Or what if there's a three-way or four-way tie?  If head-to-head results and best record against #3, #4 (and so on) still result in a deadlock, then what are the remaining tiebreakers?

I'm sure Bob knows, but it appears the conference handbook that spells all this out is likely behind an administrative login on the CCIW website.

If those two teams happen to tie for first place... which team would host the tournament?

As Ryan said, the tiebreaker formula is now behind an administrative wall on the CCIW website. But we've posted it on CCIW Chat countless times over the years. Here it is:

QuoteMen's & Women's Basketball
Seeding will be determined by regular season finish. Ties are broken by the following:

1. Head-to-head competition.
2. Record against team(s) above the tie beginning with the highest ranked team.
3. Record vs. team or teams in 3 rd place. If still tied, go to the next place for determination, et cetera.
4. Road record against conference schools.
5. Record in their last seven conference games.
6. The point spread of the tied teams' head-to head competition.
7. Coin toss

(I've bookmarked it in the past, since this comes up so many times.)

The not-so-secret tie-breaker formula has been modified slightly this year:

Item 3 in Greg's list now reads "below the tie" instead of "in 3rd place"
Item 5 now reads "in their last eight conference games (reflecting the change to a 16-game schedule)

Sources:  CCIW Basketball Sports Guides (2019 editions)

The Women's Guide also includes an example of how to determine "head to head" records when more than two teams are tied.

Can't disagree.  I also believe an All American player gets the benefit, and the big maybe a bit slow center suffers the refs bias...
I know...the refs do their best, you'll say.  But they're at the D3 level just like the players...which means that they're a step slow and an inch or two short in their ability to call a game.
Not looking for an argument... I'm firmly convinced.

It wouldn't be a school year on d3boards.com without someone griping about Aric Lee, the WSOY broadcaster who does PBP for Millikin sports. I've done it myself. Two years ago an NPU wide receiver named Micah Lowe went up for a pass against the Big Blue at Lindsay Field, got drilled in the lower thigh, spun in mid-air, and came down hard on the same leg. He was down on the turf for a good ten minutes before the stretcher came out and carted him off to the ambulance. His leg was broken and his knee was wrecked, ending his football career.

While Lowe was lying motionless on the turf being tended to by NPU and Millikin training staff, Aric Lee was riffing on the air about how the Big Blue cornerback was just doing his job in responding to the suggestion implied by the Vikings receiver's name by hitting Micah "Lowe", as though this was the right time to be joking and making clever puns about the kid's name. It was disgusting, and I went off about it on the CCIW football board.

The question is, Bob, why aren't you directing your ire at the source? On Twitter the night before your tweets, Aric Lee gave vent to those same sentiments about there being an anti-Millikin officiating bias:

Thanks for the updates, Peter. I've changed my bookmarks accordingly.

Mr. Ypsi

At the half, Augie 41, IWU 39.  A VERY different game than the one they played in Rock Island!

Unless Elmhurst can reverse a 19 point halftime deficit on the road at North Central, they are set to lose for the 3rd time in their last 4 games. Have they flown too close to the sun?
