

OS,
Most of us are in Salem, preparing for more basketball!  I just hooked up the computer and was amazed to see the whining on our board.

For the record, I've rarely heard the BS chant at Shirk, and I'd never heard "You $uck" and "a$$hole" chanted at a college sporting event before the game at Whitewater.  It was really perplexing that the Whitewater fans kept chanting "you $uck" when they were down 20.  Finally, some of us starting chanting "scoreboard" and that quieted things for a bit.

Lawrence fans, I'm sorry if some IWU fans said or did something to offend you.  Most of us try to behave ourselves, and some of our fans are older than others. The cracks about Depends get a little old after a while.  We do want our team to win--is that a crime?

Off to enjoy the games.
You'll never walk alone.

After all the BS from the IWU fans last weekend, can you imagine when they have to travel to LU for a conference tourney?  We'll lineup the KC Depends and Kleenex trucks outside the Alex.

On a serious note, what kind of BS are you talking about regarding IWU fans?  I was just kind of curious what happened at the Alex that I really didn't notice.  I guess I really didn't pay attention.  In my opinion, all sets of fans whined a bit, but the reffing overall was pretty subpar.

I hope you have a serious response and viewpoint...not any of this, "They were all #$$holes" or anything like that.  Do you have any specific conduct?

Then in response, I would give the IWU fans that traveled up there (if they aren't all in Salem) a chance to defend their actions, if need be.  Just curious.

They were not assholes.  Actually, I'm glad they came. I just felt that the whining about the facility and how we ran a tournament was out of line.   It was likely only a fan or two, but I got an earful from a few of them about issues that LU couldn't solve unless they lost a few games and didn't host.  The size of the gym is the size of the gym.  You know, the whole "I wanted to see the first game so I went to the back of the line for the game I wanted", that was the BS I was talking about.

They had a great team and I wish them well in Salem.  I predict they win it all easily.

Mr. Ypsi

Don't know why I'm dumb enough to get involved in this, since I was not among the complainers, but the 'whining' about the size of the gym was, I think, just frustration - people who couldn't get in because of a 1,100 seat facility rather than a 3,000 seat facility.

But this was exacerbated by something LU very much could have (and should have) controlled - the people (WITH legitimate tickets) who couldn't get in (or couldn't get seats) because of the counterfeit tickets.

I can't believe the CCIW breaking up comment.  That would be a huge travesty and would spit in the face of all of us who have supported and played for the best conference in the country.
Then again look at DI over the past few decades.  Sometimes traditions are made to be broken.
Also, any word on what the other five teams in the CCIW would do?
who has any recruiting updates?  With my BlueJays out a few weeks ago, opening tip is in less than eight months and the 2006-2007 CCIW preview is coming together.
Ruch-Bacon '08 for CCIW conference glory.

Proud of LU,

I was one of the guys that went to the back of the line for the 2nd game and I got a seat ok.  My problem was with the way your AD was treating visiting fans.  He was lacked class and was rude to visiting IWU fans. I sat and watched it happen.  I'm an Augie fan and that bothered me.

Plus, I thought the t-shirt idea was great.  Well Done!

Whoever said it was exactly accurate.  Only Wittenberg got to 64 points.  Amherst goes down in the semis 64-60.  They had the game in hand and let it go with untimely turnovers and very poor 3 pt. shot selection in the last 2 minutes.  Wittenberg will be tough, but I think Zach Freeman can guard Russ.  Hope the Titans can put Va. Wesleyan out, because a IWU - Witt matchup would be a great championship game.
